The Yamaha 115 horsepower digital manual covers every aspect of maintenance, overhaul and repair. One of the most important tools you can have for any kind of repair or regular maintenance is by using a Yamaha 115hp repair manual. Provided to you when you buy the outboard motor, it goes over the different parts of your engine. This information can include how to perform regular maintenance or when your boat engine should be looked at by a trained mechanic, the location of the controls and what they do as well as the type and amount of fuel and oil the outboard uses and can contain a diagram of circuits in case they need to be replaced. Sometimes referred to as a shop manual, these manuals are authored by licensed mechanics in order to provide a do-it-yourself mechanic a step by step guide to repairing an issue with their outboard motor without having access to some of the professional tools that mechanics use. The benefit of this type of manual is that they provide you with photos and illustrations of the Yamaha motor stripped down so you can see how the engine goes back together. These were originally only available to repair shop mechanics that had been approved as well as dealership mechanics because it was felt that only these types of repairmen were the ones who were best suited to fix the issues and the products for the particular manufacturer of your outboard. These types of repair manuals cover topics such as service specifications, the engine, the electrical and ignition systems, the fuel system, the lower unit as well as the powerhead, mid-unit, and much more. It is created to be an encyclopedia for your Yamaha outboard. These are typically described as an after-market manual and can be more specific with the information in the manual than a Factory Service Manual. Repair manuals tend to provide information about the wiring system with colored diagrams, specifications on upgrading your engine, the break down and reassembly of your engine as well as an expanded troubleshooting guide. Your outboard has a lot of parts to it and without a repair manual, if you or a service technician don’t know what you’re doing, a simple issue can become a bigger issue pretty quickly. Between scheduled and routine maintenance, a repair manual helps keep the fun going as both you and a repair mechanic can have the information to keep your Yamaha 115hp moving forward, and not parked at the dock. The information in the handbook consists of product specifications pertaining to the outboard motor. It also contains maintenance schedules, troubleshooting guides, step-by-step repair procedures, wiring diagrams and more. It’s possible to download a Yamaha outboard repair manual straight to your computer in seconds. For example, there is a repair manual, factory service manual or OEM manual and a workshop manual. This article will discuss the difference between them. And links are provided so that you can download a Yamaha outboard repair manual straight to your computer in seconds. The strength of the factory manual is that it is produced by the same people who built your Yamaha outboard boat motor, and presumably know it best. However, the factory manuals assume a degree of mechanical aptitude. Some procedures which the average shade-tree mechanic might find challenging may not be covered in the same linear, detailed fashion as a repair manual or workshop manual. If you’re not confident in your mechanical ability, a repair manual or workshop manual is a better choice. Like the repair manual or workshop books, a factory manual covers complete teardown and re-assembly procedures. If an aftermarket book is not available a factory book may be your only option. You’ll need it to properly service your outboard and to help you enjoy the experience of owning a boat. Another positive feature of the factory service manual is they can be downloaded instantly and are dirt cheap. A Yamaha service manual covers every aspect of repair. These types of manuals are usually not downloadable and must be special ordered online, taking up to a week or more to receive in the mail box. These paperback manuals are also very expensive. Every manual includes information: Their thoroughness shows in the sheer size of the manuals, some of which exceed 700 pages. For reference, a factory service manual contains the same information, it’s just explained in less detail (in some instances). While they don’t cover as many models repair manuals, these types of books offer several benefits over the competition. While workshop manuals aren’t as big as repair manuals, they make up for it with a combination of excellent photography and an easy to follow manner. In addition, workshop manuals also produces a short write-up of each engine in the opening pages of the book which provides an entertaining education for owners. Finally, workshop manuals have a useful troubleshooting section that helps even a novice diagnose mechanical woes. It can be downloaded to your computer in seconds. You don’t need to wait a week or more to receive it in the mail—you get it instantly. You can use it to fix, maintain or completely overhaul the entire motor. It’s the same handbook dealership technicians use to fix your engine. You can download it to a smartphone, tablet or computer and print out pages you need or the entire book. It contains all the pictures, illustrations, diagrams you need to complete the repair job successfully. The manual covers 2-stroke, 4-stroke V4 and V6 (1, 2, 3, 4 cylinder) outboard motors manufactured between 1984 thru 1996. Here is a list of models covered: V6 (3130cc) 2-Stroke 1987-1996 225 HP 90 deg.I’m in New Zealand Serial Number 115AETO6E5L353312 Don’t know what year it was manufactured. Users have access to complete engine maintenance and repair information along with quick access buttons to Maintenance Schedules, Wiring Diagrams, Parts, Specification Charts, and a hyper-linked index. If you prefer traditional service manuals Seloc also offers a full line of printed engine repair and maintenence guides. Performing the scheduled maintenance is very important. It compensates for the initial wear that occurs during the life of the outboard motor. Most all service manual chapters start with an assembly or system illustration, diagrams, exploded parts view, quality pictures, service information and troubleshooting for the section. The subsequent pages give detailed procedures. If you don’t know the source of the trouble, go to the troubleshooting page for a list of causes and effects to determine the problem at the end of the manual. This is what the owners manual says; Section 4 page 4-10. The Yamaha owners manual says every 100 hours after that. I changed the oil and filter after the 10 hour break in period. Before I launch the boat I check the oil. At 15 hours the oil is starting to get very dark looking, so I will prabably change every 50 hours. One more thing, does anyone own a 115 4str made by Suzuki or Honda, do you have to remove the cowling to check the oil. On my 115 Yamaha you have to remove the cowling to access the dipstick, sure would be easier to check the oil if you didn't.Yamaha 4str oil sold in litres. If the oil is starting to look dark at 15 hours, why not change the oil and filter every 25 hours. This will keep everything clean inside the engine, and you will have clean oil circulating throughout the engine. -----Just my opinion. --GregIf the oil is starting to look dark at 15 hours, why not change the oil and filter every 25 hours. I don't agree. Way too much motor oil is going down the drain (hopefully, being recycled) because the big oil companies have convinced folks to change their oil every 3000 instead of every 5000. The car companies (and 4 stroke outboard manufacturer) have done lots of testing, and I say go with their recommendation. Several years back Ford had a 7500 mile oil change interval. According to engineering, the dealers forced them back to 5000 beacuse it was hurting their back room business. Change when the light comes on.
