SERVICING YOUR OUTBOARD MOTOR Fuel Filter Inspection and Replacement The fuel filter (inside the strainer. FUEL FILTER (inside strainer cup) Looking through the translucent strainer cup, check the fuel filter for water accumulation or sediment. FUEL HOSES SCREW (3) SUSPENSION STRAP Remove the suspension strap from the strainer bracket, then remove the strainer assembly from the strap. Thoroughly clean the strainer cup, and replace with a new fuel filter. Reassemble the strainer body and the cup.Water accumulation in the water separator can cause loss of power or hard starting. Check the water separator periodically. Clean it or consult with an authorized Honda outboard motor dealer for cleaning. Thoroughly clean the water separator cup.
