Using this method my PC (using an nVidia 7900 GS card) allowed me to output plain 720P output to the TV, that the video drivers allow output to be manipulated many ways. Highly recommended! Tried resetting to factory settings, and also using the scrolling feature that is supposed to fix burn-in issues but there has been no change. Samsung support said I'll need to get an onsite technician to diagnose and fix this which will probably cost a third of what I bought this for. That said, the TV is sleek, and easy to use. Sound quality could be better. Please try again later. From the United StatesFor the price this TV is an excellent value. You won't be disapointed. Please try again later. C. S. Young 5.0 out of 5 stars It was also a great price for a gret HD tv.Please try again later. Z. Greenwood 5.0 out of 5 stars At this size it is impossible to see any difference between the this resolution and 1080p. Cable maxes out at 720 anyway so 1080p sets actually look slightly worse when hooked up to digital cable. I dont want to spend 500 on a blu ray player right now so I figure I will have this tv for at least a few years before the price of blu ray becomes widely affordable, by that time they will probably have a new format anyway. Great deal on a great TV, you cant beat free shipping and no tax. Please try again later. Jefrey L. Gebhardt 5.0 out of 5 stars I think if would have gone with a bigger tv then I would have gone with the 1080 but for the size the 720 is great. Please try again later. Phr3d 5.0 out of 5 stars I cannot recommend sanyo plasma displays. I looked originally because of the VGA-DSub connector that the Panny didn't have, as well as believing (and Not checking) the resolution specs to serve that PC. Expanding on the title - I was pretty sure there would be a loss in PQ, going with a set so much cheaper than the panasonic (80u), I am happy to report the opposite is true - I like it better. Used movie-cont60-brite40, all dynamics off for break-in.I have had 5.1 on Infinitys since I purchased the Yamaha, so I'd have settled for Not AWEful - and they are much better than not awful to my abused ears. Remote: keep it to teach my ancient but trusty sony universal, heheh, but no complaints (hard to tell front or back by feel, though). Color: I have used every built-in setting and can give high marks to movie AND dynamic, though I turn off the DNIe, so it may only be 'torch' when all enhancing circuitry is re-disabled. IMHO, choose dynamic for HD OTA sports and have insta-pop for the upcoming Olympics (wish it weren't NBC ). Posterization: I haven't spent a great deal of time actually Looking for it, and the kids viewing positions of 8' are the closest that I examine from, but I have not seen it on my set.I switch by remote to 16:9 if I have to watch it, as in local news. I find the real tell is from the Oppo. As suggested here, I tried 1080p as the output from DVD and saw no improvement from 480p. 720p on 16:9 gobbles 5 pixels per side, so 720p justscan for DVD here. Again, Oppo and OTA are the Only sources here. It is consistent as follows: talking head on grey-sky background, I believe the sky slow-wwly increases so that my eyes cannot perceive, then drops a brightness click down all at once. The gray screen-burn protection scroll screen has definite colors (magenta and yellow) appearing in the gray behind the darkest or starting bar. I'm not real excited about either issue - I will call samsung and complain - but hope that a firmware is already being written as I type this - NOT a deal breaker. The mild Image Retention disappeared completely after 50 hours and the colors lost their neon-esque in about 24. fwiw. NO STEWPID LOGO on ota PBS. Furthermore, I believe there is no better comparison source for depth and color than PBS, assuming a strong ota signal. Puts NBC to shame (self-evident) and what minimal amount of sports PBS does show, beats CBS (no abc HD signal here, lol. Fox is at least Trying HD, but haven't worked the kinks out yet.) No I am not employed or compensated by PBS for this biased review of ota signals, lol. I feel absolutely GREAT about this purchase, prefer this set to best friend's panny 80u - what I had planned to buy. Please try again later. Shoeman 5.0 out of 5 stars Set up was very easy. It was also very difficult to put this into our little Infiniti G20; we actually had to take it out of the shipping box and transport it with just the styrofoam (risky, but we were only driving a few miles). Some have complained about the sound- I find the speakers more than adequate and the sound fills the room. Of course they won't compare to surround sound theatre systems- what would. Some people just like to whine about these supposed shortcomings. I believe the contrast ratio is better than the similarly outfitted Panasonic model. I have heard worries about Samsung's longevity- but don't know that anyone has anything more than anecodatal evidence of that (knock on wood). A great HDTV at a tremendous price. We have a Comcast HD box and there seems to be no problems whatsoever in the signal; the HD channels look fantastic. We're awaiting an upconverting DVD player and HDMI cables to complete the purchase. But I can't imagine expending that kind of money in this economy and I can't imagine that the marginal improvement is at all worth the cost. Please try again later. BlackSCRunner 5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing for the money! I can only imagine this TV is as good or better, and I could not be happier with mine. The picture is stunning. Better than my Sharp LCD, way better than my Olevia LCD, better than the Sony plasma's I have seen, and also slightly better than the Panasonic that my friend has. For the money, I don't think you can do better. I was a Panasonic fan until I saw a friend's Samsung and was blown away by the colors, so sharp and vivid (and more so than the Panny). My next TV purchase will be a Samsung LCD which a friend has recently aquired and in 1080P and no plasma burn to worry about, it seems like the way to go, especially for video games. Incidently, I broke in my TV in as recommended, and I do play PS2 on it, and it has not displayed any permanent burn-in. If you buy this I don't think you will be disappointed! Please try again later. Kevin Ross 5.0 out of 5 stars Out of the box this thing is beautiful all around. I did a lot of research and going back and forth with LCD and DLP. I was going to jump on Samsung's new 5 and 6 series LCDs, but then I came across this plasma. I did some research on this new line and found that for the price I was getting A LOT of TV. I was set on grabbing up 1080p vs. 720p but at this size, I can't tell the diff. This thing performs. The menu is easy to navigate, the picture is crisp, the design is sleek and the offered features are more than I could ever expect at this price. Also, you can't beat the free HD TIVO that shipped with this. The PC to TV feature is great. Of course now with the new HD TIVO, we'll also stream movies and shows via the ethernet connection, which I originally questioned why we might need this option in a bedroom since we have wireless, but now I see it will come in handy. This will be another topic of discussion when I review the TIVO. The short of it.if you are looking for an HDTV and might be on the fence about this one.jump off and snatch it up. I'll now comment on the shipping. When I placed my order, Amazon had sent an email stating that the shipping date was going to be delayed. I had no problem with this, but it seemed I didn't have to wait long as a follow up email stated the TV shipped. The guy set it up and everything looked great. Please try again later. M. Seay 5.0 out of 5 stars What an excellent decision. The picture is crisp and clear, the colors are true, and the DVD playback is excellent and so is the game play from my 1g XBOX. Although I consider myself fairly savvy, setup seemed to be pretty easy following the directions and instructions in the owner manual. It has been three weeks and I have yet to be disappointed with any aspect of this television. I can't wait until I have saved up enough to buy a nice sound system and upgrade my DVD and XBOX!Please try again later. Carlos Frano Medina 5.0 out of 5 stars I went to a local store and saw this TV lying between the models described above - I thought it was a 1080 TV.Then came the issue of pricing and looks. Something told me to buy it and so I did. When I got home I was first disappointed in its display of standard cable (coaxial analog).Next day I took it to a friends house who has digital cable and lord behold - Digital Cable is 720P so there is no real use for a 1080 Tuner - Image quality was great. Then came the real reason I wanted a Plasma. My Sony Playstation 3 AKA Blue-Ray Player. OH MY GOD. I had purchased Metal Gear Solid 4 and Grand Turismo 5 Prologue. I could feel myself driving in the Ferrari F430, I could literally feel my self in the middle of war as I played MGS5. The definition, color depth, sharpness and lack of image noise was incredible. Its a great TV for any PS3 or new generation video game console. Then I went and purchased Transformers the Movie in Blue Ray. You can see every minor detail about Optimus Prime, Bumble-Bee and the rest of the characters. Believe me, I hate Digitally Remastered anything (just try using your digital zoom on a digital camera and you know hoe poor this technology usually is) but in this case IT WORKS. Both my games and Blue-Ray movies are converted to 1080p resolution and they look amazing. One complaint: Speakers at 10x2 watts are weak and have no bass power.I have a Sony 6.1 Home Theater. I just plugged it to get outstanding sound and a recreate a real movie theater experience. Any Sony, Denon op Kenwood Receiver with 5.1 or better performance (500 Watts at least) will solve this problem in a snap. It is definitely a great bang for your buck deal, it is truly designed for HDMI devices and it looks cool too. I am One Happy Camper! Please try again later. The picture is clearer, sharper the colors are sharper than the Dynex models. The only thing I don't like about it is that it made my room hotter. But anyway, even on Comcast cable (non-HD channels), the picture looks clearer, DVDs on my upconverter looks clear and great. I would recommend this item to anyone who's looking for quality for a good price. I have to say for the price you pay for this model, you're getting more out of it than what you pay for, it's almost as if you're robbing Samsung, because they give you more than what you pay for it. I just can't wait for my HDMI cable to come in from eBay so I can see what the 720p on the TV and DVD upconverter player looks like, but until now I have 480p as my highest resolution and I can already give good reviews out of it. I would recommend this to a friend Helpful (0) Unhelpful (0) Report Comment GouletJ GouletJ Rating 5 out of 5 stars with 1 review Great Value, great Posted 12 years ago. GouletJ Best Features. Great depth of colors, stunning black levels and best in class viewing angles. Sound is very rich and full even at lower levels. If you're into connecting many different sources. This is a great option. The design is elegant and inobtrusive. Image quality and contrast stands up well even in my living room that has extensive ambient light. HDMI and composite hookup on lt.I wish I could type in the names of the actual sources rather than label 360 as DVD and Wii as GAME.(Nit picking, I know). Comes with stand and it looks great. Perfect for my 1 bedroom apartment. No reason to go with the 1080p. Do your research and you'll see. Bigger t.v.?, yes maybe. I'm pulling from rabbit ears and soon cable and the picture is great. The options for picture are very good and have several adjustable choices. I read past reviews that said it's minimal, but it's actually good. The viewing angle is great by the way. My other con is the remote. It's a very generic remote. It's not programmable and not back-nit. Also, the buttons are so far apart it's not easy to use with one hand. I'm all about consolidation and efficiency and this remote doesn't have it. BOTTOM LINE - great TV for the money. I plan on keeping for a long while. If I do upgrade, this one is going in my bedroom. You won't be disapointed. I would recommend this to a friend Helpful (0) Unhelpful (0) Report Comment Crimsonjassic Crimsonjassic Rating 5 out of 5 stars with 1 review Excellent HDTV for the Price Posted 12 years ago. Crimsonjassic My mom's old SDTV recently died on her so we decided to finally upgrade to an HDTV. Headed down to Best Buy and browsed the selections and immediately this TV stood out as one of the best-looking ones on display. The reason it's cheaper is because it's a 720p TV and for hardcore HDTV buffs that might be a turn off, but to be honest, for an average user, I couldn't tell the difference between the image quality of this TV and other 1080p TVs on display. It looks absolutely gorgeous in her living room. It's also got plenty of options to fiddle with the sharpness, contrast, colors and sound as well. Plenty of inputs with some conveniently located on the side. The downside is that it only has one composite port so you're gonna be outta luck if you have a lot of non-hd devices-- just upgrade your cables to hd cables; don't degrade your TV to sub-quality signals. You also need to change the color settings a bit on the set as well seeing as how the factory defaults tend to make skin tones look unnaturally red. Once you fiddle with it a bit though, the image looks stunning-- even standard definition signals and regular DVDs look extremely good on this TV. Also, it's a plasma TV so the risk of image burn-in is higher on this TV than an LCD, but the TV comes with several burn-in counter-measures and fixes so it shouldn't be an issue. I hear as long as you run the TV without burning it in for the first 100 hours or so of use, then the burn-in risk will be significantly reduced-- like to that of an LCD TV. The image quality far outweighs the risk of burn-in though. Don't even worry about this insignificant issue. The sound is pretty good for HDTV speakers. It can't beat a surround sound system, but they get the job done well enough. This TV definitely has the absolute best bang for your back right now. I'll be getting one for myself very soon.:) Highly, highly recommended. I would recommend this to a friend Helpful (0) Unhelpful (0) Report Comment iivit iivit Rating 5 out of 5 stars with 1 review Excellent TV Posted 12 years ago.You seriously cannot tell the difference between 720p and 1080p when sitting 6 or so feet away (if you are sitting closer than that, you might need help!). The contrast ratio blows LCD out of the water. Excellent picture! The only issue you might have with this TV is if you plan on using it as a PC monitor. It uses a resolution of 1024x768 with 16:9 rectangular pixels (as opposed to the square 4:3 ones your PC is expecting). This leads to a stretched image when connected via the VGA cable. It is very clean and crisp, but obviously stretched. The solution to this is to use HDMI. You can then send a widescreen resolution (such as 1280x720) to the TV and it will display it with the propper aspect ratio. The only issue with this is that text will not appear as clear as it does over VGA. Anyways. aside from that. Xbox 360. and even the Wii look great. DVDs are also excellent. I wasn't sure of the Plasma for gaming, but the salesperson ensured me it would be OK because of the burn in protection feature on this set. I hooked up my Playstation 3 to this and was disapointed at first, but played with the menu's pictures settings and was wowed. OK, honestly you could see minor differences between the 1080 and the 720, like the sharpness of crosshairs in shooter games, but after a couple of hours, who cares. The details were that minimal. When it came to playing BlueRay discs, I honestly thought this set looked just as good, if not better than the LCD. I believe it is because of the glass screen and the richer colors that a plasma set can offer. When watching cable television, this set looks much better than the 1080 LCD, reason being the same as above, you can't get the same rich colors and sharp image when viewing through a glass screen compared to a matted plastic one. If you don't believe me, you got to get over here and see for yourself. I would recommend this to a friend Helpful (0) Unhelpful (0) Report Comment bsmitty902 bsmitty902 Rating 5 out of 5 stars with 1 review Glad I chose this over the LG Posted 12 years ago.The Best Buy I got it from didn't have the PowerPrice tag on and the had to let me use my 12 off. OK so it's not 1080P but neither is my 2 year old Pioneer and it looks better than any 1080P LCD I've seen. I highly recommend getting Monster Cables Calibration DVD. Best Buy does not sell it but Sony Style stores do. Way better than spending 300 bucks to have a so called Pro do it. This set has like 4 features for burn in and so many adjustments I actually had to read the manual, the DVD helps a lot. They say to make 2 adjustments, 1 for daytime and the other for night. I never thought of this for my Pioneer. And will be making some adjustments to it and all my computer monitors. Overall for the price I got it for I think I got a great buy. P.S. it does had a 5-band EQ, so if you don't have it hooked up to a stereo you can mess with the sound that way. Seems like a lot of these HDTV's don't have the best built in speakers. And the only thing LCD is good for is a computer monitor. I would recommend this to a friend Helpful (0) Unhelpful (0) Report Comment bwmarket bwmarket Rating 5 out of 5 stars with 1 review Outstanding television Posted 13 years ago.Not only have I had zero problems, but the quality of the picture is incredible. I did a lot of research before I finally purchased my first large screen tv in January 2008. I know, I'm a late-adopter, but I'm fairly cheap and I like to buy stuff once the bugs are worked out. I had started my search by looking at the cheaper models, such as LG and Westinghouse, but the reviews on all of the sites for those brands were terrible. The best reviewed models were all Samsung and Panasonic. I went to the store, compared picture and prices, and decided the Samsung was the television for me. It happened to have an extra great sale that day, but what really sold me was the housing for the unit. Other televisions have such an industrial look, but this one looks great even when it's turned off. I was also leaning toward the LCD, but really liked the crispness of the glass screen, as opposed to the matte screen that LCDs have. I would recommend the Samsungs to anyone looking for a flat screen tv. They assured the tv had not been damage during delivery and were very courteous. The sound isn't bad at all.I am very pleased with this TV and it was a great buy and for the price you can't beat it. I compared both plasma and lcd and went with plasma.HD video is unbeleivable and standard digital cable is top notch. The tv also looks great mounted on the all which also freed up a ton of floor sapce and keeps it out of reach for toddlers, a big plus.If you are thinking about this set, trucst me you wont be dissapointed.
