He has owned the car for the last ten years and during that time it has been pampered with no expense spared, resulting today with this breathtakingly beautiful example. Its mileage is supported with a superb Service History, service book and a file full of invoices and every MOT from new all in chronological order. He purchased the car in November 2008 from a fellow Maserati UK Owners club member that had owned it since April 2005. At time of sale in 2008 he confirmed that the car had never been tracked or ever used in the wet. It has only seen dry sunny days having being wax oiled and dry stored when not being driven. The upgraded GranSport exhaust system reverberates the V8 Maserati engine with an exceptional tone; this is iced by shiny chrome twin tail pipes. The roof and rear screen were replaced less than 2,000 miles ago, therefore the often costly issues relating to Spyder hoods have already been attended to. It had four brand new Bridgestone Potenza tyres fitted just 512 miles ago. It has a brand new set of genuine Maserati fitted Grigio carpet mats sealed in their factory bags ready for the new owner to enjoy a fresh from the factory feel. We have the original book pack, service book, tool kit, V5 and two keys, exactly as it would have rolled out of the factory floor. This highlights the kind of passion, care and attention to detail offered by the Spyders current owner. This car was rapidly developed throughout its four year lifespan and it took many by surprise when Maserati, now operating under the auspices of the Prancing Horse of Ferrari, unveiled the 4.2-litre Coupe in 1998. Although it looked superficially similar, the 4200GT was a radically different car. For a start, the last link to the Biturbo era, the twin-turbo 270bhp 3.2-litre engine, had been given the heave-ho in favour of a big, normally aspirated 390bhp 4.2-litre V8 developed by Ferrari and which Maserati got first dibs on. The silhouette of the Coupe was similar but look a little closer and the changes were manifest. The LED boomerang style lights were replaced by more conventional units and the electronics were a whole lot more sophisticated. Spyder open-topped models and Cambiocorsa semi-automatic options were also offered.
