Well that works for now, thanks. I will still need to come across a complete manual sometime in the near future though, right now i'm doing a complete tear down and most likely rebuild if things aren't too bad on the inside. This boat has not been used in 5 or more years, it has just been sitting in a barn collecting bird poop. I haven't tested the compression yet, but the flywheel does turn by hand so it is not seized up. The only information I could get from the owner is that the engine bay was filling with water when he was running it on the river. So either he had water coming in, or there is a leak somewhere that is bringing the cooling water into the engine compartment rather than the head.http://www.drupalitalia.org/node/77750 So I am looking to take it apart this spring and see what I can find. I am looking for a decent service manual for this outboard, but can't seem to find anything about this specific model and year. I have found 1996 manuals for 40 hp and I have found manuals for 4-150 hp, etc. Is the 1996 similar enough to the 1997 model that the 90-831250 manual (on ebay) would work for me. I am not really looking to spend a ton of money on a manual unless it is the correct one for this motor. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks for your help. Thanks for the quick reply. I did notice that service manual listed in their website. But I can find nowhere else that states this manual is suitable for the 1997 models. It clearly shows 1996 on the cover of the manual. Does anyone else have any experience with this? I believe you will find that manual right here at the iboats store. Make sure you search for the 97 force manual and not the mercury one.even though it says merc on the cowl cover its still classified as a force. R1 is the latest but you will be able to use the other as well. Gerry. Years ago they stopped making force outboards. They stopped in the late 90's. Many Force outboard are still out I the world today. This company was bought by US MARINE in 1987 in 1987 came out the brand new Force 125 hp outboard. Then in 1987 came the brand new 85 hp Force outboard. In 1984 The Force outboard motor company was made. In 1988 the new 85 hp, 125 hp, 35 hp, 50 hp were made in 1988. Only the 85 hp, 90 hp, 120 hp, 125 hp, and 150 hp force motors have Crossfire Fuel Induction (CFI) I have a 1988 Force 85 hp outboard and works great for the pontoon boat. I know that it still has ability to go as fast as it can. These motors have been around for years now and are still popular. The handbook is often used by do-it-yourself mechanics and dealership technicians to overhaul, restore or perform maintenance based on the boat motor manufacturer specifications. However, it’s probably best to download a manual to a tablet or computer for more efficient viewing. Keep reading to learn how a Mercury repair manual download can help you. Once a copy of the manual has been downloaded to your electronic device, such as a computer. It can be saved to the downloads folder or desktop forever. But with a download Mercury repair manual, you can print out only the page(s) you need to complete the repair work—and throw them in the trash when you’re done. You can even print out the entire Mercury manual if need be. Aside from being very expensive, it can take weeks to finally receive it in the mailbox. However, with a download Mercury repair manual, you can literally get one transferred to your electronic device in under 3 minutes. It also contains torque specifications and other data. Maintenance is important for keeping the boat engine in good condition. Performing routine maintenance also helps to extend the life of the motor. Maintenance schedules are included in every manual, detailing when and how each part should be maintained. Because outboard maintenance is so incredibly important, every boat owner should own a download repair manual for this reason. And at some point, every outboard will experience some type of fault. Sometimes the malfunction will be obvious, but at other times it can be difficult to understand what is wrong with the outboard motor. Having a troubleshooting guide handy is a simple way to easily trace and fix the motor’s problem. It’s important to print out the troubleshooting guide and keep a copy on the boat at all times. No problem, download a repair manual now. A download repair manual is the same manual dealership mechanics use to fix the motor. It covers complete part inspection, removal, disassembly, cleaning, assembly and installation procedures. It also covers detailed testing procedures when applicable. Pictures, diagrams and illustrations are included when necessary to aid the mechanic through the repair process. Reinstalling a wire or hose in the wrong spot can cause the motor to run terribly. This is another reason to always have a Mercury repair manual handy. Moreover, wiring diagrams are absolutely critical when performing electrical repairs, testing or when a wire color code chart is needed. You never know when or if you might need one. And you don’t want to be 50 miles from shore with a dead motor and not knowing what to do get it started again. Trust me, I been there before. It’s not a good experience. For other uses, see Mercury project (disambiguation). An early highlight of the Space Race, its goal was to put a man into Earth orbit and return him safely, ideally before the Soviet Union. Taken over from the US Air Force by the newly created civilian space agency NASA, it conducted 20 uncrewed developmental flights (some using animals), and six successful flights by astronauts. This came as a shock to the American public, and led to the creation of NASA to expedite existing US space exploration efforts, and place most of them under civilian control. After the successful launch of the Explorer 1 satellite in 1958, crewed spaceflight became the next goal. The Soviet Union put the first human, cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, into a single orbit aboard Vostok 1 on April 12, 1961. Shortly after this, on May 5, the US launched its first astronaut, Alan Shepard, on a suborbital flight. Soviet Gherman Titov followed with a day-long orbital flight in August 1961. The US reached its orbital goal on February 20, 1962, when John Glenn made three orbits around the Earth. When Mercury ended in May 1963, both nations had sent six people into space, but the Soviets led the US in total time spent in space.Mercury flights were launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, on launch vehicles modified from the Redstone and Atlas D missiles. The capsule was fitted with a launch escape rocket to carry it safely away from the launch vehicle in case of a failure.http://www.akutrans.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/162730e4a6e479---briggs-and-stratton-6b-s-manual.pdf The flight was designed to be controlled from the ground via the Manned Space Flight Network, a system of tracking and communications stations; back-up controls were outfitted on board. Small retrorockets were used to bring the spacecraft out of its orbit, after which an ablative heat shield protected it from the heat of atmospheric reentry. Finally, a parachute slowed the craft for a water landing. Both astronaut and capsule were recovered by helicopters deployed from a US Navy ship. Its success laid the groundwork for Project Gemini, which carried two astronauts in each capsule and perfected space docking maneuvers essential for crewed lunar landings in the subsequent Apollo program announced a few weeks after the first crewed Mercury flight.A fiberglass seat was custom-molded from each astronaut's space-suited body for maximum support. Experience validated the astronauts' insistence on manual controls.Louis, 1960 After separation from the first stage, the sustainer stage continued alone. His flight also gave NASA the confidence to move onto orbital flights. During the flight, the spacecraft Friendship 7 experienced issues with its automatic control system but Glenn was able to manually control the spacecraft's attitude. He quit NASA in 1964, when he came to the conclusion that he likely wouldn't be selected for any Apollo missions and later got elected to the US Senate, serving from 1974 to 1999. The spaceflight was essentially a repeat of Mercury-Atlas 6, but a targeting error during re-entry took Aurora 7 250 miles (400 km) off-course, delaying recovery. The mission's main goal was to show development of environmental controls or life-support systems that would allow for safety in space, thus being a flight mainly focused on technical evaluation, rather than scientific experimentation.cookstownauto.com/uploads/userfiles/files/canon-laser-shot-lbp-1120-service-manual.pdf Three years later, he commanded the first crewed Apollo mission, Apollo 7, becoming the first astronaut to fly three times and the only person to fly in the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs. His flight onboard Faith 7 set the another U.S. endurance record with a 34 hour and 19 minute flight duration, and 22 completed orbits. This mission marks the last time an American was launched alone to conduct an entirely solo orbital mission. On March 13, 1972, after doctors confirmed he no longer had a coronary condition, Slayton returned to flight status and the next year was assigned to the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, which successfully flew in 1975 with Slayton as the docking module pilot. After the ASTP, he managed the Space Shuttle Program's Approach and Landing Tests (ALT) and Orbital Flight Tests (OFT) before retiring from NASA in 1982. Shepard lived with his family at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia. At the end of 1958, various ideas for the selection pool were discussed privately within the national government and the civilian space program, and also among the public at large. Initially, there was the idea to issue a widespread public call to volunteers. Thrill-seekers such as rock climbers and acrobats would have been allowed to apply, but this idea was quickly shot down by NASA officials who understood that an undertaking such as space flight required individuals with professional training and education in flight engineering. These aviators had long military records, which would give NASA officials more background information on which to base their decisions. This meant that no female candidates could earn consideration for the title of astronaut.Dashed line: region of weightlessness. At the top of the curve, the spacecraft's retrorockets were fired for testing purposes; they were not necessary for reentry because orbital speed had not been attained.Preparations for launch were made in the blockhouse. It started a day in advance with a pre-count, in which all systems of the launch vehicle and spacecraft were checked. After that followed a 15-hour hold, during which pyrotechnics were installed.Yellow: launch. Black dot: tracking station. Red: range of station; Blue: landing. These names were not popularly used, since the astronauts followed a pilot tradition, each giving their spacecraft a name.February 1962.The Little Joe program used seven airframes for eight flights, of which three were successful. It reached an apogee of 0.751 kilometres (2,465 ft) and was recovered after landing. Top velocity: 436 metres per second (976 mph). Total payload: 1,154 kg.The Jupiter booster was, as mentioned above, intended to be used for different purposes. This led to the development of a project named Mercury 13 by the media. The Mercury 13 program was not officially conducted by NASA. It was created by NASA physician William Randolph Lovelace, who developed the physical and psychological tests used to select NASA’s first seven male astronauts for Project Mercury. The women completed physical and psychological tests, but were never required to complete the training as the privately funded program was quickly cancelled. The countdown of the last 10 sec.Archived from the original on January 4, 2013. One exception, by designation and intendedFleet Air Reconnaissance SquadronsIt provides survivable communication links between the National Command Authority (NCA) and Strategic Forces. The E-6 is a derivative of the commercial Boeing 707 aircraft. The weapon system is electromagnetic pulse hardened. Mission range is over 6000 Nautical Miles (NM). It carries a crew of five officers, nine enlisted aircrewmen, and up to four trainees for TACAMO missions. For ABNCP missions it carries five naval officers, nine naval enlisted aircrewmen, and a eight person battle staff as determined by the United States Strategic Command (J36).The modified aircraft have the designation changed from E-6A to E-6B. The E-6B modified an E-6A by adding battlestaff positions and other specialized equipment. The E-6B is a dual-mission aircraft capable of fulfilling either the E-6A mission or the airborne strategic command post mission and is equipped with an airborne launch control system (ALCS). The ALCS is capable of launching US land based intercontinental ballistic missiles. The E-6B is capable of performing both the TACAMO and ABNCP missions. This modification enables USSTRATCOM to perform current and projected TACAMO and ABNCP operational tasking using the sixteen dual mission E-6B aircraft. The E-6B was conceived as a replacement for the Air Force's Airborne Command Post due to the age of the EC-135 fleet. The first E-6B aircraft was accepted in December 1997 and the E-6B assumed its dual operational mission in October 1998. The E-6 fleet will be completely modified to the E-6B configuration by the year 2003.Each deployed crew will be self-supporting except for fuel and perishables. The mission requires a 24 hour commitment of resources (alert posture) in the Atlantic and Pacific regions.Maintenance of the systems is performed by the standard compliment of squadron ground and in-flight technician personnel with the exception of the ALCS which was maintained by the Air Force for eighteen months after Navy IOC.In spite of their new militaryPrototypes of both designsMuch modified and adapted, these stillSimilar in appearance, but considerablyBoth modelsE-6A is the final derivative of the 707-320 series to be added to the productionTen years later, the twoIn addition to the large radome mounted on struts above the aft fuselage,Particular attentionUpdated E-3s serve the Air Force, NATO, andE-6A designation was assigned for these airframes, to be built on the E-3AThe former, as EC-18Bs, feature a bulbousCenter, Warminster, Pa., looking for an expanded capability airframe forBoeing 707-320B was particularly attractive because of the availabilityHigher bypass ratio, more fuelEC-130s would be removed and reinstalled in the E-6As as they were completed. CFCTS equipment consists of two Operational Flight Trainers (OFTs), Academic Training System (ATS) and two In Flight Trainer (IFT) TC-18F aircraft. CFCTS provides ground training to pilots, navigators and flight engineers for initial qualification, refresher, instructor basic and upgrade, instrument ground school and basic flight engineer, utilizing instructor-based training, computer-based training and the OFTs. Flight training of the pilots (transition and in flight refueling) is accomplished in the TC-18F IFTs utilizing Navy instructor pilots and Navy and contractor instructor flight engineers. NTSU provides Airborne Communications Officer (ACO) and Aircrew (TACAMO Operator, Inflight Technician, Reel Operator) ground training.Structural tasks developed from E-3 maintenance requirement, Boeing maintenance planning data, RCM analysis of E-6 structural information. Under the Integrated Maintenance Concept, as much as possible, airframe work done in field; CLS for airframe and flight deck avionics and Navy support for mission avionics.SDLM requires 8 to 18 months out of service time. APML issued challenges in Jan 1992 to evaluate alternatives, minimize down time. This increased on site maintenance, send depot field teams out, mandatory depot only tasks. The option selected was combination of SDLM tasks performed in conjunction with phase maintenance with depot field team augmentation of squadron phase crew: Perform all scheduled maintenance when due (RCM based) Use avail manpower for appropriate level of maintenance. Taking depot tasks to field made easier because Tinker has depot collocated with squadron. No change of custody, reduced disassembly duplication (if an area is opened for O-level maintenance it is not re-opened by D-level), D-level artisan assists and trains O-level technician, spacing of D-level opportunities is months, not years. Up front investment is large because maintainers must anticipate parts available prior to induction. The process results in 365 days additional operating time every 5 years. This program gives greater visibility of the health of the airframe and, due to frequent access, provides opportunities to prevent high cost problems from developing. The modifiedaircraft (E-6B) will be capable of performing both the TACAMO and ABNCP missions. The E-6B Command Post Modification will enable STRATCOM to perform current and projectedTACAMO and ABNCP operational tasking, using the dual mission E-6B, effectively andreliably through the twenty-first century. RESY will perform integration and installation of several systems into the E-6 aircraft: The Airborne Launch Control System (ALCS) operates through the Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Communications, Command and Control (C 3 ) radios, enabling the E-6B to function as an Airborne Launch Control Center. The ALCS system allows determination of missile status in silos, launch, or change in missile assignments. The UHF C 3 Radio Subsystem adds three UHF transceivers that support 1,000 watt full-duplex transmissions using amplitude modulation (AM) or frequency modulation. The Mission Computer System enhances message handling and processing by providing user-friendly operations for message receipt, edit, storage, and transmit; identifying emergency action messages; and routing data among peripherals (printers, keyboards, etc.). The UHF SATCOM Receive System upgrade will replace the existing OE-242 antenna controller with a more reliable and supportable unit. Time of day, one-pulse-per-second, and precision 5 megahertz reference signals are distributed to very low frequency (VLF) and UHF communications equipment to provide accurate reference timing. The High Power Transmit Set replaces the existing 200 kilowatt VLF High Power Amplifier and Dual Trailing Wire Assembly, providing increased capabilities (including low frequency transmission spectrum) with significant reliability and operability improvements. Three dual-redundant MIL-STD-1553B data busses accommodate future modifications to the E-6B weapon system.
