Understanding the basics T urning your T V on or off T o turn your T V on or o ff (standby mode ): 1 Plug t he power cord into an A C power ou tlet. 2 Press (pow er). Y our T V turns on. 3 Pr ess again to turn off your TV. When you turn off your TV, it goes int o s tandb y mo de. War ni ng: When your TV is in standb y mode, it is still r eceiving p ower. T o complet ely disconnect pow er, unplug the po wer cor d. Note: If your TV does not rec eive an input signal for sever al minutes, it automatic ally goes into standby mode. Selecting the aud io mode Y ou can selec t the audio mod e for analog channel s. Note: Mono is aut omatically selected if the progr am is broadc ast in mono. If an audi o trac k is a vai lable, it pl ays. Playing T V audio only Y ou can turn off the picture on y our TV and listen to only the pr ogram audio. T o play only the TV a udio: 1 Press MENU. When you exit Audio Only mode, the Audio O nly option is automatica lly res et to Off. Changing channel settings A utomatically scann ing f or channels T o auto scan for channels: 1 Press MENU. T he on-screen menu opens. 2 Press or to highlight Channel, then press. T he Channel menu o pens. 3 Press or to selec t Air or Cable. 4 Press or to highlight Auto Scan, then p r ess ENTER. A confirmation box opens. 5 Press or to selec t Ye s, then press ENTER to start the scan. A progress box shows the progr ess of t he scan. Selec ting the signal source T o selec t the signal source: 1 Press MENU. The Channel menu opens. 3 Press or to selec t Air or Ca ble. 4 Press EXIT to close t he menu. T o hi de a channel: 1 Press MENU. The channel list opens. 4 Press or to highlight the cha nnel y ou want to hide (the default is to show the channel), the n press EN TER to r emove the check mark from the chann el. Note: If t he list has mor e than one page, p res s or t o scr oll thr ough the pages. 5 Press EXIT to close t he menu. Setting up a fa vorite channel l ist Y ou can create a fa vorite channel list so you can quickly browse thr ough your favori te channel s by pr essing F AVORITE, then sele cting a channe l from the fav orite channel list. T o set up the favorite channel list: 1 Press MENU. The on-screen menu opens. 2 Press or to highlight Channel, then pr ess. The C hannel menu opens. 3 Selec t the signa l source of the channel you want to set up on t he fav orit es list. 4 Press or to highlight Fav o ri t e, then press ENTER. T he favori te channel list opens. 5 Press or to highlight the ch a nnel you want to add t o the favorite list, then press ENTER to mark the channel. A check mar k appea rs if the chann el is added to the list. The ch eck mark disa ppears if y ou delet e the channe l from th e list. Adding or chang ing a channe l label If a channel is not already labeled, you can label the channel to make it easier to identify. Y ou can al so relabel a chan nel that is already labeled. T o label a ch annel: 1 Press MENU. T he on-screen menu opens. 2 Press or to highlight Chann el, then press. The Channel menu o pens. 3 Selec t the signal source of the channel y ou want to la bel. 4 Highlight Channel No., th en p res s o r to s el ec t t he c ha nne l you wan t to l ab el. 5 Press or to highlight Ch anne l Labe l. 6 Press ENTER to open channel labe l scr ee n. T he Chann el Label screen opens. 7 Press or to selec t a character, then press or to move to the next posi tion. Repeat this step to add more characters. 8 Press MENU to exit t o the previous menu. Check ing the DTV sign al strength Y ou can check the DTV s ignal strength to d etermine if you ne ed to adju st you r ant enna or dig ital cable inp ut.
