Kevin C 1.0 out of 5 stars It skirts around the basics of Android, but this is by no means a guide. I wish I could give negative stars. Being a second edition you'd think they'd iron out the grammatical, spelling and formatting errors. I'd especially prefer not to see the same paragraphs copied multiple time.http://iaido-iaijutsu.ru/userfiles_exc/how-easy-is-it-to-learn-to-drive-a-manual-car.xml

I can look past the tricks used to add extra pages if there was something of substance here. If the font and formatting were normal, it would be a pamphlet. Do you self a favor, buy a real book on android programming; Not this mess.Entire paragraphs are repeated and huge sections of the book are gigantic useless tables. This is clearly someone's very successful money making scheme, where they put zero effort into the product and a huge amount of effort into fake amazon reviews. No one who has opened this book could give it more than 1 star. I am an experienced programmer in other programming languages and a programming teacher. This book is not suitable for anyone in any walk of life.Seems like it was a poor translation from another language. Lacks needed detail in some parts. Was hoping for a good reference for function calls and objects. All the incorrect word choices, typos, and cut-and-paste errors are extremely distracting from the intended content, so much so that it casts the validity of any of the content into doubt.I've been taking Java courses for about a year now and have read about 6 different books covering various elements of Java programming (Standard Java, Java Server, Java for Android). This was, without doubt, the worst Java book - and possibly the worst book altogether - I have ever read. The formatting in the book is, um, bad. It's as if they wrote it in MS Word and printed it themselves. When learning to program effectively, the material needs to be a tad bit more comprehensive than 170 pages. Additionally, the content the author chooses to include is, by any measurement I can justify using, absurd. I suggest the Big Nerd Code Ranch (BNCR) books or the Head First (HF) books. If it's within budget, I'd suggest buying both since the BNCR books are more instructional and you will really get your hands dirty and the HF books explain content in a more fun, easy-to-remember way. They would compliment each other nicely.http://28jaya.com/userfiles/how-easy-is-it-to-learn-to-drive-manual.xmlHowever, its worse characteristic is that is is poorly written. In fact, it is honestly the mostly poorly written published work I have ever encountered. Clearly this book went to print without the benefit of a good editor. The countless grammar errors suggest it is written by someone that has not mastered English writing skills. That is not to say that the content is totally without merit. You can usually, though not always, get the intent of the author despite the poor grammar.Like trying to read the ramblings of an illiterate mongoose high on cough medicine and tropical lucazade. I think it must be translated from another language by some primitive version of Google translate and then padded out with tedious repetition in order to meet a minimum word count. How anyone has given this book anything more than one star is a mystery, I can only think that they have reviewed without reading. The author has included a lot of good basic understandable information in book. It breaks down the steps into a nice simple process. Great book if you want an overview of app development.I am totally new to doing this and didn’t know where to start, but this little book provided all the information I needed to install my own Android Studio then learn to use the Android SDK Manager. When I started I thought the whole process would be too daunting and it was going to be too complicated for me, however this informative little book has been a God send. Well worth getting for its excellent, clear advice, and I loved the way it explained how to put the personal touches on the app.It takes you step by step, through building an app, which is exactly what I needed - highly recommended.
