With Stan Tekiela 's famous field guide, bird identification is simple and informative. There's no need to look through dozens of photos of birds that don't live in these states. Martin 5.0 out of 5 stars Yet, a good size to take to the field. I like it, especially how the birds are catalogued, by color, with a color indexing system on the pages edge (like tabs but without the impediment of a tab). Also, I love the insets of the opposite sex bird with their distinguishing colors. Very happy with my purchase, especially since I caught this on the first try.We had a nest of Cardinals fly off (I love seeing them still as juveniles) and then, after having a dying tree cut down in our yard, we rescued some Robin nestlings. I rehomed their nest and was able to check on them daily until they left the nest. Just today I saw one of the fledglings learning to fly. My interest in birds has been sparked, and I now want to know about them all. Within an hour of opening this book, it helped me spot a Bluebird, a male House Finch, and a male and female House Sparrow. The book let's you search by color, by name, and you can see beautiful photos of both male and female. It tells you what time of the year the birds are in the area, what their nests are like, what they eat, etc. Get this book!!Thick but perfect size to carry around with you. Separated by color with a full page color photo and stat page for each bird. Perfect for beginners like me. I would highly recommend this book.It i now tucked away in the pocket of my camera bag. I highly recommend this to anyone starting out like me and needing to identify the birds I photograph.Just a quick identification based on colors and some basic species information. Great for kids or adults who want to experience birding.Has great pictures and information is easy to read. Nicely done. We had been looking online to find out which birds we were seeing and recording in a book. This is much better. I bought slim sticky notes and we put gas on the pages we identify now, nice coffee table book for guests as well.It gives details about each bird and is super easy to use. I have identified 4 different woodpeckers along with other birds I have seen. Shipping was VERY fast and I am pleased beyond measure with the bookI was confined after surgery and have enjoyed this to identify the birds at me feeder.Page 1 of 1 Start over Page 1 of 1 Previous page Next page.
