It boasts 20 megapixels of resolution, blazing-fast automatic focus, and cool features like full high-definition movie shooting. But your gateway to pixel proficiency is dragged down by the slim little book included in the box as a manual. You know everything you need to know is in there, somewhere, but you don’t know where to start. In addition, the camera manual doesn’t offer much information on photography or digital photography. Nor are you interested in spending hours or days studying a comprehensive book on digital SLR still photography that doesn’t necessarily apply directly to your 7D II. What you need is a guide that explains the purpose and function of the 7D II’s basic controls, how you should use them, and why. Ideally, there should be information about file formats, resolution, exposure, and special autofocus modes available, but you’d prefer to read about those topics only after you’ve had the chance to go out and take a few hundred great pictures with your new camera. Why isn’t there a book that summarizes the most important information in its first two or three chapters, with lots of illustrations showing what your results will look like when you use this setting or that. Now there is such a book. If you want a quick introduction to the 7D II’s focus controls, wireless flash synchronization options, how to choose lenses, or which exposure modes are best, this book is for you. If you can’t decide on what basic settings to use with your camera because you can’t figure out how changing ISO or white balance or focus defaults will affect your pictures, you need this guide. Gary A. 5.0 out of 5 stars You don't have to spend much time with this camera to realize how powerful it is as a fast action outdoor tool. David Busch made the complexity of setting this camera up and explaining it's functions very logical, and that's saying a lot. This book even details the use of flash with this camera, including the use of multiple Speedlites, something I am really fascinated with. I'll probably add the download for my Kindle soon as well. I can recommend this book for anyone in love with the 7D Mark II.For the money, this book used cheap plain paper, too bad.The content was Very Good, explained the 7d II along with lots of tips. Helped novice with settings for various situations, like birds in flight, Macro, etc. Helped one understand the full potential of the 7D II as one of the best APS size cameras on the market.Unfortunately this camera is so complex that it requires over 500 pages of how to information. I believe this book could have been better organized to start with a basic understanding and building on that as a user becomes more comfortable with the camera. However, this one in particular suffers severely from the absence of an alphabetical index, in my opinion. He is thorough and complete and provides enough technical detail to satisfy anyone who really appreciates this kind of information. As I read his book I was in complete NerdVana. Great Job! (for comparison, a video with comparable information; found on Creative Live, is over 7 hours!)I have several Canon cameras and have purchased David's reviews for each of them and am always impressed with his in depth knowledge of the particular workings of each model.http://horizonpestservices.com/userfile/excel-manual-pdf-romana.xml My only regret with the 7D mark ll review is not being in print format, not his fault but still a very valuable resource. All in all whenever I am thinking of purchasing a new camera or have already purchased one the most important accessory, in my opinion, is David's book on that particular model. It is very helpful in learning to use a very complicated camera if you do it from front to back. This is a note to the author. There are so many things that come up that I would like to quickly look up, but. no index. The chapter breakdown just doesn't work and it takes so much time to look and hope you can find what you need. This is a very large book. So i do appreciate all the drawings and detail, but please, next time an index please. It's complete with table of contents. A very long read, so I just go to the areas I need help with. Well worth the money. Don't bother with any of the other 7D books. Spent once and be happy.I also contacted David Busch through his website. He has been amazing, explaining how he struggled to find a replacement publisher for this book after his usual publisher closed down its photographic section. He described how many who had his pdf version of the book used search to act like an index. He also gave me a link to the pdf file so that I could do the same and to save me having to buy the extra version after I’d bought the printed book. Not only has DB produced, as usual, a first class book but he has also shown himself to be generous and committed to his readers.
