T o change the language or add languages f or the voice recog nition, tap the cur rent language. C opying and pasting T ap and hold ov er text, drag or to select more or less text, and then tap to c opy or to cut. The selected text is copied to the clipboard. T o paste it in to a text entr y field, tap and hold a t the point where it should be inserted, and then tap P aste. C onnec ting to a Wi - Fi network Connect the device to a Wi-F i net work to use the Internet or shar e media files with other devices. ( p. 82 ) T urning Wi - Fi on and off Open the notifications panel, and then tap Wi - Fi to turn it on or off. T ur n off Wi-F i to sa ve the battery when not in use. Selec t a network from the list of det ected Wi-F i net works, enter a password if nec essar y, and then tap Connect. Networks that requir e a passwor d appear with a lock icon. After the device connects to a Wi-F i network, the device will aut omatically connect to it any time it is a vailable. Select the net work in the networks list, and then tap F orget. Setting up acc ounts Google applications, such as Play St ore, requir e a Google account, and Samsung Apps requir es a Samsung account. C reate Google and Samsung acc ounts to ha ve the best experience with the device. A dding acc ounts F ollow the instructions that appear when opening a Google application without signing in to set up a Google account. After that, tap New to sign up, or tap Existing, and then follo w on- screen instructions to complete the ac count setup. More than one Google account can be used on the device. Set up a Samsung account as well. Removing ac coun ts On the Applications screen, tap Settings, select an account name under Ac counts, select the account t o remove, and then tap Remov e accoun t. I f Samsung Kies does not launch, double - click the Samsung Kies icon on the computer. 2 T ransfer files between your devic e and the computer. Refer to the Samsung Kies help for mor e information. C onnec ting with W indow s Media Play er Ensure that Window s Media Player is installed on the c omputer. 1 Connect the device to the comput er using the USB cable. 2 Open Windo ws Media Play er and sync music files. Securing the device Pr event others from using or acc essing personal data and information stored in the devic e by using the security features. The device requir es an unlock code whenever unlocking it. Draw a patt er n by connecting four dots or mor e, and then draw the patt er n again to v erify it. Set a backup unlock PIN to unlock the screen when you f orget the pattern. Enter at least f our charac ters including numbers and symbols, and then enter the passw ord again to verify it. Unlock ing the devic e T ur n on the screen b y pressing the P ower butt on or the Home button, and enter the unlock code. If the unlock code is forgott en, take the device to a Samsung Ser vice Centre t o reset it. Upgr ading the device The device can be upg raded to the lat est soft ware. Click the Update button in the dialogue bo x to star t upgrading. Doing so may interfere with the update pr ocess. Upgr ading ov er the air The device can be dir ec tly upgraded to the lat est sof tware by the firmw are ov er-the -air (FO T A) service.T ap Phone on the Applications screen. Speed dial numbers F or speed dial numbers, tap and hold the corresponding dig it. Number prediction When entering numbers on the keypad, automatic pr edictions appear. Selec t one of these to make a call. As characters are ent ered, pr edic ted contacts appear. Selec t one to place a call to it. Enter the country code, ar ea code, and phone number, and then tap. Repeat this to add more par ties.V iewing call logs T ap Logs to view the history of incoming and outgoing calls. S elect an image to view it in full screen. Scroll left or right to view the next or previous image. Pinch t o zoom out, or double -tap to return. Sharing videos Selec t the video to view, tap, and then selec t a sharing method. Uploading videos Selec t your ac count, tap, select a video, en ter information for the video, and then tap. T o listen to the F M radio, y ou must connec t a headset, which ser ves as the radio an tenna. T ap FM Radio on the Applications screen. Listening to the F M radio Plug a headset into the devic e befor e launching the FM radio. The F M radio scans and saves av ailable stations automatically when running f or the first time.
