Softened water helps cleaning products perform more efficiently, makes clothes last longer and extends the life of appliances such as dishwashers and coffeemakers. The WaterBoss 900 Water Softener is a large capacity, whole-house unit that softens water by removing dissolved calcium and magnesium. Although the WaterBoss 900 requires little user maintenance, it is important to program the WaterBoss 900 with settings tailored to your water and your household’s water usage. You can obtain free test strips from WaterBoss or purchase them at home improvement stores. Perform the test according to the test strip’s instructions and make note of the results. If your water meets both of these conditions, add 15 points to the hardness grains per gallon to determine your hardness setting number. Ask for the water hardness in grains per gallon. This is your hardness setting number. If water is visible above the softener salt in the tank, or if there is not any salt in the tank, add enough softener salt until it is above the level of water. Push the SET button and hold for three seconds to display a default hardness number. Push the CHANGE button until the number displayed matches your hardness setting number, and then press SET to save the number. The WaterBoss 900 hardness display will only go up to 90.http://fzclicks.com/demo/files/editor/canon-pixma-mp610-printer-manual.xml

The powerClean cycle sets the WaterBoss 900 to regenerate every other day, regardless of the hardness setting. Leave the powerClean cycle activated for at least two weeks before deactivating, and activate powerClean again if you begin to notice a decrease in water softness. The WaterBoss 900 is set to HC (high capacity) by default. High capacity means your softener will regenerate less often, but use more salt. If you want to regenerate more often and use less salt, press CHANGE to set the softener to HE (high efficiency). Press SET to save the setting and start the next option. The WaterBoss 900 is set to Demand Mode by default. Press the CHANGE button to toggle between the two modes, and then press the SET button to save the setting and start the next option. If you have excess iron in your water, press the CHANGE button until the display shows “96.” Press the SET button to save the setting and start the next option. Press the SET button to save the setting and start the next option. Press the SET button to save the setting and start the next option. Press the SET button to save the setting. Slide the salt access door closed. The unit will now soften the water automatically based on your settings. If salt was added to an empty tank at the beginning of the programming process, wait two hours and then start regeneration by pushing the controller pad’s REGENERATE button for three seconds. In the event the water supply being processed through this product contains bacterial iron, algae, sulphur, tannins, organic matter, or other unusual substances, then, unless the system is represented as being capable of handling these substances in the system specifications, other special treatment of the water supply must be used to remove these substances before they enter this product. The warranty does not cover damage resulting from use with inadequate or defective plumbing; inadequate or defective water supply or pressure; inadequate or defective house wiring; improper voltage, electrical service, or electrical connections; or violation of applicable building, plumbing, or electrical codes laws, ordinances, or regulations. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state. In addition to this wide range, these units also vary in salt usage and regeneration speed. However, they share many common characteristics, including error codes such as the “E1” message, which appears on the digital display panel of WaterBoss softeners that are experiencing controller-related issues. The E1 Error If the digits “E1” appear on your WaterBoss softener's digital display and the appliance emits an audible beeping sound, this indicates that the unit's controller cannot locate the home magnet disk position.https://energijaprirode.com/images/burley-nomad-cargo-rack-manual.pdf The controller measures the WaterBoss's usage and regenerates water based on need, while the home position serves as baseline position of the controller; if the controller cannot locate the position and the “E1” error appears, you may find hard water coming through your home's water supply. Resetting the Unit In some cases, you can troubleshoot the “E1” code by simply resetting your WaterBoss appliance. To reset the unit, remove the transformer from the power outlet, then let the WaterBoss rest for 30 seconds before plugging the transformer back into the wall. This cycles the water softener's power, sometimes enabling the controller to find the home position once again. The manufacturer also suggests this method for addressing the “E2” code, an indication of a disconnected motor. Another Recommended Remedy When the “E1” error code appears and resetting the water softener doesn't do the trick, WaterBoss recommends ensuring that the controller is securely seated. To access the controller, remove the valve cover assembly. Identify the controller, a square platter with a disc in its center -- it lies atop a double-cross-shaped platform known as the drive end cap. Ensure that the four tabs of the drive end cap are secured on the controller to resume normal operation and eliminate the error code. This and other complex repairs that cause the code to persist even after you carry out basic troubleshooting procedures call for professional assistance from WaterBoss. Can the regen cycle duration be adjusted.http://admio.ru/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/162954ff185985---compaq-ipaq-h3870-manual.pdf How much water does a water softener consume to regenerate its ability to remove minerals from the water supply? You'll know this by seeing water discharging from the softener drain and by hearing water running through the softener continuously, for more than three hours. It would not be unusual for the total regen cycle to take more than an hour, comprised of these steps: Why is this happening? - Joe Hernandez, Brighten MI Replace Power Head Assembly if not Positioning Properly. Don't leave the softener running forever - doing so wastes water and if your home is connected to a private septic system it will also flood and damage the drainfield. The water softener itself does not deliver water to your home. That may be what you are hearing. The water softener is treating as much as 2000-3000 gallons of hard water depending on water softener size, model, and the hardness of the water supply. Water hardness even determines the amount of detergent needed to wash clothing. The lowest regen flow rate I've seen is about 0.18 and the highest 0.8 gpm, putting the upper end of water consumption by this approach at 0.8 x 120 or 96 gallons of water used over two hours. A good standard is that an efficient water softner should use no more than 5 gallons of regeneration cycle water per 1000 grains of hardness removed from the water supply. Actual water usage is between 1.3 and 5.6 gallons of regeneration water per 1000 grains of water hardness, depending on softener model, design, and efficiency. As Mark Cramer says,. it depends. In this case on the hardness of your water supply, the volume of water being consumed, and the efficiency of your water softener. That part of the cycle is drawing all of the water from tank and continues that cycle long after the brine tank is empty. My new job is to maintain this system and insure proper operation. I had a stuck float in the brine tank which was repaired, than I forced a regeneration cycle and noticed the brine tank and cycle setup.www.crea-solution.com/ckfinder/userfiles/files/95-ford-ranger-manual-transmission-fluid-type.pdf - Bob Or maybe not. In that case once brine has been drawn out of the tank you won't see water pumped back into the salt tank until the next regen cycle. The water softener regeneration takes place by cycling salty water backwards through the treatment tank and out into a disposal drain, followed by some wash-out of brine from the treatment tank so that the household water is not full of salt. So the regeneration cycle would be expected to run for the sum of the brine passage plus the flush out water passage - longer than just the time to remove the brine-water from the salt tank. Check the float. So I'd make a double check that the un-stuck float in the brine tank is properly set in its height and free in its movement. Can you tell me what's wrong and how to fix it ? - anon. You should be able to remove, clean and replace the float to fix the problem. It was not in a regeneration cycle. If the system was put out of service and on bypass it might be because the system was stuck in regeneration mode and needs cleaning or repair. There is a plastic tube out the top that goes direct to the main house drain and recently we noticed there is a steady stream coming from it.That sort does not know how salty the regen solution is. Yes, if your softener is a more advanced model that monitors water hardness. How do I remove valves to check for obstruction? Common causes of being stuck in regen include Check this FIRST. Be sure that the computer control is pushed all the way up onto the drive end cap. Look at the parts explosion and see my caveats below when disassembling to check or clean the valve. If the motor runs and the valve doesn't turn this is probably the problem so I'd look for this condition before disassembling the valve. That will give you a parts explosion and repair procedures specific to that machine.http://www.oknookna.pl/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/162954ffdea2d9---Compaq-ipaq-h3835-manual.pdf Going to all that trouble and finding that you've nicked or damaged an O-ring can leave you shut down while you have to wait for such parts, and chances are you need them anyway. The unit is only 4 years old. First you may need to adjust not just the Regeneration frequency but also the salt dose. In addition it's possible that the softener is in fact not functioning that is not softening water if in fact it's resin is old and expired. I tried adjusting hardness level and increasing it (even know I know it’s set correctly), but same readily. I have to manually Regen about 3-4 times for my water to get soft! Watched Regen cycle and everything seems to run normal. Any other recommendations? Watch out: I don't like to cancel a softener regen cycle once it's actually begun because you're leaving the system in a possibly dys-functional state. So what can you do? When I've made the same mistake as you AND when it was inconvenient to let the regen cycle continue I left the softener OFF I put the bypass control valve into BYPASS I warned building occupants that the water softener was out of service, Watch out: that means do not use a tankless coil or tankless water heater as extra minerals will quickly clog the hot water piping But that permitted people to wash the car or water the lawn.I turned it off after bout 15 minutes. It is poorly designed and flimsy in all aspects. DO NOT BUY unless you want problems from day one. I wish I had seen the parts of the waterboss before buying. Resin exhausted after 3 years Stay away from WaterBoss. I had mine for 3 years and it stopped softening the water. I noticed that the resin was being flushed out of the drain during regeneration. I called customer service and they wanted a sample of the resin around the drain. Read more Stay away from WaterBoss. After they analyzed it they told me the resin was completely exhausted and had broken down. Not covered by warranty. Yes, the resin tank is covered for 10 years, but not the resin. My last water softener lasted for 12 years. No more WaterBoss. Easily the best DIY softener available I bought my first Waterboss (model 950) six years ago (December 2006). Six years, zero issues.just kept salt in it and it worked flawlessly. At first I didn't think it was working properly due to the fact that the salt level seemed to barely. Read more I bought my first Waterboss (model 950) six years ago (December 2006). At first I didn't think it was working properly due to the fact that the salt level seemed to barely move.only to look into the unit a little deeper to find out that it just uses a lot less salt than I was used to (something about the design of their tank. Their website explained it but I forgot now, sorry!). I just moved into a new home that has well water (the 950 is more geared for city water) and purchased a Waterboss ProPlus 380 from Menards. I've only have this unit installed for a few months but, like my first Waterboss, no issues so far. Why did I buy Waterboss. First, they're made in the USA.rare these days. Second, it just seemed a lot more solid of unit to me than the other ones I was seeing at the big-box stores.the others all sort of looked the same and just didn't, I saw a lot of wire sticking out from the back of their units, etc. While I have no owned the 900 it seems logicial that they're very similar. Hope this review helps. No Repairs in over 5 years.30 years now with 3 different water softeners. The 5 years since I purchased a WaterBoss 900 from Menards are the first 5 years where I have not had to touch the water softener to fix anything. The WaterBoss just runs, regenerates and uses about. Read more I have dealt with water softeners for 30 years now with 3 different water softeners. The WaterBoss just runs, regenerates and uses about 75 Less Salt during regeneration. Prior to this I had a Kenmore, followed by the Sear's version of a Morton softener. After having so many problems, primarily with the regeneration systems, I purchased hardness testing kits to help troubleshoot the problems. Despite having no problems during the last 5 years I have felt compelled to test the water from time to time. Hardness is always undetectable on every test I have ever run on the WaterBoss soft water. The best day for those other two softeners was about 25ppm of hardness. As for Salt Savings, I used to stock up on 6 bags of salt to get through the winter and usually had to haul several more bags down by sled in the snow. I now get by with less then 2 bags for the whole winter. With the other two softeners I was continuously pulling apart the regeneration systems to determine why the softeners wasn't working, but once after about 10 years of service the water dispersion tube that drops to the bottom of the softener pulled out of the regeneration valve allowing resin to escape into the water heater and water supply to the house. I discovered this when mesh screens on the aerators around the house plugged off with resin. During this time I ran hundreds of hardness tests before and after repair attempts. I am guessing that I spent at least 1000 hours working on softeners over the first 25 years, until I got the WaterBoss, and then the work stopped. Maybe I was lucky, but so was my neighbor, who also has had a maintenance free WaterBoss softener for 6 or 7 years. I bought mine on his recommendation, and I have not regretted it. It runs perfect with very low salt usage. Our water is very hard and the WaterBoss made it very soft. The reason I purchased this brand was because my previous water. Read more I have had my WaterBoss Model 900 water softener for almost five years now. The reason I purchased this brand was because my previous water softener was a WaterBoss and I installed that one over 15 years ago in my previous home. I had no issues with it and it worked fine for me. This unit also filters out iron sediment (small amount rating). I have recommended this brand to my friends and family. WaterBoss 900 Not worth the money I had the Waterboss for about 4 years. At about the two year mark the electronic unit died. I called customer service and they sent me out a new unit. After another 2 years the same part failed. I called and they said that it was out of warranty. Read more I had the Waterboss for about 4 years. I stated that this was the part that they sent me about 1.5 years ago. The woman stated they only warrant them for 90 days. I asked again about the warranty and she said 90 days. I said the failure rate of this product is very high and I would just buy a different product. Also at around the 3.5 year mark i had to take the unit apart because the motor was clicking. I had to grease the internals to make it work. I can not recommend this product, just wish i read some of these reviews before purchasing. Expensive Parts My WaterBoss is 7 years old. It has been working pretty good until now. Started getting an E1 error code flashing and beeping. Read more My WaterBoss is 7 years old. This allows for the timing of the WaterBoss to function. They told me this part has not been modified to be stronger, so I will expect this to go out again. After searching online I found out that this part typically goes out after a couple of years - so I am fortunate that mine lasted as long as it did. Many reviews here are very negative to their customer service. I was not looking forward to calling them based on the reviews. However, I must say my experience was good. They were professional and polite.
