RACK MOUNTING The DVR5100 mou nts into an in dustry-sta ndard 19-i nch (48 cm) equ ipment rack. The DVR5100 oc cupies 2 RU ( 3.5 inches or 8.9 cm) o f vertical rack space. The hard ware necessary to mount the DVR5100 into a rack is supplied with the unit. Rear doors may b e used only o n rack column s that are mor e than 26 inch es (66.0 cm) de ep. Figure 5 an d Figure 6 on page 13 identify ea ch piece o f hardware f or rack mo unting. T o install the DVR5100 in a rack: 1. Attach one chassis mo unting bracke t to each side of th e DVR5100. Use four 10-32 x 0.25-i nch Phillips pan head screws for each bracket. Attach the brackets so that the tapered ends are positione d toward the rear of the DVR5100. Figure 5. Chassis Brackets and Rubber Feet 2. Remove th e four rubbe r feet from t he underside of the unit. Save the rubb er feet an d screws for possible futu re use. WAR N I NG: Do not pl ace the DVR510 0 unit on its s ide. In th is position, the unit may fall over and cau se equipment damage or pe rsonal injury. WAR N I NG: Slots and open ings in the cabine t provide ventil ation to preven t the unit from over heating. Do no t block these openi ngs. Never place th e unit near or over a radiator o r heat regist er. P rovide proper ventilation when placi ng the unit in a built-in in stallation, such as a rack. NOTE: The suppor t rail assembl ies are id entical and can be use d on the ri ght or left side of th e rack. a. Position the ear of the front-mount rail agai nst the front of the equipment rack. Alig n the top and bottom holes in the ear o f the rail with the threaded holes (or cage n uts) in the rack. b. Using two 10-32 x 0.5-inch Phillips flat head screws, attach the ear of the ra il to the front of the rack. Insert the screws from the outside of the rack, pointing to wards the r ear. c. Adjust the rails to the cor rect depth of the equipment rack by sliding the rear -mount rail to the back of the e quipment rack. d. Position the ear of the rear -mount rail agai nst the rear exterior of the equipment rack. Align the top and bottom holes in th e ear of th e rail with the threaded holes (or cage nuts) in the equipment rack. (3) SCREWS, 8-32 X 0.375 PHILLIPS TRUSS HEAD CAGE NUT This step may requir e two people to lift and slide the unit into place. CONNECTING VIDEO INPUT The DVR5100 can r ecord up to 20 camer as with a combinat ion of analog an d IP camera inpu ts. The list bel ow details the n umber of analog and IP cameras each mode l can suppor t. NOTE: Unused analog inp uts cannot be substi tuted for ad ditional IP came ra inputs. Figure 12. In addition, t he DVR5 100 can be inte grated with an Endura netwo rk for cent ralized managemen t through the Endura s ystem. T o avoid possibl e network co nfli cts, consult your network administrator and the DVR5100 Network De sign Guide (C3640M) befo re installing the DVR5100. For Pelco IP cameras, access the Web pages fo r the IP cameras. 2. Add the D VR5100 IP ad dress in the “IP address ” field fo r each camer a. 3. Enter the DVR510 0 IP address in the NTP time field if you want the DVR510 0 to also serve as the IP camera’ s time server. If n ot, type the time server IP addr ess. Once associat ed, the IP came ra can be prog rammed and con figured just li ke any other input on the DVR5 100.Enabling line lock on camer as may cause vi deo distorti on, especially if the power source is susceptible to noise. Coaxitron is Pelco’ s up -the-coax technology. It requires only a coaxi al cable. No other wiring or equipment is required. Wh en the DVR5 100 receives a camera cont rol command, it transmits that command up the coaxial cable to the PTZ device. Co axitron is a sing le-directio n protocol; t he PTZ devic e cannot return any da ta to the unit. The Pelco D (4-w ire) and Pelco P (2-wire) protoc ols use additional wiring to contr ol the PTZ camera. When t he DVR5100 receives a camera contro l command, it transmits that command to the positioning device throug h the RS-422 serial interf ace. If you are u sing Coaxitro n, connect t he PTZ devi ce to one of t he DVR5100 an alog BNC input s. The camera must be configu red to su pport Coaxitron. The input on the DVR5100 must be enabled for C oaxitron in the DVR5100 me nus. If you are using the Pelco D or Pelco P protocol, co nnect each ca mera to the DVR5100 using the pin assign ments list ed in T able D. The in put must be enabled for th e DVR5100 serial prot ocol. Refer to Basic Camera Setup on page 43 for instructions on configurin g cameras for PTZ control. T o enable Coaxitron op eration, connect the PTZ device to the video input on the DVR5100.T o use looping video: 1. Connect a coaxial cable to th e video out connector on the rear p anel. 2. Connect t he other en d of the coax ial cable t o the analo g device. 3. After installation, turn of f the termination for the video chan nel. 4. If you are looping video to ad ditional devices, set the terminat ion to Hi-Z on each device to disable termin ation. Set the te rmination to 75 ohms on the last device to enable termina tion. NOTE: Ghosting or other imperfect ions may appe ar in the vi deo signal if you do not terminate t he video sign al at the l ast device in the series. The unit encode s audio and video signa ls simultaneousl y, which lets you control au dio at the monitore d location. Each au dio inp ut may be associate d with one or more vi deo inputs. Refer to Basic Camera Setup on page 43 for informati on on configur ing audio in puts.The unit supports line-level inpu ts. Microphones must be amplified for be st results. Figure 15. DVR5100 Audio Connections T o connect audio devices: 1. Make sure your audio input device mat ches the 1 Vp-p line inpu t level. Audio dis tortion pr oblems may occur if th e device a nd line input levels do not match. 2. Make sure the audio connecto r is wired as follows: 3. Connect a line input de vice or preamplified microphone to the audio connector for the rear panel audio input. Figu re 18 shows how to wire t he alarm terminal block and connect it to the DVR5100.T o prev ent false a larms on un used alarm in puts, lea ve the alarm in the Uns upervised mode with t he Silent Al arm enabled (refer t o Alarms Setup on page 54 for a descr iption of co nfiguring a nd working wit h alarms). Figure 19 illustrates how to wire an alarm device to the Alarm 1 (A1) input. Refer to T able F for the specific connecto r pin assi gnments. Figure 19. Con necting Alarms CONNECTING A SEQUENCE MONITOR Connect a comp osite video monitor to the SEQ output co nnector to di splay video f rom the anal og cameras. Use an uninterruptible power supp ly (UPS) (not supplied) for grea ter reliability. UPS devices main tain a limited amount of back up batter y power in case the main power fails. The UPS should have a minimum rating of 60 V A for 115 V AC, or 75 V A for 230 V AC. T o connec t power: 1. Connect one of the supplied US, European, or UK standard power cords to the rear of the unit. 2. Connect the cord to the appropriate power source. T able F. This mirroring of the operat ing system drive is a critical aspect of the reliability desi gned into the DVR510 0. Once tu rned on, the two databases are synchro nized regula rly. If a hard disk drive f ailure occ urs, this syn chronization ensures th at the system ca n recover q uick ly and effi ciently by replacing t he failed dr ive. The s tartup time is extended as a result of the databas e synchron ization. The DVR5100 fron t panel control pad contains four color -coded function buttons. The lights of the cont rol pad cycle throu gh various color combin ations during th e startup proc ess. Once complete, th e blue and red function buttons on top of th e control pad are steady. At this point, you can either log on to th e unit or change the output monito r con figuration. CHANGING THE MONITOR CONFIGURATION The default DVR51 00 monitor co nfiguratio n is VGA. Y ou shou ld see the log on prompt if you a re using a VGA mon itor. The unit will restart in a co mposite monitor o utput mode. NOTE: Figure 20 shows the monitor sele ction label that is positioned on the top of t he DVR5100. Figure 20. Monitor Selection Label LOGGING ON FOR THE FIRST T IME Each time you start the DVR51 00, the syst em automatica lly begins a 6 0-second co unter. This featur e allows the s ystem to aut omat ically log o n the designa ted user ea ch time the D VR is rebooted (for example, after a p ower failur e or when the u nit is resta rted for any rea son). Figure 21. Autologin Dialo g Box An administra tor can enab le or disab le the aut ologin feat ure from th e General Syst em setup s creen. In ad dition, an Ad ministrato r can select a different user to aut omatically log on for future access. Once the time coun ts down to zero, the designated user is logged on.NOTE: As a security precautio n, change the user ID for autologin as part of the configur ation and s etup process. From the Gene ral Sys tem setup screen, select the guest user ID, or create a new user ID, as the default autologin user. Either of these user IDs will have li mited permissions, preventing unauthori zed access t o system sett ings. In Figure 22, the upper-left video pan e is selected (live view mode). In t his mode, you can choose any camera to dis play in the vide o pane. Figure 22. Qua d View SHUTTING DOWN THE DVR5100 Use the foll owing steps to shut down th e DVR5100. For securit y pu rposes, you can shut down the DVR5100 only if you have Adminis trator level permissions. 1. From the L ogin scree n, select th e admin use r ID, and then enter the appropriate admin password. 2. Select Shut Down to power off th e system. NOTE: If you are already logge d on, use the on-scr een menus to log off and f ollow the ste ps above. The DVR5100 saves all co nfigurati on information and record ed video, an d then shut s down. Doing so can cause da ta loss or may corrupt the database. Always follow the procedures in th is section to turn off the unit. With a utologin di sabled, the Login dialo g box remains on t he screen, a nd you or anot her operato r can log ba ck on to the system. While you are log ged off, the system contin ue s to record as configured.Semitransparent On-Screen Icon-Based Menu: Prov ides access to all oper ational func tions thro ugh a hierarchica l set of four option menus. Color -co ded icons make menu selection s easy. Video Pane: Displays video, either live from a camera or re corded from the unit’ s hard disk. Displays up to 16 video streams at on e time, in any combination of live and recorded video. Context Sensitive Help: A semitransparent, blue information ba r appears at the bottom of the main application window with he lpful messages.
