The device ships with a simple quick-start guide, but the full manual is available for download from 3M; having the manual is a comfort but it is really unnecessary unless there is a malfunction with the device. The workaround is simple, just run the image through any photoshop-like application to reformat it and it works fine but it is puzzling that the problem exists at all. As stated in other reviews, this device is not really suitable for projecting presentations for groups, but I would highly recommend it for any more intimate setting such as display of photographs to a friend (setting it on a table and projecting onto a sheet of white cardboard works fine) and it is absolutely perfect for my wife's art application.I will update when I have her thoughts. I used the projector at night and thought the brightness was good if you are not trying to project in a huge room (which is the purpose this device was made for). I will comment about a few aspects: 1) Image: It is very clear and defined when projecting from the SD card, with nice bright colors. However, a big dissapointment was that when connected to a laptop the projector is not compatible with resolutions above 1024x768 (although the documentation says differently). The image would display but it had multiple horizontal dark lines which made it unreadable. 2) File compatibility: When projecting from a laptop and using powerpoint (at the right resolution) the slideshows look the way they are supposed to. But if you move your presentation to the SD card, the projector uses an application to convert it to a format it can project and in the process formatting is altered (not only fonts, but also spacing, pictures, and colors) This detracts from the portability advertised as one of the strongest points of the device. I tried with old and new (Office 2007) PPT files (same thing happened). PDFs display well. Did not try pictures or spreadsheets. Projecting YouTube videos when connected to a laptop works well. If it had problems with a laptop, I am assuming it won't project from Bluray players or HDTVs with out ports. 3) Connectivity: Has a USB port to transfer files (expected), an audio port (I don't see the point of connecting your laptop (with better sound) to use the projector's tiny speakers. The only video port is a VGA port, which is the likely culprit for the lower resolution image. You would expect that in a time when most new laptops are built with HDMI out ports you would have that or at least a Super Video port. But maybe there are limitations stemming from the size of the device. I don't have a comment on battery duration yet, but I noticed the projector got warm after a short period of operation. I would like to know if there is a way of changing the lamp when it dies.but I am guessing there is not. Pluses, are that it comes with a tripod and a little bag to carry. Even with these flaws I think it manages to be an acceptable projector that does the job and is portable at the same time. And that joke of a browser they have even in firmware 4.0 wasn't even worth the firmware space, it reminds me of the old Netscape project with an ancient windows ie feel.I'm not sure what the designers where thinking when they made this but they added lots of stuff (and charged for it), but at the end of the day, all the extras they added they only HALF added so its basically back to being nothing but a video slave (that only supports vga or standard video out, no HDMI).The picture is clear, the battery life is as promised and does not overheat quickly. However, as others noted the focussing control needs improvement.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again I knew it would not fill a bright room but in a dimmed room it is great. I tend to open it like a hard drive on my computer and drag and drop my created video files onto it, it has a 2GB microSD card slot. I create video slide shows with music using a nifty program called DVD PixPlay, (well worth purchasing) and convert these files to.avi files. To me that is the best feature; you can play these videos without having to connect it to a computer or power supply at your venue. You need to think of it as a WOW!! unit rather than a presentation workhorse, it's fun and personal. Really is pocket sized too and includes sound and around 2 hours of battery life. It has tiny built in speaker but not meaty enough to share with a group but simple cheap plug in battery MP3 speakers fix that. It is crazy that it comes with a quick set up guide but no operating instructions. I found the PDF manual on the 3M Website and downloaded it. Sorry, we failed to record your vote. There are four outlet adapters to give you the flexibility to power the 3M MPro150 in most countries. Turn the outlet adapter in the direction of the “LOCK” arrow to lock it in place. Fairly typical light output for a Pico projector. By no means is the MPro150 the only projector that has this capability, but it is not common amongst all. It however has some drawbacks when it comes to displaying these file formats. Will provide more detail about that in the Performance section. It’s physical design in my opinion is one of the best I have seen. The touch menu on the top of the projector is well laid out and all the inputs are in very logical places. It’s ability to project multiple HD sources also makes this a real contender against other Pico projectors. In the performance section I will discuss the resolution issues and provide some helpful information so you can decide if MPro150 is a good fit for you. Below are some highlights, specs and special features. After that we will dive a little deeper into the MPro150 Pico. As well as MP3, WAV and AAC files. Also you can connect Microsoft Zune, Sony Playstation Portable and other devices. Display Excel files, PowerPoint files, Adobe Acrobat PDF’s by just uploading the files to the projectors internal memory. The LED light technology used in Pico projectors means you will most likely buy the latest model before the lamp ever fails. Accepts signals from digital cameras, game consoles, and other HD sources via standard size HDMI cable. And See Imagery of Panasonic Projectors Doing Incredible Things This Epson is w The first two series are designed for business and classroom applications These projectors both utilize powe It will be great to see it full of tools and crankin out new projects. Also I love the idea of the new guild format. After all, the home. Like the MPro 120 it's a noticeable improvement over its predecessor, delivering a richer set of features than its predecessor. These include 1GB of internal memory, USB support, a microSD card slot and 15 lumens of brightness. The MPro 150 costs ?349.99 (inc. VAT) from 3M, and slightly less from various online stores. A mini-tripod is supplied, which attaches to the unit's standard threaded tripod mount. The projector has a small built-in flip stand that feels flimsy but is effective enough. USB connectivity and built-in storage (1GB internal plus the supplied 2GB microSD card) allows the MPro 150 to take content on-board and display it free of a PC connection. The device supports Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF files, BMP and JPG images as well as MP3, MP4 and H.264 media files. Familiarising yourself with the projector's various options is a case of either studying the manual or trial-and-error. It's difficult to focus a 50in.The optimal picture size seems to be about 25 inches. At 15 lumens the MPro 150 is slightly brighter than previous models, but it's still not enough of a boost to make much practical difference. The room will need to be dark if you want to see the screen properly, especially with larger screen sizes. The MPro 120's battery life is quoted at 240 minutes in 'normal' (10-lumen) mode and 120 minutes in 'high brightness' (12-lumen) mode. The only figure quoted for the 15-lumen MPro 150 is 120 minutes; in our tests we only managed just over 90 minutes. The projector can also operate and charge when plugged into the supplied AC adapter. You may unsubscribe from these newsletters at any time. You may unsubscribe at any time. It also adds the ability to read files from an internal memory or from a MicroSD card, and it adds an audio output jack for a headset or external powered speakers. The combination makes it one of the most versatile pico projectors yet. It also shares the MPro120's sleek look, with a matte black case with shiny black highlights. Keep in mind too that the whole point of shrinking a projector to pico size is to gain portability. The MPro150's ability to read files from its 1GB memory or a memory card ultimately makes it more portable than some smaller projectors, because you can use it without having to carry another device. SEE ALSO: The Best Portable Projectors for 2020 The back of the projector includes a proprietary connector for both computer and video connections, a miniplug audio output, a power connector, and a mini USB connector so you can connect to a computer both to transfer files and as an alternative to using a power outlet. The lens and the thumbwheel focus control are on the front; the MicroSD card slot is on one side. Each is roughly 3 feet long, which should be enough for most situations. The VGA cable also includes a miniplug stereo audio connector on the PC side so you can send audio to the projector along with the VGA signal. The video cable ends in three male phono plugs (for composite video and stereo audio) and it comes with three gender changers so you can connect to another cable. This can be particularly useful if you have, say, a camera with a proprietary connector and its own cable that ends in male phono plugs. Simply connect to a computer using the USB cable, let your system recognize it as a drive, and copy files to the projector. To use a MicroSD card, you copy the files to a card instead and then plug the card into the projector's card slot. The projector comes with a 2GB MicroSD card, but without an adaptor. The full list of files the projector can read, according to 3M, includes images (BMP and JPG), documents (DOC, PPT, XLS, TXT, and PDF), video (G3PP, G3P2, MP4, AVI, and MOV), and audio (MP3 and WMA). I tested with an assortment of files, using about half of those formats. Turn the battery around in the battery compartment so it's sitting properly, plug in the power cord, and charge the battery for three hours. Then turn on the power, point the projector towards whatever you're using as a screen, and focus using the thumbwheel control. You can also adjust the image size by moving the projector closer to or further from the screen, and adjust image height by opening the built in flip stand or by screwing in the supplied 4-inch tripod to let you point the projector up or down. Among other issues, I saw a halo of light around the image in dark viewing conditions, but it was dim enough to disappear with even the slightest ambient light. More important, the effect is less obvious with the MPro150 than with many projectors. I'm sensitive to it, and didn't see it often enough with either data or video to consider it annoying. The MPro120 was the previous high scorer, with a claimed 12 lumens and a measured 13 lumens. The MPro150, rated at 15 lumens, came in at 14. Keep in mind that perception of brightness is roughly logarithmic, so you need 10 times the brightness in lumens for a projector to seem twice as bright. The jump from 13 to 14 isn't enough to see a difference. The MPro150's specs suggest range of 8 to 50 inches diagonally (a little over 1 meter wide). I'd consider a 50-inch size optimistic for extended sessions—if you want to watch a movie for example—but it's suitable for shorter sessions in a darkened room. Even with ambient light, the image is certainly bright enough to be usable at a large enough size for several people to watch. The MPro150 offers the same 0.5-watt speakers as the MPro120, but 3M says the speaker housing is redesigned to enhance the volume. The difference is nothing short of remarkable. This is the first pico projector I've tested that's loud enough so it won't get drowned out by even low levels of ambient noise. The sound quality is also reasonably good, and the audio output jack lets you plug in a headset or speakers for even better quality and higher volume. When you play audio files by themselves, the LEDs turn off to minimize the drain on the battery.A fully charged battery will last a claimed 2 hours. If the battery dies, you can keep going by plugging in the power cord or connecting to a computer using the USB cable. According to 3M, with the projector turned off, the recharge time is about 3 hours with the charger or 5 to 6 hours over a USB connection The battery can also recharge over the power cord (but not over the USB connection) while the projector's in use, but it will take longer. According to 3M, the supplied plugs will let you use the projector just about anywhere on the planet. Unfortunately, it falls just short because of controls and a menu system that I found much more confusing than they should be. Once you've used the projector for awhile, most of the controls are easy to remember—or at least fumble through. However, the learning curve would be a lot shorter if each one were labeled with both of its functions, like the number keys on a standard keyboard. Even worse, the projector doesn't ship with anything that explains what the icons represent. According to 3M, its testing indicates that most people find the icons self-explanatory. Unfortunately, that doesn't help much if you're not one of those people. A 3M representative said the company will be correcting this oversight in a revised version of the Quick Start guide. Once you get past the learning curve, they work well enough. And although they take some of the shine off the package as a whole, they don't weaken the fundamental strengths that make the MPro150 one of the most capable pico projectors yet available. We are committed to doing everything we can to ship your package as soon as possible. For more information please visit our FAQ page below. COVID FAQs See specs for product details.
