I communicated that I knew this was not the way the machine should sound and requested a properly working replacement -- not a REFUND (I had 5 new filters sitting in my office; I didn't want to change to another type of Office Air Cleaner). Long story short, after another considerable amount of time, I received an email to say that technicians had determined the machine was working properly and my purchase price would be refunded -- less a substantial restocking fee. I'm NOT happy -- I have 5 brand new OAC100 filters and no functioning machine. If this is how an exceptionally well-functioning machine is manufactured today, it's a sad story.
