This version of the adventure fantasy game was the fifth major release of rules; previous sets of rules had been released in 1974, 1977, 1989, and 2000. You can obtain the core rule books as well as the multiple game supplements released during version 3.5's run. What are the core Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 game books? In 2003, Wizards of the Coast released three books that added to or adjusted their then-current third edition rules set. The company, which had obtained the fantasy game of dungeon crawlers and monster encounters from the original publisher, Tactical Studies Rules (TSR), had released a new version of the game based on the d20 System only three years previously. In-house gameplay, as well as player feedback, indicated the need for multiple rule changes. More rules were added at this time, too. The three core books released in 2003 were the following: 17524 Player's Handbook (v. 3.5). 17752 Dungeon Master's Guide (v. 3.5). 17755 Monster Manual (v. 3.5). What are some of the corrections added to version 3.5? After the core book releases, multiple corrections were made by WotC in officially released errata. For example, the druid's animal companion was renamed Wild Shape and gained the ability to use the druid's equipment to meld into its new form. The spell level for a paladin's special mount was defined as one-third of the character's class level. General rules for attacking during a charge and running were corrected. Multiple issues with spells were also addressed. In 2003, the Complete Warrior was published. The following year produced the Complete Divine as well as the Complete Arcane. The only release in 2005 was the Complete Adventurer. In 2006, the Complete Psionic was followed by the Complete Mage. Finally, in 2007, the Complete Scoundrel and the Complete Champion appeared. Were many modules released for Dungeons and Dragons 3.5? At least 30 game adventures were released for version 3.5 play. The total number varies based on a collector's view of what are considered official d20 System releases. Characters could fight through single titles like Deep Horizon. This is a good book for players that are going to play a cross-dimensional campaign or whatsoever. It contains the basic races from the different planes and the acccording prestige classes. Everything is there, presented in a logical order - but still: I do not get any atmosphere or feeling for how-it-is-meant-to-be from the book. So if you have already a story in mind and just need the proper tool - this may be the right book for you. It was designed as an accessory for the Manual of the Planes book more than anything, cause you really need the Manual first to adventure in the planes and really use this book to it's fullest potential. Included are races, class modifications, spells, and more. Verisign. In the earlier editions most characters had a small chance to receive psionic powers as an extra set of abilities; a lucky character could receive powers that were equivalents of magical spells that were not available until mid-to-high levels. In 3.0 characters must take psionic classes or feats to access the abilities forcing a player to forgo other abilities in exchange for psionic powers. The book was designed by Bruce R. Cordell. Cover art is by Arnie Swekel, with interior illustrations by Lars Grant-West, Heather Hudson, David Martin, Wayne Reynolds, Arniel Swekel, and Sam Wood. You can help by adding to it. I am looking for books, PDFs, websites, podcasts; anything really that well help make my game better. I find that the WoTC stuff alone is overkill and I run with just a subset of that. Are you creating your own campaign or running a published one. If you want a published one, you have a lot of good choices; I'd read reviews of 1) Ptolus 2) Wilderlands of High Fantasy 3) all of the Paizo adventure paths 4) Rappan Athuk Reloaded 5) Castle Whiterock And pick whichever one seems to fit your group's style best. It would also help to know where you stand on WotC supplements (any or all), third party books and PDFs, your own probable house rules, and those of others (of which there are many, many examples online, some of them great). Mixture of roleplaying and dungeon crawling. My own 'world', but I do sometimes adapt adventures. Price is not a HUGE factor. I picked up the PDF of Castle Whiterock and I plan to probably use pieces of it for sure. I have the Hypertext SRD website backed up to CD. I actually got it before they took down all the images. I am mainly looking for resources that people consider outstanding or almost indispensable. I will definitely check out the links that Aus Snow provided. Ptolus would be my first instinct based on what you said. It has both city and dungeon crawl, tons of material, and is likely the best done 3rd edition product in existence. Open gaming project has Halls of the Mountain King right now, and if you join up, you can also get Tales of Zobek. Combine those two and you've got both city and a more dungeon crawlish adventure (though halls has waaay too much plot to be considered a pure dungeon crawl). Other adventures: Just about anything by Necromancer Games. There were a bunch of great materials there. The old dungeon and dragon magazines, especially the adventure paths. Monsters: Monsternomicon I and II are stellar (even outside of steampunk, though a few monsters would not be usable without a retrofit, they're the best general monster books I own). So are Tome of Horrors 1-III. Book of fiends by green ronin is great for your lower planar denizens. Settings: Arcanis is a setting worth checking out, and has a TON of adventures on their living arcanis page.Pretty informative if you don't know much about horses. You can find more via the Wayback Machine if you do silvenpublishing.com, but only half are still available. New Vestiges and Shadowcaster material I think this was reprinted in Book of Templates, Deluxe without the rules for staking. If you look through the campaign material, you'll find one of his solutions for running a low magic game. The solution was interesting, but I thought it would have been better to alter the caster spell acquisition and throw in some other goodies. They are definitely worth checking out to get familiar with their products. I like a lot of variants from Unearthed Arcana (found free under variant rules at The Hypertext d20 SRD (v3.5 d20 System Reference Document):: d20srd.org ) particularly spontaneous divine casters and a modified version of recharge magic. I like a lot of the options from the Trailblazer preview by Bad Axe Games. Tons of other great monster books to choose from. Spell Compendium is a great spell resource, though you have to watch out for individual spells carefully. Magic Items: I hear good things about the magic item compendium. I also like Arms and Armor 3.5 and From Stone to Steel, for weapons and armor stuff (both magical and normal). Campaign Settings: a ton of great options. Modules: a ton of great options. Counters: a ton of great options. Maps: a ton of great options.I'll go correct that now. I'm very interested in this also (the preview stuff looked good but I really want to see their take on combat mechanics). After that all I would buy is modules. There are several city books I really like, such as CSIO, LCoB, Bard's Gate, City of Mithril, and Streets of Silver. So I would probably rebuy those too. Fortunately I have kept everything. So for me it would be a matter of packing everything up that I don't really need and storing it at the top back end of my garage so I'm far less likely to pull it out and try to use it. The moral for me: never throw out or sell your old gaming books. I still occasionally reference my 1e and 2e books, and there are lots of game systems (Paranoia, Call of Cthulhu) where I'd rather play the older editions. I've covered a lot of combat stuff here at EnWorld and if I can't point you to it, I should be able to answer anyway. I much prefer the latter's interface and it also has a nice spell and power search feature. I much prefer the latter's interface and it also has a nice spell and power search feature.Me personally? To use this supplement, a Dungeon Master also needs the Player's Handbook, the Dungeon Master's Guide, and the Monster Manual. A player needs only the Player's Handbook. To see what your friends thought of this book,This book is not yet featured on Listopia.Psions are back! Psions are back! In a world of magic, I just see psionics as unnecessarily more of the same. This sourcebook starts off by explaining psionics and the new core classes. It moves on to feats, skills, and a few prestige classes (just a few unfortunately, so not a whole lot of options). Then follows a long list of powers, a lot of which are basically just psionic versions of common. I've never really liked psionics, and this sourcebook didn't change opinion. In a world of magic, I just see psionics as unnecessarily more of the same. This sourcebook starts off by explaining psionics and the new core classes. It moves on to feats, skills, and a few prestige classes (just a few unfortunately, so not a whole lot of options). Then follows a long list of powers, a lot of which are basically just psionic versions of common spells. There are a couple of interesting powers that are uniquely psionic in nature, but those are few. The sourcebook ends with a few monster entries with a psionics theme, none of which I found to be particularly inspired. Basically, just feels like a typical sourcebook to me, like adding psionics as a variant spellcasting system. Nothing more than that. There are no discussion topics on this book yet. Also a novel author, his credits include several titles set in the Forgotten Realms. All are possible!Your Mage Hand can be made invisible, rifle through people’s pockets and pick locks at range, and at higher levels can be used to distract opponents mid-combat. You also pick up three first-level wizard spells - so long as they are in the enchantment or illusion schools - and more as your progress. The Path of the Totem Warrior sees them accepting a spirit animal as a guide, taking their strength to magically power their rages through a physical totem object that incorporates the fur, teeth or bones of the chosen animal. For example, tiger totems can jump higher and further while raging. You can pick further benefits at sixth and 14th levels. Though it might be tempting to ask your spiritual bear-parent for the best spot to pick a prickly pear, it can be used to determine the location of monsters, nearby towns or even the influence of other planes of existence. These include powerful class-restricted options like Fireball, Tenser’s Floating Disk, Teleport or - from 18th level - Wish. You also get the usual benefits to your divination spells, such as quicker spellbook copying times and regaining lower-level spell slots after casting from sixth level. You can later use these rolls to replace any attack roll, saving throw or ability check made by you or a creature you can see once, until you take another long rest.Starting at third level, they gain two cantrips and two first-level spell slots, plus a choice of many nasty surprises from the wizard spell list. Thor, eat your heart out. This ability gets exponentially better starting from sixth level - by eighth you’ll be able to animorph into flying dinosaurs or giant snakes. You can also sap temporary hit points from hostile creatures you bring down equal to your charisma modifier plus your warlock level, and from 10th level gain resistance to a chosen damage type, changeable once you rest. At 14th, however, you get your most fiendish ability: once per long rest, you can instantly transport a creature you hit with an attack into the lower reaches of Hell for a turn, taking 10d10 psychic damage on their return. Favoured by the Gods allows you to add 2d4 to a failed saving throw or attack roll, Empowered Healing at sixth level lets you use your sorcery points to reroll low dice rolls when restoring bonuses, and Unearthly Recovery means you can instantly heal half your HP from 18th level. Among the most coveted is Angelic Form: starting at 14th, your sorcerer can summon spectral (but functional) wings as a bonus action. Edgy, sure, but it also allows you to play a broken, world-weary holy warrior rather than a goody-two-shoes. Starting at third level, Oathbreakers gain access to some darker spells - including Inflict Wounds, Animate Dead and Contagion - and can use their Channel Divinity to control undead creatures or frighten nearby creatures. At seventh, they and any fiends or undead nearby can add their Charisma modifier to damage rolls, and at 15th they gain resistance to damage from non-magical weapons.Spooky and effective. Clerics dedicated to the gods of the forge domain favour heavy armour, fancy weapons and potent magic items alongside their divine powers, and have several unique factors that make them a boon to any party of adventurers.
