The trick becomes moot if the tail of the skateboard touches the ground, as the trick itself is one of balance. Unlike the tick-tack, the manual is a technique that can be impressively incorporated into many trick routines, i.e. kickflip-manual-180 out. The combination possibilities are near endless. Further, the manual is a very effective form of training to improve your sense of balance on your skateboard. Here is a guide for how to manual. While it is true that your back foot will be pressing down so as to lift the nose and front wheels off the ground, once that position is achieved it is important to maintain a roughly equal amount of pressure over the front foot so as not to let the tail of the skateboard touch down. Your front foot should be roughly where the front hardwares are, over the trucks. Find where you feel most comfortable. Keep your eyes continuously focused roughly a foot ahead of your position as you learn to perform a manual. Get on your board, assume a stance like above, and press down on your tail without adding pressure to your front foot. Obviously the tail will hit the ground. So, add pressure to your front foot.Keep your focus on your front foot. Focusing on the amount of pressure applied to both feet at the same time is a waste of mental energy. All you need to focus on is adjusting the pressure you apply to your front foot! Practice being aware and focusing on the position of your head. Practice getting used to keeping your head steady just above the area where your front foot is controlling the manual! The proportion of applied pressure to your feet and the steady balance of your weight (practiced best through mindful awareness of the position of your head throughout). You will learn to support yourself further by using your shoulders and arms, which will serve you in the same manner as the poles used by balance beam walkers. As mentioned earlier, practicing every aspect of a trick at once right from the onset is difficult. Familiarize yourself with the different elements of a trick, and keep practicing! Perhaps the most effective training for manual-ing is setting distance goals. The first distance goal should be very brief, something like 3 feet (1m.) Once such a distance goal becomes simple, set your goals further and further apart. When keeping your balance during a manual becomes a more and more familiar feeling, try keeping your eyes focused further forward to make your manuals steadier over longer distances. The idea is the same whether for ollie to manual or kickflip to manual or any other trick to manual. Naturally, the more difficult the trick, the more difficult it is to land it and continue it in manual. Keep practicing your balance during regular manuals, because you can’t ollie or trick out of a manual without a great sense of balance during manual. Good luck. Am I just not smooth enough with the technique or do I need to manual-fliptrick off of something to get the air to land the next manual. I've tried manual, then really crouching to get high air, but just can't get it. I'm working on some of the video milestones and this is stumping me. Any advice? As long as you're reasonably quick, doing the full motion for a fliptrick while in a manual doesn't interrupt the manual at all. Once you get the timing, you'll be able to do them continuously for hours. When in the manual try a really quick flip - down and around quickly and then a slight pressure on the stick to land in a manual. Just takes practice. I beat the game(or whatever) on ps3, and i can't wait to play it on the 360. Might even wait until a price drop and buy it for the 360. It was alot of fun. Great game that should have gotten more notice.It helps to have about four pushes, even though the game says that after three you're at full speed. I found that by giving myself a little more takeoff space, I was able to maintain enough speed to manual on that second block. It still took me a ton of tries, but I was getting more close attempts after fixing the starting position. I only recently realized that if you zoom in on the map you can jump directly to various events; I'd been hotfooting all the time. And its disappointing that you can't make a female avatar. Skate2 is going to be badass and I predict it being a bigger hit. EA put a tremendous effort into building this city and I give them big props for it. Or rather, I can do it, but the game refuses to acknowledge it. This sequence ought to do it, right? - From stationary, lean back on the right stick till you start manualling - Circle the stick right and up for a pop-shuvit - Lean half-forward on the right stick to land. I've done it dozens of times - visually it looks perfect, but it doesn't tick the box in the video challenge. Swapping a kickflip for the pop-shuvit doesn't seem to help either. Any suggestions? Sometimes you have to hold the move for a bit for it to register. Try manual-ing for a second or two before throwing in the flip, then holding the manual after you land. I don't think I can give too much advice on this one since I did pretty much the first time, so I didn't have to learn wtf I was doing. It'll reverse your stance. (As long as you're moving) The extra airtime makes it much easier. Kind of embarrassing that I didn't figure that out on my own. Keep kicking on the flats and crouched on the slopes? The left stick just steers. Also be sure that you are making the appropriate move for your stance and you are not fakie. Left foot forward is Regular, right foot forward is Goofy. The moves don't always work fakie. Sorry, posted before I was fully awake. The only example I can remember off the top of my head is the Lazer flip and the 360 flip. They use the exact same movement, just mirrored. So if you are trying to do a 360 flip and it registers as a Lazer flip, you can either do the motion in the opposite direction, or you can switch stance. Iirc, the sponsors became available just by advancing through the game. It took a while to get the second one after the board. The third and fourth came pretty fast for some reason. I'll keep working on the challenges and events. I'm still loving this game but my weak grinds are now impeding my ability to get the bigger scores. Iirc, the sponsors became available just by advancing through the game. It took a while to get the second one after the board. The third and fourth came pretty fast for some reason. Some of them are really fiddly, though. I have a hard time distinguishing between any of the moves where you have to start at an off angle on the back. Doing a varial instead of whatever. I just cheat and do 540s after the computer bails, and just watch it spaz out trying to figure out WTF I did. I love how the moves it does are often completely unrelated. Like, I do a heelflip 540, and the computer will do something random like a nollie 360 flip 180.
