We also kept an eye out to see how many of the smaller seeds made it into the final result. How easy are the juicers to use. First off, are they intuitive. Second, do they require too much muscle. It’s easy to get juicer fatigue, whether you’re using an electric machine or a manual press. We took into account how much exertion was required to squeeze the fruit. Equipment that tired us out lost points. Is it noisy? The electric juicers ranged in noise level from an efficient purr to a loud grind. Naturally, quieter machines are more desirable than the noisier ones. (One bonus of manual juicers: they don’t make a peep!) How much room does it take up. But it was difficult to use with harder, smaller limes—in fact, it was near impossible to extract any juice. Like the glass juicer, if you weren’t working with nice, juicy fruit, it was difficult to get the most out of it. Both are yellow presses that clamp a citrus half and squeeze out the juice. The OXO required major force, and if you don’t have particularly strong arms, using it could get old fast. The design of the Chef N creates more leverage, making it easier to press the fruit even if you’re lacking in muscle, and it offered one of the higher yields of juice in this category, at 38 percent. But the spent citrus halves from this style of juicer left more pulp behind than the rinds from most of the other models, which felt wasteful. I wish everything was made this well!My main beef is that the pulp control mechanism twists round with the action of the machine, unless you either make sure the machine rotation is in the opposite direction to the pulp control rotation (a little tricky to judge as it all depends of the angle of pressure you use as to which way the cone rotates), or if you hold the jug handle to keep it still whilst juicing. So in use, if I set the pulp to be minimal, it gets moved to maximum by the momentum of the juicing action and vice versa. It's super sturdy and did a great job for being a manual juicer. Been using it a couple of weeks now. I make this crazy health drink every morning and I bought this thing specifically to make the drink. And it's working out great. I can make my drink and clean everything up in 3 minutes. Took like 7 minutes using my old Oxo setup. So here's what I do. I take a sharp knife and dip some tumeric powder out of a jar and dump it into the cup. Then I put the small reamer on top of the cup, use the knife to cut a lime in half, then I ream the lime. After that, I flip over the reamer and pour in a splash of unfiltered apple cider vinegar. This washes any leftover lime bits into the cup, which I do because I like the lime bits. Then I rinse out the reamer (which rinses easily) and set it on the sideboard to dry. Then I put the grater into place and grate some ginger root. Using the same knife, I scrape the grated ginger off both sides of the grater and add that to the cup and use the knife to stir everything together. I remove the grater and rinse it under the tap (also rinses quick and easy) and place it aside. Now, there's another piece--the clear plastic reamer that I think is for oranges and grapefruit--but I don't need it or want it so I have no opinion about how well that part works. Edit: using for 5 months now. Still completely satisfied. I love this new one. It comes with a grater as well and tops pop in out easily for cleaning and hold in place so that it doesn't move all over when in use. It's perfect for travel, is compact and stores everything together so your (I'm) never looking for the parts. Love it! Works great and I really feel like it gets out all the juice it can. Also excited to use it as a garlic press. I love this thing. I use it every morning (at least) so it's like we have a relationship. It extracts juice just GREAT. The pulp is very dry. I've juiced everything in it: watermelon, kale, lettuce, cabbage, carrots, spinach, celery, berries, apples, broccoli and added ginger.
