Josey Jacques Top Contributor: Cooking 5.0 out of 5 stars There are a lot of former vegans out there, for two reasons: they either did not tweak the diet to fit their individual health needs (for example, they were sensitive to grains but kept on forcing down the millet and brown rice), or they became deficient in certain nutrients. Neither of those issues is the diet’s fault. You can banish ignorance out the door by reading this book! (Hey, I'm preaching to myself here, okay?;) ) The author goes through all the macronutrients and micronutrients and shows you how to best get them on a Raw Vegan diet. Need an answer for that annoying question, “How do you get your protein?” A NO-BRAINER! The chapter on protein is a jaw-dropper. The author also provides menu samples for different variations on the diet. I also like how she is not a purist, suggesting the need to supplement with vitamin B12 and perhaps D, and allowing for the steaming of dark, leafy greens as well as the consumption of cooked whole vegan foods such as quinoa and beans. If you want to become a long-term, successful Raw Vegan, I highly recommend you read this book. Read this book and end the Raw Vegan nutrition confusion.Basically those charts show that yeah, if you eat enough plants, you will almost surely get all your amino acids. (Essentially, yes, you will get enough protein. But we knew that, didn't we?) It's not a bad book, just not as dense and compelling as some others. I skimmed it over in a little less than half an hour (I read extremely fast) and just didn't see anything so compelling and new that I needed to keep this book. Returned it for a refund via kindle. This is not the book. It's more about the science of eating raw which was just boring to me. I already know it's good for the liver to have a lot raw meals when possible and I thought this book would give me more recipes but I didn't like them and I hate when I can't find ingredients at my local stores. This book focus on raw carbs, fats, proteins, minerals and vitamins, and much more. My favorite topics were on nutrient analyses of various raw food diets and helpful raw food success strategies. The book provided an extent list of resources and references. I have learned so much.Nice to have so much information in one book. Recommending it to my raw food group.I have been on a regenerative detoxification journey for 71 days now (since October 9th, 2016). This nutrition handbook is fabulous to have on hand to get an idea of the nutrition you are getting from all the wonderful raw fruits and vegetables. Blessings be xLots of data and scientific approach. Not a recipe book. The main questions about eating raw: protein, EFAs, B12 are answered based on the writer's personal and clinical experience. View full-text Article Rationalisation of Therapeutic Diets in the Netherlands: Dietetic Applications and Organizational Ap. The principles of the rationalisation were described in J. Hum. Nutr. 33, 329-334. The basis of the practical applications are reported here. Animal products in the “Standard Tables of Food Composition in Japan, Fifth Revised Edition” were categorized by food group, method of cooking, and other factors. Differences in the rates of component change by cooking were apparent between the food groups and even within the same food group. The evaluated rates of component change by cooking can be used for estimating the amount of nutritional components that remain after cooking. This computation utilizes the nutritional value of the components in uncooked food and the nutritional component value after it has been cooked to obtain the rates of component change by cooking. It is therefore possible to compute the amount of nutritional components for cooked food with no nutritional component value. This improves the accuracy for calculating the nutritional value in nutritional assessment and menu preparation. Includes bibliographical references (leaves 40-42). There is clear evidence that intensive educational and behavioral interventions are effective for teaching and persuadingHowever, no single type of intervention has proven consistentlyRecently published research demonstrates that well-designed and implemented, culturally sensitive multi-component interventionsPolicy interventions and changes in the food and nutrition environment have great potential to enhance the effects of individuallyWe can conclude that the educational methodology that stresses participation and is centered around one person is very effective to teach nutrition in the school of Dentistry. Read more Chapter Vitamin E January 1975 John Marks The effect of vitamin E deficiency was first noted by Matthill and Conklin in 1920 when they found that there were reproduction abnormalities in rats kept on special milk diets. Evans and Bishop (1922) showed that these abnormalities could be prevented by a factor in lettuce and wheat germ oil. Two thirds were conducting detection of malnutrition at admission and during follow-up. There was enough time for meals in 60 cases, and 48 had all their residents who underwent a long overnight fast. Among beneficial environmental factors identified, the nutritional axis in the care project seemed to be a major determinant of food-nutrition practices. In conclusion, these results show the real structures involvement in this field in the region, but some practices must be further improved. Nutritional policies seem to be a major way to achieve. She reviews the nutrients that are important in any diet and discusses their roles and how to obtain them entirely from raw foods. Rick provides groundbreaking information on the adequacy of plant-based protein in a raw diet and how it compares favorably to high-protein animal foods. Other topics include food combining, the effect of heat on nutrients, understanding nutrient and calorie density to determine which foods are the most nutritious, and why whole plant foods are important for health and satiety. On a practical level, Karin analyzes various types of raw food diets and their nutritional adequacies and compares them nutritionally against a typical meat-based diet. She then offers strategies to ensure success in following a raw diet over the long term.
