Zach n Liz 3.0 out of 5 stars It fit my needs well in research into designing an auxiliary motor mount. Wish there was a more current version available though.I really learned a lot and was super useful for me to deal with Propeller dealers, many of them only have a very basic knowledge and will just sell you any prop.I learned enough from this book and some study of the contents to do a very satisfactory calculation for a new prop. Is it perfect ? I do not know, but it is certainly better then what I had. Very informative as well. The only thing about it that is not consistent with a brand new book is the previous owner's name in the froint. From it's pages, I can now figure within reason which prop best fits my boat, engine and driving styles. Thank you. MaxeyNot overawed by it not by a long chalk but you may like it. Quite frankly there are now some excellent calculators on the web.http://www.oncopathologie.com/userfiles/hp-48gx-graphing-calculator-manual.xml There are however one or two that calculate the boat speed first (from its weight and dimensions) and then calculate for the propeller.I'm no good myself at mathematics, but I ended-up making projections with those formulas, and it works. Very well explained. I'm sorry there is some typo some places in the formulas, but you can discriminate those errors by counter verify with the ample examples given.Derivations would also be welcome. The book will enable readers to size and select the correct propeller for their boat or for boats they may be working on. Solutions to propeller problems, installation considerations, propeller shafting, number of blades and blade area, boat speed and powering calculations and considerations, and much more are discussed in detail. In the twenty-seven years since the publication of the first edition, Propeller Handbook, has become a cornerstone resource that marine-industry professionals rely on. All material from the previous edition is completely rewritten to reflect the author's additional 27-years of experience in boat design and propeller selection since the first edition was introduced. Significant changes in the emphasis placed on factors such as blade area and propeller and engine matching, underlie the revised propeller-selection approach. Buttilione 4.0 out of 5 stars I'm no good myself at mathematics, but I ended-up making projections with those formulas, and it works. Nevertheless, a very useful addition to a technician's library.Simple to read Simple to read, Mr Gerr goes straight to the point with only essential information, which permits to have a quick understanding of the How and Why of propellers and boats. It is aimed mainly at small to moderate sized boats with an emphasis on planing craft. However, displacement and semi-displacement boats are also covered. The value of the book is in the clear exposition and the formulae, which allow anyone with even minimal practical or engineering skills to understand the material and choose a propeller for a given application. The publication of practical empirical formulae, some of which have been developed by the author, in a single volume is invaluable. The book contributes much more; the material can also be used for checking existing propeller designs and even reverse engineering purposes. Considering the price, the value of this book (especially in soft cover) is excellent. He gives you quick practical ways of estimating as well as more detailed methods for determining propeller requirements and performance. This book will benefit anyone dealing with propellers. This includes boat owners, repair yards and design offices. I am a professional engineer, practicing in naval architecture and marine engineering. As a result I have read a lot of material on this subject. This is the best reference on propellers that I have seen to date.It really helps a reader of average (myself) intellegence to project how a propeller will work in different situations. I made some spread sheets to work out the models and that really helped. It seemed to focus on the marine boating field, so I wouldn't expect too much if your interest is strictly in speed boats. Not overawed by it not by a long chalk but you may like it. There are however one or two that calculate the boat speed first (from its weight and dimensions) and then calculate for the propeller. It looks like a DIY scanned copy of the actual original. The handbook answers such questions as: why the engine won't reach its top RPM's; why the propeller shaft is vibrating; why the boat doesn't reach its advertised speed and if a bigger propeller will make the boat faster. Numerous ponds and small lakes can be found near the road, with ducks, geese and other waterfowl frequently present. Beavers can also be found in some years. Moose are the most likely large animal you'll see. Moose are the most likely large animal you'll encounter, though any wildlife sighting will need to be right alongside the road, for the most part. Visibility is often much reduced when hiking in or near brush, while animals accustomed to the nonthreatening noise of buses traveling the road may be easily spooked by your presence. If you plan to hike in Denali, you should learn the appropriate, safe behaviors in the event that you encounter a wild animal. Hiking in high alpine zones tends to mean you have more visibility, so you can avoid any large animals you encounter before getting too close. However, l ife in the far north is one of extremes, and one of the most immediately noticeable summer extremes is the length of daylight in Denali. Even when the sun sets, twilight fills the entire period before it rises again. Extensive daylight allows vegetation to flourish, sustaining herbivores and, by extension, carnivores. Whether the animal in question is a seasonal migrant or a year-round denizen, wildlife must be active and make the most of the short, intense summer. Some animals are less active in midday, particularly if skies are clear and temperatures are warm. However, since bus trips in Denali take anywhere from 4 to 13 hours, almost every bus travels partly during the warm midday hours, and partly during the cooler morning or evening hours. Therefore, the best time of day to try seeing wildlife is any time you are on a bus. Wildlife viewing in winter is much less common than in summer, though caribou, moose and wolves still roam the landscale, as well as smaller animals like foxes, coyotes and resident birds. Learn more about the seasons of Denali return to top of page Occasionally, bus riders are lucky enough for animals to appear near, or even on, the Denali Park Road. Such opportunities offer fantastic views to the naked eye, and during these opportunities, even a smart phone can capture great photos. More often, however, you will see wildlife at a distance, particularly in areas where the road travels above treeline. In such cases, binoculars will be useful to truly observe animals, and a stronger camera may be necessary to take worthwhile photos. Buses have overhead racks for additional gear, should you own and wish to bring an extensive array of professional photography equipment. If the sighting is close to the road, you can expect to stop for quite some time; if the sighting is of wildlife a mile away or high up on a mountainside, the stop will probably be shorter. Denali National Park and Preserve is about the same size as Switzerland, but it takes a far larger amount of land to support animals than in temperate regions. Even animals that travel in herds, like caribou and sheep, are usually only seen in small numbers, and sometimes at great distance. To fix it I had to go to the App section of my Amazon account, then permanently delete the app, and then go re-download it from the Fire directly. Any other way to put flash on this device without having to install 1Mobile? They offer the apk download directly from the web page. Just hit the install button and select “to PC” for the apk (they recently changed the layout; it used to be more obvious, now everything leads to a login screen). No need to register! It was probably from a stupid advertisement link. They make the download links all look similar. Look closely. I need to find a way to host apk files myself. And signing in doesn’t work with YouTube because there’s no Google services on the Kindle to finish the process. Im tempted to do this as i would like to get the google play store I wanted to let you know I am also having the same issue with the links downloading as zip files. I had about a month ago used them and they downloaded as apk files but I had to reset my Kindle. All is back to normal but when I went to download the same links they came up as zip files. I would love to be able to use your trusted site for these useful links. Can you offer any suggestions. Thank you ?? Are you sure it’s not a popup ad that is giving the zip file, because I’ve also experienced that from the Kindle Fire. Or maybe it’s the way Mediafire works by using different downloads. I don’t know how it works but they do something weird if the uploaded file already exists in their database because I’ve had large files upload instantly when they should have taken several minutes. Sometimes with apps they get uploaded as a zip file and then you have to use a file explorer to rename it to an apk file, so maybe that’s what’s going on. If anyone knows how to upload apk files with WordPress let me know. I’ve tried this repeatedly, and I always get the same message. I know that the outside source apps can download, as I was successful in downloading the dropbox app from the dropbox website, and installing it without a problem. Any suggestions as to why this is happening. And do you have any other source you could recommend for downloading the Dolphin Browser. Thanks in advance. Any suggestions? I was able to download Dolphin. When I tried the download link for flash, I got a message to click to repair the download. Then, when I tried to open the download, I got a message stating that it can’t open due to a parsing error. I tried it multiple times with the same result. This is not a huge issue for me, I mostly use my Fire as a reader, but I would like the option to use it for games and videos instead of my laptop once in a while. Any suggestions? Thanks, your tips are really helpful overall. First of all, great work. Does it have some sort of a counter. Or does it mean you can just upload 250 songs at one time if you don’t want to pay. I hope I made myself clear, I’m not a native speaker, sorry ?? These tips answer all of my questions that I have been having. Thank you so much! I also tried MoboPlayer but that was laggy. I am making sure I pick the kindle edition so I don’t understand what is wrong. Is there some setting I need to change or something I need to download. Any help is appreciated. Thank you You’ll need to use the regular Kindle Fire app to read the book if you got the Kindle version, after proceeding through Amazon’s process where you can choose which Kindle to send it to. It will work or do I pick the other one? Is there a way to apply a file name or icon to the clips so we do not have to guess what we want to view? My question is how do I do this through the Direct TV connection? When I click on the free ebook nothing happens, it flashes grey to indicate the active link but thats it. Any suggestions? Any suggestions? Select “Clear Data” in camera option. Now start your application and it will work perfect.
