Icon Glossar y The Icon Glossary is a list of all icons used on your phone. ? Making a Cal l 1. Open the phon e. 2. Using the keypad, enter the ph one nu mber, th en press th e Send Key. Note: T o make a call using a speed dial, enter the speed dial digits, holding down the last digit until the phone dials the stored telephone number. For more information about assigning Speed Dials, see “Speed Dials” on page 45. Note: These are default answer options. Y ou can choose other options for answering calls. Setting up Fak e Calls Enable, and choose opti ons, for Fake Calls. 1. From the Home screen, select MENU. Initiating a F ake Call. From i dle mode with t he phone c losed and the external keys unlocked, press the V olume Key down 4 times. After the Fake Call T imer period elapses, your phone rings to notify you of the fake call. If you entered Fake contact Info, it appears on the screen.When you answer the Fake Call, you’ll hear the Fake Call Voice, if you selected it in Fake Call settings. For example, when you receive a call or me ssage, your phone reads out the caller’s (or sender ’ s) name and number, and Call Alert sounds will play, even if yo u have set Master Volume to Sounds Off or Vibrate Only. Enabling Driving Mode with the Spea kerphone K ey. With the phone c losed, press and hold the Speakerphone Key. Enabling Driving Mode in Settings 1. From the Home s creen, select MENU.Whether at ho me, in the office or across the country, you can quickly connect with one o r multiple users a t the same time with just a push of a button. In this case, your voice will be bro adcast instantly over t he recipient’ s speaker. Enabling PTT Mode on Y our Phone Y ou must contact Verizon Wireless to activate Push-to-T a lk service on your account. Once Push-to-T alk ser vice has been activated, please follow these steps to enable Push-to-T alk on your phone. 1. From the Home screen, select MENU. Tip: PTT calls are automatically connected when the phone is closed. T o end a call, press and hold the Speakerphone Key.Y our phone supports Contacts and PTT Contacts. A contact record can be copied to a PTT cont act. Note: PTT Mode must be On to use PTT Contacts and PTT Groups. For more information, see “PTT Mode” on page 101. In the Name: field, enter a name fo r the conta ct using the keypad. 4. Use the Directional Key to highlight fields to enter information for the contac t, including at least one phone number, email, or IM address. 5. When finished, press SAVE. Save ? Add New Contact. 3. Use the Directional Key to highlight Mobile 1, Mobile 2, Home, Business or Fax, then press OK. 4. In the Name: field, ente r a name for the contact using the keypad. 5. Use the Directional Key to highlight fi elds to enter information for t he contact. 6. When finished, p ress SAVE. Adding a Conta ct from R ecent Calls Save a telephone number from a re cent call record as a contact. 1. From the Home screen, press the Send Key to display Recent Calls. 2. Use the Directional Key to highlight a recent call. 3. Press the Right Soft Key Options. Save to Contacts ? Add New Contact. 4. Use the Directional Key to highlight Mobile 1, Mobile 2, Home, Business, or Fax, then press OK. 5. Enter a name for the contact in the Name: field. 6. Continue adding information to fields, or press SAVE. Erase, then follow the prompt s to complete the erasure. Erasing Multiple Contac ts 1. From the Home screen, press the Right Soft Key Contacts. 2. Press the Right Sof t Key Options. Manage Contacts ? Erase. 3. Highlight a co ntact, then p ress MARK to mark it for erasure, or press the Right Soft Key Mark All to mark all contacts. 4. Press the Left Soft Key Done, then follow the prompts to confirm the era sure. 5. At the prompt, enter the Lock Code. By default, the Lock Code is the last four digi ts of your te lephone number. Editing a Contact Make changes to an existing contact. 1. From the Home screen, press the Right Soft Key Contacts. 2. Highlight a c ontact, then press the Left Soft Key Edit. 3. Use the Directional Key to move to fields to modify or add infor mation for the co ntact. 4. When finished, press SAVE. Update Existing. 3. Use the Directional Key to highlight Mobile 1, Mobile 2, Home, Business or Fax, then press SAVE. 4. Use the Directional Key to move to fields to modi fy or add information for the contact. 5. When finished, p ress SAVE. Editi ng a Co ntact from Recent Calls Save a telephone number from a re cent call record to a contac t. 1. From the Home screen, press the Send Key to display Recent Calls. 2. Use the Directional Key to highlight a recent call. 3. Press the Right Soft Key Options. Save to Contacts ? Update Existing. 4. Use the Directional Key to highlight Mobile 1, Mobile 2, Home, Business, or Fax, then press OK. 5. Enter a name for the contact i n the Name: field. 6. Continue adding in form ation to fiel ds, or press SAVE. Adding Pauses or Waits Calls to automated systems can re quire you to enter numbers to navigate menus, or to enter a password or account number. Y o u can store phone numbers with speci al pause or wait characters to make entering th ese numbers easier. 1. From the Home screen, press the Right Soft Key Contacts. 2. Create a new c ontact, or edit an existing contact. A “W” appe ars in the fie ld to indicate the wait. 4. When finished, press SAVE. Note: Entering multiple pauses extends the length of a pause, and each pause counts as a digit. For example, two consecutive pauses create a total pause of four seconds, and count as two digits. Using Contacts Making Calls Usin g Contacts 1. From the Home screen, press t he Right Soft Key Contacts. 2. Highlight a contact, then press the Send Key to call the contact. Sendin g Messa ges Using Cont acts 1. From the Home screen, press t he Right Soft Key Contacts. 2. Highlight a contact, then press the Right Soft Key Options. New Message to choose a message type. For information ab out creating and sending messages, see “Messaging” on page 57. If your phone is lost, stolen or damaged, Backup Assistant can restore your saved address book to a new phone - wirelessly. Schedule daily backups save your information ma nually or automati cally. Note: Standard TXT messaging rates apply. Backup Assistant is free for My Verizon subscribers. ? From the Home screen, select MENU. Contacts ? Backup Assistant. Fa vorites Set contacts as Favorites, to qu ickly find contacts to view, send a message or call t he contact. Assigning F av orites 1. From the Home screen, select MENU. Note: Highlight an empty Favorite and press ASSIGN. Remo ving Fav o rites 1. From the Home screen, select MENU.For information abo ut viewing a nd managing messages, see “Messaging” on page 57. Groups Y ou can assign contacts to cate gories, called Group s, to make searching your contacts faster, or to quickly send messa ges to group memb ers. Addin g Contact s to Grou ps 1. From the Home s creen, select MENU. Contacts ? Groups. 2. Use the Directional Key to highlight a group. 3. Press Right Soft Key Options ? Add. 4. Highlight contact( s) and press MARK to place a checkmark beside th e contact. 5. Press the Left Soft Key Done to add the contacts to the group. Note: Y ou can also assign a contact to a group when you create or edit the contact record. Creati ng a New Gr oup In addition to the default gro ups, you can create additional groups. 1. From the Home screen, select MENU. Contacts ? Groups. 2. Press Left Soft Key New. 3. At the prompt, enter a name for the ne w group. 4. Press SAVE to save the new group. Note: Messaging availability varies when roaming outside the Verizon Wireless Network. 1. From t he Home screen, sele ct MENU. For information about creating and sending messages, see “Messaging” on page 57. Speed Dials Speed dials are 1-, 2-, or 3-dig it shortcuts you assign to contacts, to allow yo u to quickly call the contact. Note: Some Speed Dials are reserved by default, and cannot be assigned: Speed Dial 1 is reserved for Voicemail. Speed Dial 211 is reserved for health and human services. Speed Dial 311 is reserved for for non-emergency municipal services. Speed Dial 411 is reserved for for directory assistance. Speed Dial 611 is reserved forfor customer service access. Speed Dial 911 is reserved for emergency calls. Assigni ng Spee d Dial s 1. From the Home s creen, select MENU. Contacts ? Speed Dials. 2. Use the Directiona l Key to highlight a speed dial, or enter a speed dial in the Go T o field, then press SET. 3. At the prompt, use the Directional Key to highlight a contact, or enter the first fiel d characters in the Go T o field. 4. Press OK. 5. At the prompt, conf irm the assignment. Edit ing My N ame Card By default, My Name Card co ntains your mobile telephone number. Y ou can edit My Name Ca rd to include ot her information. 1. From the Home screen, select MENU. Contacts ? My Name Card. 2. Press Edit. 3. Use the Directional Key to move to fields to modify or add informati on. 4. When finished, press SAVE. Sending My Name Card (vCard) by Message Send your contact in formation, as My Name Card, as an attachment to a messa ge. 1. From the Home screen, select MENU. F or more information about Bluetooth, see “Bluet ooth” on page 96. For more information about adding devices, see “Bluetooth” on page 96. Emergency Contacts Set up to 3 emergency contacts, plus enter person al information that may be helpfu l to others using your phone in an emergen cy. Tip: Emergency contacts display in green in Contacts. Assigni ng Emer gency Contac ts 1. From the Home screen, press t he Right Soft Key Contacts. 2. In Cas e of Eme rgenc y is highlighted automatically.Ente ring P ersona l Informatio n Enter up to 3 notes co ntaining informat ion that might be helpful to others using your phone in an emergenc y. 1. From the Home screen, press the Right Soft Key Contacts. 2. In Case of Emergency is highlighted automa tically. Press VIEW to set emergency contacts. 3. Select Per so na l In f o, then press VIEW. 4. Highlight Note 1, Note 2, or Note 3, then press ADD. 5. Enter your personal informatio n, then press SAVE to save the note. Sendin g Name Car ds ( vCar ds) by Bl uetoot h Send individual contacts, or your entire co ntact li st, to Bluetooth devices that support vCards. Not all Bluetooth devi ces will accept a na me card, and not all devices support transfers of mult iple name cards. For information about adding devices, see “Bluetooth” on page 96. For information about creating and sending messages, see “Messaging” on page 57. A contact’ s mobile telephone number m ay be their PTT number, if they are al so subscribed to PTT service. Note: PTT contact options are only available when PTT Mode is On. For information about turning PTT Mode on or off, and using PTT Mode, see “Push-to-T alk (PTT) Functions” on page 26. 1. From the Home screen, select MENU. Contacts ? New PTT Contact. 2. Press the Right Soft Key Options. New Contact. 3. In the Name: field, enter a name for the contact using the keypad. 4. Use the Directional Key to highlight the PTT Number field to enter the contact’ s PTT number. 5. Use the Directional Key to highlight the PTT Group field, then press the Left So ft Key Add to assign the PTT contact to a PTT group (optional). 6. When finished, press SAVE. Adding a PTT Con tact from R ecent Calls Save a telephone num ber from a re cent call record as a contact. 1. From the Home screen, press the Send Key to display Recent Calls. 2. Use the Directional Key to highlight a recent call. 3. Press the Right Soft Key Options. Save to PTT Contacts. Add New Contact. 4. This section describes text input modes and enter ing characters or symbols, using the ke ypad. Changing the T ext Entr y Mode Y ou can change the entry mode to your preference. 1. While entering text, press the Left Soft Key to display a list of entr y modes. 2. Highlight an entry mode, then press OK. Entering T ext using T9 W or d T9 Word is a predictive text entry mode that rec ognizes common English words matching the sequen ce of your key presses and inserts the most common word into your text. T9 W o rd requires only one key press per letter of th e word, and is much faster than traditional t ext entry. ? T o switch to T9 Word mode, press the Left Soft Key, then select T9 Word.Palabra requires only one key press per let ter of the word, and is much faster th an traditional t ext entry. ? T o switch to Palabra mode, press the Left So ft Key, then select Pal a b r a. Entering T ext using Abc Mode Abc Mode is standard text en try mode for mo bile te lephones. ? T o switch to Abc mode, press the Left Soft Key, then select Abc.Press and hold to clear m ultiple numbers in a string. Entering Symbols Use Symbols mode to enter common symbol s into a text fie ld. ? T o switch to Symbols mode, press the Left Soft Key, then select Symbols. Press the Left Soft Key Prev to move to the previous page, or the Right Soft Key Next to move to the next page of symbols. Tip: Y ou can also press the key for the number corresponding to a symbol. Use the Directional Key to move to the Te x t: field to compose your messa ge. Press the Left Soft Key Sounds to launch My Sounds to ad d a pre-loaded sound, or record a new sound to at tach to the message. Press the Left Soft Key Add, then se lect My Name Card, or Contacts to choose another cont act’ s name card. 9. Press SEND, or the Send Key to send the message.
