During operation, temporary changes Flashing can be made to increase or decrease the zone run time, step through the zone sequence and pause or stop watering using the “Watering Control Features”. For example, rain is forecast in your area for the next two days. Instead of turning the timer off (and possibly forgetting to turn it back on), a rain delay of 3 days can be easily entered. Leaving the control dial in the position will prevent all automatic and manual watering operations. The timer will continue to track the current time and day of the week. Only the current time and date information will be lost and will need to be reset if power is disconnected for more than 24 hours. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The only problem is the large case size.takes up a lot of wall space with the provision for additional solonoids (I do not know anyone having more than six watering stations). Also, did I mention that it is ginormous??? I thought it would be bigger and easier to use than our existing 4 zone timer, as in twice as big would have allowed for more ease of access and better controls, easier to read display, etc., but it is 8X bigger and I cannot imagine where I will find room to install it without building a separate building for it. OK, that's a bit of hyperbole, but barely. I also read the blurbs on it in detail, and one critical feature I desired was having a computer interface so that I could monitor and program it from a PC easily and without having to go thru all those silly brain dead program sequences, that I know everyone out there just loathes. Well, guess what?http://dush-kz.ru/uploads/fck/adt-security-manuals.xml It does NOT interconnect or communicate with a computer in any fashion at all. Also, the construction quality is very cheap plastic, does not appear high quality, and really, this was such a bad buying decision on my part that I want to practice fencing without body protection gear. If anyone wants to buy it from me at a great discount, I will sell it to them immediately, new in the box! Please try again later. Robert Kirbo 3.0 out of 5 stars Also, did I mention that it is ginormous??? Dooley 5.0 out of 5 stars Please try again later.I would love to operate two zones at a time but it will not allow it.Please try again later. As it came with a passably weather tight enclosure it was an easy choice. The intended location would be in full sun, so I set it up on the bench to acquaint myself with the programming.I was more interested in getting it installed and operating so I could get paid. It has a flash memory and without battery backup is claimed to save program info indefinitely, and time and day info for 24 hours which made it much more simple to pre-program and install. Installation itself was brainless, once programmed I was fortunate enough that it fit perfectly in the old location so it was a matter of less than an hour to have it up and running. A fairly well touted feature is the expandability to 12 zones. Small plastic snap-in modules with a pair of wire ports can link two zones to the main board, just pick up a coupla more modules and you're off.In fact, the unit comes with a rudimentary program already in memory, so a user could install it and never have to touch a dial. I'd say if you're looking for a decent, non-commercial timer you can find at any Big Box, (or Amazon, of course!) this is a good unit. Please try again later. Todd Pederson 4.0 out of 5 stars I needed a replacement. 6 zones weren't going to cut it. This one is expandable. I must say, I have read many reviews on this product and I am shocked to see how difficult people have made this product out to be. I managed to install the expansion adaptors for more zones. Install a rain sensor (that my old controller didn't have), and use the time pod to update my watering schedule. The biggest hassle was finding a new spot to mount the controller and run a power cord (I just cut the end off an old extension cord and had to fish it through the hole the previous power cord ran through). I like it. It works for me. I can imagine how frustrated people are when they have to program by hand (and memory for that matter). The time pod makes this thing a snap to program. Worth every nickel. I am tired of reading complaints from people who lack the intitiative to work a little bitPlease try again later. JustMyOpinion 1.0 out of 5 stars First of all, an important function didn't work, and the Customer Service folks were not helpful other than sending me the manual and telling me to look it up (which I already had, ThankYouVeryMuch). The problem? It will not accept a 'manual' setting so I am unable to turn on a single zone. Customer Service was clueless. My sprinkler guy played with it until he found the answer.) Second, both the computer program and manual interface are a total nightmare. OnMyGawsh. I can't tell you how long I've spent in frustration. I generally don't have a problem with the switches and dials needed for sprinkler systems, but this one.It makes no sense whatsoever. The software wants to dictate how many minutes each station should be watered. Finding an override, so I could enter the times myself, was very frustrating and time consuming. Documentation was nonexistent. Again, Customer Service was clueless.) I think it's a great idea, but it needs more time in development. The software interface, which was the selling point for me, is a nightmare. You're on your own; Cutomer Service has no idea. Please try again later. anthony 5.0 out of 5 stars While I was at it I wanted Sprinkler Timer that had an option for A rain sensor and also could be programmed by my computer with the Toro Time Pod option (A Special USB stick with a custom connector on one end). As far as I know Only Toro has this computer programming option. Apparently older versions were quite buggy and the units that are on shelves will have ancient versions. I was able to install the software and Program the time pod literally in seconds. The software makes you answer a few questions in case you want it to create an automated program for you based on weather it gets automatically form your, zip code, humidity etc. You have o answer the questions even if your going to create a manual program, silly but not a problem. The Sprinkler timer itself and wireless rain sensor is easy to install. I have no complaints. The instructions for wiring the rain sensor could be clearer about combining the 24 volt leads with the power leads for the rain sensor since there is only one 24 volt feed. Please try again later. Note that zones 3 and 5 water shrubs and flowers and have been excluded from this program. (These zones will be scheduled to operate on a another program.) As sho wn in t he Water ing Prog ram Dia gram, at 4:00 am the ti mer sta rts the program waterin g cycle. Zone 1 sprin- klers run for 10 minutes and shut off. The tim er ski ps z one 3 th en turn s on zon e 4, wh ich runs for 20 min utes and shu ts off. Zon e 5 is s kip ped and the wate rin g cyc le e nds at 4:40 am. As you can see from this example, only one program start time was needed to operate three different zones. Using more than one program for example, would enable lawn zones to be watered every day on program A, shrub zones to run on on Monday, Wednesday and Friday on program B and drip irrigation to soak the flower beds every three days on program C. Although the ECXTRA offers the multiple program fea- ture, you may want to have all zones on one program if it meets your needs. The other programs can remain turned off until you need to use them. 15 3 12 9 6 3 12 9 6 3 12 9 6 Zone 1 Program starts at 4:00 am Program ends at 4:40 am Zone 2 Zone 4 Watering?Program?Diagram This is a seven-day schedule which starts on Sunday and ends on Saturday. Interval Schedule An Interval schedule enables watering days to be select- ed without regard to the actual days of the week. For example, if you want to water every third day, you would select a 3-day Interval. Interval schedules range from 1-day (watering every day) to 7-day (watering every sev- enth day). When an Interval schedule is used, you can cho ose whic h da y o f th e we ek w ill be the firs t da y of th e Int erva l. This illustration shows how an Inter- val schedule would be displayed. In this example, program B has a 3- day Interval schedule which will start on Monday. This illustration shows how an Odd day schedule would be dis- played. In this example, Monday and Fri- day are excluded from program A. Program Off Selecting OFF suspends the operation of the program when it is not needed. Turning the program off does not alter or erase the watering day schedule of the program, it simply places the program on hold until it is needed. This illustration shows how a pro- gram would be displayed if its water- ing day schedule is turned off. In this example, program C is off. It is important to remember that a program only requires one start time to operate automatically. When a program starts, each zone assigned to the program will water in numerical order, one at a time for its set run time. Sometimes it is necessary to run a watering program more than one time per day. For example, when germi- nating a new lawn. The ECXTRA enables each program to have up to four separate start times per day. Program start times are numbered 1 through 4. These numbers are shown at the top left of the display next to the start time symbol when the control dial is in the start time position and indicate how many start times are currently set for the program. This illustration shows how a program start time is dis- played. In this example, program A has one start time (start time number 1) set for 3:00 am. Setting?the?Zone?Run?Time A zone run time is the length of time the zone (controlled by the valve) will water during the program watering cycle. The run time for each zone can be set from Off (no run time) to 4 hours, in one-minute increments. A zone is assigned to a program when it is given a run time. If the run time for a zone is turned Off in a program, it will not operate during the program watering cycle. This is how the ECXTRA enables you to assign zones to different programs. Guidelines for Watering There are several factors to be considered when decid- ing when and how long to water. For example, the soil type (i.e., clay, loam, etc.), the part of the landscape being watered, climate conditions and the type of sprin- klers being used. You will have the best water pressure at this time and the water can soak into the plant root zone while evaporation is minimal. For an Interval schedule circle the desired Interval number. For Odd or Even days, simply mark the appropriate box. Each program can have 1 to 4 start times per watering day. Note: A start time that occurs while a watering cycle is in progress will be delayed until the current watering cycle is finished. Therefore, when using multiple start times within a program or when using multiple programs, schedule the start times to allow each watering cycle to run completely before the next cycle starts. ?
