If you look at the pics and the pinout for the V you can figure it all out.http://www.mpksieradz.pl/upload/briggs-and-stratton-power-washer-manual.xml All you need is a few things from Radio Shack and presto. I will do a write up when I get the time. In the meantime if anyone has any questions or problems getting it working feel free to PM me and I will try to help you out. I will get around to it as soon as I have some time. It's pretty easy. Just take the plastic cover off the USB Scanner Programming Cable and connect the three contacts on the scanner side (not the 4 on the usb side) as shown to the 3 holes on the bottom of the minitor as shown in the pic.If you have trouble or get stuck feel free to PM me, I usually get back to messages at various times of the day, I just haven't had the time to sit down and do a full write up on this, or if I have it is spent doing a million other things or maybe trying to get a glimpse of some sort of personal life. I promise I will try to do a full write up, and maybe even a short bit about how to make the somewhat more sophisticated but still homemade programmer that I built. However it requires modification to the PPS software files to unlock or make the engineering mode available, this is done with a file editor. There is a thread here somewhere can't remember if it was here or batlabs., I read it, however I didn't feel like I was comfortable enough with altering the pps files to make the engineering mode available in the software. If you pm me I can give you a contact who programs pagers for 5.00 plus shipping (first class which is like 3.50) He may be able to add a second channel not sure though never asked him about it I have always sent him 2 channel pagers. Our fire department and ambulance squad both operate on VHF but are dispatched on separate channels. The FD already has a full inventory of Minitor V's, and the ambulance squad is in the middle of purchasing them for its members. For the guys who belong to both departments, we're trying to get the pagers to work equally well on either channel. The ultimate goal is that they would only have to carry one pager instead of two. So far, I have programmed four test pagers using Normal Scan and Silent Scan on both frequencies. Our call volumes are low enough that we're not worried about missing a call on one channel because of activity on the other. It seems to be working well on three out of the four pagers.http://experience-hr.com/images/braun-4520-manual.pdf He'd like to have EMS on vibrate only and Fire on tone alert. I've poured over the programming software until I am cross-eyed and can not figure out how to do this reliably on both Silent and Normal scan modes.I dont think you can even have a vibrate alert on scan, either. I have a similiar situation. I set fire calls to alert on the main alert(beep, beep, beep) and rescue on a musical alert. So it's either both or none. You can have vibrate on silent scan, but again it affects both channels. What you might do is assign the Fire page to Standard (interrupt beeping) and the EMS page to Continuous (solid beep). That's a heck of a lot easier to tell apart than the musical tones. So it's either both or none. You can have vibrate on silent scan, but again it affects both channels. That's a heck of a lot easier to tell apart than the musical tones. They just got blown out on a call which woke me up so I stayed awake to listen for another problem with his pager. The second problem with his pager is that it fully resets after each call. I have tried programming it for Manual reset and for Revert N reset and neither seems to work. If I understand these two modes correctly, the pager should remain in Monitor mode until the reset button is pushed. Instead, if set to Manual, it goes back into Alert mode immediately after the alert tone and the SV only picks up a few seconds of open squelch. If set to Revert N, the SV for the initial dispatch works correctly, but then it goes back into Alert mode instead of remaining in Monitor mode. Obviously, programming is taking because the SV is affected when moving between Revert N and Manual. The only other issue with the pager is that the function switch is sloppy. Move it to position D, and the white dot goes way beyond the D. Same for all the other positions. The new pager's switch is nice and tight with no slop in any position. But it seems to function correctly in each position so I am not sure that this is related to the reset issue.https://spazmedia.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/162840b5abcb5d---buffalo-bandsaw-bp-vbs-14-manual.pdf Thanks to all for the responses so far. Manual blocks with the SV function, but it works exactly as I want it to in Delay N. Set it at any letter, and there is all kinds of play in both directions before hitting the next detent. The Chief had my new pager last night for two calls. I don't know if he heard the first call (might have been out of town for dinner), but he responded on the second one. We shall see when I talk to him tomorrow. Thanks for the info. It will monitor the channel until that button is pressed. What kind of pager is it with the messed up function switch. Bet it is a III. Our county will send out the tones, then instantly drop the carrier. If you want the pager to remain in monitor mode until you decide to reset it, these choices don't do what you want. I have all SV pagers in my inventory. On the Model Options tab, I have the Reset Function set to Revert N with the time at 10.56 seconds. That holds the squelch open for 10.56 seconds if carrier is dropped after the tones. That's usually enough time for the dispatcher to key up and start the voice message. When the voice message is finished, the pager reverts to Monitor mode and can then be silenced by pressing the reset button. On non-SV pagers, set the Reset Function to Revert (not Revert N) and they should remain in monitor mode after an alert. Give that a try. If you still have problems, send me a pm and I'll give you my email. You can then send me a copy of your codeplug and I'll take a peek at it for you. The reason we are changing this is we are now using the MABAS system (popular here in WI now) and some of the messages can be very lengthy. Traditionally, we just left it open for 60 seconds and had it auto reset, but that would at times cut the message short. The reason we are changing this is we are now using the MABAS system (popular here in WI now) and some of the messages can be very lengthy. Traditionally, we just left it open for 60 seconds and had it auto reset, but that would at times cut the message short. The time is up to you, but we use 10.56 seconds with good results.http://gennarimaq.com.br/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/162840b6a6fc13---buffalo-airstation-wla2-g54l-manual.pdf This allows time for dropped carrier due to stacked pages or other reasons. If you don't use Revert N, the SV recording will stop at carrier drop after the tones. With Revert N, the pager will revert to Monitor Mode when the voice message ends. Pressing the reset button will silence the pager if you are in one of the alert modes. This should do exactly what you want. For future reference, here is a better description of each Reset Function than what you will find in the programming manual. Reset Function - This field sets the method to reset the audio. 1. Automatic: Resets the audio when carrier drops. Pager returns to silent alert mode. 2. Delayed N: Waits N seconds before checking carrier drop. Pager returns to silent alert mode. 3. Revert: Reverts to Monitor Mode after receiving a SelCall page. 4. Manual: Resets the audio only when the Reset Switch is depressed. 5. Time-out: Resets after a selected amount of time only. 6. Revert N: Wait N seconds and then remain in monitor mode until the reset button is pushed. BTW, the programming manual is installed on your computer when you install the PPS. It can be found in C:\Program Files\Motorola\Minitor V PPS\Manual This will keep the recorder going for as long as there is carrier. When the dispatch drops carrier at the end of the message, SV stops. This is separate from the Revert N time which allows for carrier drop after the tones but before the voice message starts. If you find that the MABAS dispatches have carrier drop in the middle of the voice message, you'll have to set that at 60 or 120 seconds. People are disagreeing on the setup so I have one last ? for you. We currently use the Delayed N mode, which still cuts messages off mid sentence, does that sound right. I thought if there is a carrier it wont cut the message off People are disagreeing on the setup so I have one last ? for you. There are no missed calls due to dropped carrier reset. Delayed N returns the pager to silent alert mode. Revert N holds the squelch open for the specified time to keep the SV going. After that, the pager reverts to monitor mode. Delayed N will continue to be problematic. Thanks again. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Are you using the Motorola branded pager programmer box and cradle. If yes, are you saying that you have a USB to serial adapter in-between the programming box and the PC. If yes, I would check to be sure that you are using the correct drivers for your serial adapter and not something that Windows has assigned for you. Also - just to be sure - you are putting the actual pager into programming mode before you begin this sequence, correct. Please let us know our hardware configuration and the steps you are doing so that we can determine where the problem might be. Make sure you select the correct Comm Port. If you are using a USB to serial adapter, you will need to make sure that either Com 1 or Com 2 is assigned. It may work with Com 3 or Com 4, but any higher and it won't like it at all. I've also found that dirty contacts on the either the pager or the programming cradle can cause this error. As pointed out, be double sure you have the pager in programming mode. The pager needs a good, charged battery, too. And, lastly, make sure the charging cradle has power from the wall wort. If you've done all of this and you still get the error, remove the pager from the cradle and reseat it. Then try reading again. There's also a troubleshooting guide at the back of the programming manual. I use an XP desktop computer that has a real serial card with DB-9 Com-1 and Com-2. I still get that error from time to time. Generally it's battery or dirty contacts. Yes it is a Motorola programming cradle. It is a USB cable. The correct COM port was selected. It turns out I did other put the pager in programming mode; didn'the know about that. I'll try that and see if it works. I am using a USB cable that plugs in to the back of the cradle. I put the pager in program mode; put the pager on channel C, pressed and held the reset button, then turned the pager on. I tried to read the pager. The status bar moves. Once the bar is complete, the pager read error pops up. Id there a specific driver needed for the usb cable. Windows XP searched for and installed a driver. Any thoughts? The port controller had the wrong bps selected and I was choosing the wrong COM port. Thank you for the sugestions. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. We have a mix of older Minitor V and the new Minitor VI pagers. We just moved to a new set-up with 3 sets of tones and we are struggling to make everyone happy under the new system. I am looking for suggestions on how to set these up. Here is what we have, please let me know if any of these are possible. Fire Tones EMS Duty EMS All Call All sets of tones have a different first tone, but share the second tone. Minitor V's. Is it possible to have all 3 sets of of tones alert on 1 channel (example A) but have different alerts depending on which is paged. For Example, this is how we would love to have things set-up. Channel A: Fire, EMSALL, EMSDUTY (Selective Call) Channel B: Fire, EMSALL, EMSDUTY (Monitor) Channel C: Fire (Selective Call) Channel D: Fire, EMSALL, EMSDUTY (Selective Call Vibrate) Being new to programming the pagers, I am confused as to how to set this up with Multiple Tones on a channel. Would I need to switch back to one of the other coding options to do this? Joe Since this is a 2 channel pager, I did the following without changing duty. CH1: Entered all 3 tones Ch2: Entered Fire Tones Assigned Channel 1 tone, Monitor, Or Vibrate to A,B,D Assigned Channel 2 tone to C. I think that was all I needed to do, correct? One of out members told me there is an option to close, it, but I thought if it is a monitor frequency, it was always open. Thanks for the help. I can't remember off the top of my head but there's a setting for manual reset of squelch. I just today was given a Minitor VI pager by our chief to replace my last 2 Minitor V's that had perpetual charging issues. The used pager I was given has 64 old stored messages in it. I have read the manual available on line and although it REFERS to a function to delete all stored messages, I could not find the actual way to DO it. Maybe it's me and I just missed it. Anyone out there able to tell me how to get that done. Thanks, Matthew I just today was given a Minitor VI pager by our chief to replace my last 2 Minitor V's that had perpetual charging issues. If I could download all of my father's knowledge and cooking experience into my brain, it would be no problem, but this book will have to suffice. It is hands down the most useful book in my kitchen on a day-to-day basis. The ability to look up key ingredients you are cooking with and find things that complement If I could download all of my father's knowledge and cooking experience into my brain, it would be no problem, but this book will have to suffice. The ability to look up key ingredients you are cooking with and find things that complement them is invaluable. It could perhaps be even more in-depth, but that might be asking a lot of an already large and impressively complete guide. For example, If you had some pork sausages, you could make them taste like many different cuisines. They could be Spanish or German or Italian or Korean based on the accompanying flavor notes. I really enjoyed how you could look up an ingredient and be inspired by all the flavors suggested. Not a cook book more of a chef's book. Got to buy it for myself. This is a book that explores flavor affinities. For example, If you had some pork sausages, you could make them taste like many different cuisines. Got to buy it for myself.
