The fuel gets used throughout the tow season and a fresh tank is added coming home from the last trip of the year. In the spring all the fuel is pumped into the mower (holds 11 gallons) 5 gallon jugs and the remainder goes in the car. Then fresh fuel added to the Cyclone, with treatment. Once a month the genny is started, allowed to warm up then run for about 30 minutes under a load, 2 heat strips in AC units and a 1500 watt Pelonis. A 5 minute cool down period and then shut down. I figure this is about the best you can do with a gasoline generator. I do the same with my Honda 3000. Night before leaving for a week of boon-docking at Dover the Onan would not run well. Changed the fuel filter and called it a night. From past experience I learned that if you have a good portable genny and the means to bring it along, you may as well, so the Honda was already in the trailer. At Dover - 90 degrees and the Onan runs poor. Great, 1st day of a week trip and 1 AC down and 1 generator down, both primary units. Used the bedroom AC, the Honda and 2 12 volt portable Fantastic fans. The trailer already has multiple 12 volt outlets added for areas where we can't run genny's. The Onan throws codes for certain issues. Removing the cover gains access to a manual switch and circuit breakers. The switch may or may not be flashing red. If flashing it should be 3 flashes followed by a pause. This indicates a stored fault code. For example; 3 flashes - pause - 6 flashes - for a code 36. This will repeat until you press the switch again, which will clear the stored codes.http://e-cluny.cz/UserFiles/ewx14440w-service-manual.xml

If the switch is not flashing but there are stored codes you press the switch off 3 times, then the codes will start. 36 is a common code and the list of troubleshooting is long and pretty much covers every possible outcome. Including a fuel control solenoid replacement. I want to take the carb apart and look inside. Turns out there are 2 Onan dealers within 5 miles of Dover Speedway. Both dealers gave me pretty much the same information. Mine is a common problem. Onan no longer supplies any carb related parts, e.g. the gaskets and the fuel control solenoid. One of the dealers suggested that if the jets were clogged one way to help clear it would be to get it running a full speed and manually close the choke, forcing the pulling of fuel through the jets and vents. Reminds me of one of the tricks we use to do back in the late 70's, early 80's when fuel started to cause havoc with automobile carbs. Neither dealer knew anything about any recall on the fuel pump when I gave them the number. Back to the trailer to try once again. The Onan starts and runs great for the next 8 hours. Same thing the next day. 3rd day it acts up, will not come up to speed, sputters and stalls etc. One of the steps for code 36 is replacing the fuel control solenoid, you can't buy one so I did the next best thing - rapped it with a wrench several times. Runs smooth as butter now. Ran good for 2 days and acted up on the last day. Rapped the solenoid once again and it ran smooth. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD BTW, older 5500's have two fuel filters, same filter, so the 2nd is really useless. Onan has since bypassed it. If you have a 2 filter model there is a replacement fitting to remove it, part number A026E529 In the same picture, the adapter is the silver object with red paint on it, rubber hose attached to the bottom. This is where the 2nd filter would be if equipped. The solenoid is above and to the left of the yellow plug, white connector on the bottom of it.http://old.gmina-klucze.pl/obrazki/ewv401b-manual.xml But it runs awsome under load. So I'm a bit stumped by it. Under a load, the fuel draw may be enough to overcome a sticking plunger. Either way with your issue (same symptoms as mine) doesn't cost anything to try. Please advise Thank you Please advise Thank youI used the same wrench I had out to replace the fuel filter. Thanks for the info Until then it ran smooth. I've noticed the gas is very yellow looking. It came from texas, I was thinking it was an ethanol colored gas. Would an 09 Onan show codes as described with the off switch. That way if no codes are shown, I'll remove the fuel and replace the filter and see if it helps. It's hard to run it under a good load now, winters here, the ac units are covered in snow. One other thing, my fuel gauge has never worked, always on empty. Anyone else had this problem? Start with a fresh tank, add SeaFoam treatment and perhaps ValvTec's ethanol fuel treatment. Get the genny running, then put it under a load, use electric heaters, at least one on each leg. Run for about an hour. When time is up, turn off all loads and let genny run on a cool down mode for 5 minutes. I may have a spare in the trailer, I'll check tomorrow for the part number. I'm going to stop by Camping World this weekend, if they don't have it I'll just order it. I did do an oil change on it already, which I think it was the first time, and used a Baldwin filter and synthetic 5w 40 oil.Waiting for the UPS truck to show up now. And almost got all the old gas out.I checked for codes, and it brought up the 3-6 code. Which could be fuel filter issue. I think I may have a copy of the codes from the dealer. I'll check later today. If it drops below 1000 rpms for a second, it triggers a code. Of course it doesn't tell you how to fix it The fuel always has Valvtect ethanol and stabilizer treatment added. After the first 6-8 hours the genny stopped with it's snarkey running and did well for the next 4 days running everything in the rig. It did require two applications of an appropriately placed rap on the solenoid before it smoothened out. I went to start it and it started ran for a second and shut down, tried cranking it again and fuel started dripping out of the air filter cover.I did remove the air filter, and once again crank it over to see plenty of fuel pumping, to much I believe its flooding out. I have a onan 5500 mounted in my 2010 fusion, have been running very strong, until a couple days ago. I went to start it and it started ran for a second and shut down, tried cranking it again and fuel started dripping out of the air filter cover.I did remove the air filter, and once again crank it over to see plenty of fuel pumping, to much I believe its flooding out.I think we have a few Heartland owners here who have solved problems on their generators, although I don't recall any specific discussion about fault code 36. Maybe someone will chime in. I did find the following suggestions from Onan. By continuing to use this site, you are consenting to our use of cookies. If it faltered running on the aux tank we would use the primer bulb. If it ran ok then there would be something wrong in the fuel delivery system. Most of the time it was a crack in the fuel line.I know I had a similar situation on a previous Marquise 5500.Initially, when it is cold, it will stat and run without a heavy load (only the charger, i suspect), then will die - not always suddenly; sometimes it lugs down, picks up, and eventually lugs down to stop. Buying an RV - Best Practices How to Get an RV Loan How to Do a Used RV Inspection Why RVers Love RVing The only thing I am using is 1 interior light at the time. When the generator acts up like that, the lights blink as well. ANSWER: Hi Perry there are two possible problems that could be causing this revving up and down of your RV's generator. The first is a fuel problem or possibly a problem with the governor on the generator. I am inclined to believe your problem is in all likelihood a fuel problem. Good Sam Extended Service Plan is mechanical breakdown insurance for your RV, 5th Wheel, Trailer, and Tow Vehicle. FREE Quote Since you don't tell me, I am going to have to assume that your generator is a gasoline generator. There are two important facts that you need to know about your generator. 1. Generators need to run at least once a month for a couple of hours with a load on them. Based on your description, this is what I think is causing your generator to surge up and down. Save 50 off of Campsites With Passport America Fixing It Since I do not know how mechanically inclined you are or what make or model your generator is; I can only give you some general guidance here. If all the fuel lines seem good, the next step I would take is to change the fuel filter leading to the generator. Once you check the fuel lines and change the fuel filter try running the generator and if the problem disappears consider yourself very lucky. If the fuel filter does not correct the problem, then you are going to have gain access to the generator's carburetor, remove it from the generator and soak it in some Carburetor Cleaner to try to get it cleaned out. If that works then you should still consider yourself lucky. If that doesn't work then depending on the make and model of your generator you will have to either rebuild the carburetor or If everything I described above is something you are not comfortable doing yourself then you need to take your RV in and have a Qualified RV Technician diagnose and repair the generator. Preventing The Problem From Happening Again The easiest way of preventing this gummy fuel problem is to run (exercise) your generator for at least 2 to 3 hours once a month. When I say 2 to 3 hours, I don't mean 1 hour one day and 1 hour the next day. I mean 2 to 3 hours straight. When you exercise your generator it needs to have an electrical load on it. For example if you are exercising your generator in the summer, you should run at least one of your RV's roof air conditioners. If you are exercising your RV's generator during the winter you should plug in at least one or two 120 volt space heaters inside the RV. Running a TV set or a coffee pot is not going to provide enough electrical load to properly exercise your generator. Over 1,500,000 successful roadside rescues—Good Sam RV Emergency Road Service What if your RV is in storage for more than a month and you are unable to exercise the generator on a monthly basis. The least you can do is get some Sta-Bil Fuel Stabilizer and add the proper amount for your RV's fuel system. Once you have added the fuel stabilizer to the RV's fuel system you should run your generator for about 10 minutes to make sure that stabilizer makes it to the generators carburetor. You should always use a fuel stabilizer in your RV if it is going to sit for a month or longer. Just a reminder! Using a fuel stabilizer does not take the place of exercising your generator, but it does help if it is impossible for you to exercise your generator. As I said earlier problems with the generator's governor could also cause surging problems. The bottom line is the only way you will know for sure is by taking your RV in and having it looked at. Do you have any suggestions or comments on this topic. Happy RVing RVing Al And what’s is next to it. I ask because I try to fix things myself. I have a 1991 FORD E-350 Econoline 27’ motorhome. There are absolutely no service ir parts manuals available for it. Nothing on it is located where it shoujd be. Wiring is a rainbow of colors and go everywhere. Generator is gas, Onan 4000 Emerald Plus Genset. Lots of work done on it. A mechanic used it while he was working on replacing a sidewalk. It was running great until he brought it back. Next day generator cranks but won’t run. Mechanic in the wind. Fully paid several thousand dollars. I AM a 75 yoa female with severe arthritic hands. Now I am being told I overfilled my gas tank and gas went into feeder tube. Tube leaked but not now. NO START. You all say check breaker on gen. WHERE is it? Where is the fuse? Too much oil in it? I siphoned some off. I don’t know where carb is. I put Sea Foam in gas. No gen run. Cranks great but no run. Checked everything i know to check but have limited knowledge. Everything including converter very hard to get to without taking half the motorhome apart. Anyone have a stick of dynamite. Can someone tell me where the breaker and fuse on gen is located. Does anyone have a service or fix it book. Sure do need help. I live alone and no family. Cannot afford a newer model. Mechanics took all my money. Shame!!!! Thank u for reading this. If anyone cares to TELL me stuff please call me and ask for Bonnie. 404-493-9145.. I read the carb is varnish, the fuel filter is clogged, and the fuel pump is not working right. Well I did all the repairs and found that my idle screw had backed off and the throttle was closing all the way causing the surging. This was not mentioned once in my search and would have saved me alot of time. So if you experience a surging generator at idle check the idle screw first. Hope this helps. Sea-foam and carborator choke cleaner did the job. Oh it's a 5500 Onan. She's running but the idle keeps jumping for about 12-tto 15 jumps then she runs quietly and steady. Could it be the carborator still has lacquer in it?? Propane fuel never goes bad, never clogs up fuel lines or carburetors, etc., and is cheaper than gasoline or diesel. If using a 5th wheel or travel trailer of sorts, most already have propane fuel tanks on board. I took the carb out but was unable to dissasemble it fully, I could only get the bowl off. I took that off, cleaned it out and sprayed nearly a full can of carb cleaner. I was finally able to start it but it would die and or surge. The problem with a surging generator is the surging causes the sine-wave to get all wonky. On mine I put some seafoam in the tank, some more in the bowl and I let the generator run with that for about an hour, when it smoothed out I started turning things on, at first a few lights. About 10 minutes later I turned off everything and turned on one AC. About 20 minutes later it stabilized, I slowly started adding more and more until I turned all but the first AC off and then turned the second AC on. Again 20-30 minutes later it stabilized, I then turned everything else on, and left everything on for about an hour to an hour and a half. Best of luck with your generator, Tom Inspect all your fuel lines, carburetor gaskets, etc.One trick that I've found useful in locating hard to find leaks is to take a small canister of pressurized gas (propane, butane, etc.) and use it to find any air or vacuum leaks. You simply open up the valve on the can, but do NOT ignite the gas. Start by directing the gas around the carb and fuel lines. If the engine straightens out, you've located the area of the leak. I found out that it was a cracked fuel line (hose) located on top of the fuel tank. It was cracked right where it made a bend so it was easy to spot. I replaced the entire line (about 7 feet) and now she purrs like a kitten!!! It's easy to do. How? Simply click here to return to Ask An RV Question. Laguna F Videla S Jimenez-Mejias ME. Amphotericin B lipid complex versus meglumine antimoniate in the treatment of visceral leishmaniasis in patients infected with HIV: a randomized pilot study. The guidelines are intended for internists, pediatricians, family practitioners, and dermatologists, as well as infectious disease specialists, practicing in the United States and Canada (for simplicity, referred to here as North America). Less common or rare syndromes that may require specialized expertise are beyond the scope of these guidelines. Whenever possible, our recommendations are based on randomized clinical trials. Although there may be disagreement with some of our recommendations and suggestions, the approaches we describe have been both useful and feasible in North America. Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is the most common leishmanial syndrome worldwide and the one most likely to be encountered in patients in North America. The skin lesions of CL are usually painless and chronic, often occurring at sites of infected sand fly bites. Slow spontaneous healing as cell-mediated immunity develops is the usual natural history, accelerated by antileishmanial therapy. No universally applicable treatment has been identified for CL; the choice of agent, dose, and duration of therapy should be individualized. Parasite and host factors must be considered, as well as clinical characteristics ( Table 1 ). Table 1: Clinical Characteristics of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (CL) that may Modify Management in North America Visceral leishmaniasis (VL), which reflects dissemination of Leishmania parasites throughout the reticuloendothelial system, is potentially life threatening without treatment. The only Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved medications for the treatment of leishmaniasis are intravenous liposomal amphotericin B (L-AmB) for VL and oral miltefosine for CL, ML, and VL caused by particular species. For prevention of leishmaniasis in travelers, no vaccines or chemoprophylaxis currently are available; personal protective measures to minimize exposure to sand fly bites are recommended. Our recommendations for the diagnosis and clinical management of leishmaniasis are listed below. Background information about leishmaniasis, a description of our methods, and the evidence summaries that support our recommendations can be found online in the full text, tables, figures, and appendix of the guidelines. Recommendations Recommendations Recommendations Recommendations Recommendations. We recommend that clinicians contact their leishmaniasis reference laboratory before collecting specimens ( Table 2 ).In a person with leishmaniasis, why could it be helpful to identify the infecting Leishmania species.
