This next generation video mixer expands your visual presentation and performance potential to new applications and dimensions. More than 500 lines of video resolution ensure very high image quality after digital processing and mixing. With the selector switch located on the top panel, you can select between two computer sources. Using the luminance key or chroma key, enables logos or text from your computer to be keyed over background video enabling the display of lyrics, bottom thirds, and announcements. Integrating computer graphics and visual applications with video sources has never been easier. Composite two images with Picture-in-Picture and Luminance or Chroma keying. Customize your transitions between the A and B bus with multiple flavors of simple mix, hard or soft wipes, and the all-new stretch and slide transitions. The master fader control is a slider bar enabling quick and intuitive operation while working on the fly. The motorized faders of the M-400 automatically follow the video switching of the V-8. Now you can have your audio sources follow your video sources without the need to manually control two mixers at once. David S 4.0 out of 5 stars I decided to buy the Edirol V8 because it handled two computer inputs and other video inputs. The transitions are great and smooth. The only problem I have is that I do not have as clear a picture on the wall as I had when going directly from the computer to the projector. The smaller writing on slides I show on the wall thru the Ediro V8 is not readible or is blurry. I used a video converter scaler to go from the S-Video output on the Edirol V8 to the vga on the projector. I was told by Roland support this was normal because of the transition from Svideo to vga. I'am still working on that, but otherwise it has worked great. I could not afford to go high def so I have to make this work.http://www.fiskene.com/images/carter-w-1-manual.pdf I hope to be able to go to the high def end one day, but for now this will do, and is switching without problems so far. I have been using it for about a month and am still learning. The special effects presets aren't nearly as well thought out as the Edirol V-4. (we have 2 of those) Mostly I hate this switcher because the buttons for the channels are way too touchy - if you don't press it in exactly the right spot with the right pressure, the video pops in and out of blue screen, which the V-4 never did. After buying this item and using it for almost a year 3-4x a week, I would not buy Edirol again or recommend it.Has hundreds of features. Every input has its own separate output for preview. The PC input is great for overlays, use a solid color background on a power point slide and chroma key it out, it gives you an excellent sports score overlay, or even a news banner. We also used our setup to broadcast football and basketball games, with a 4 and 6 camera setup. Two other inputs were the PC for score overlay, and one that came from an instant replay unit, so that we could do instant replay. The setup we had is probably one of the best run high school productions in our area. I don't think that there is a thing that you cannot do with this video switcher. It is ideal for use in nightclubs, theatres, and other live performances. The V-4 outputs the same video source to all the three jacks (Composite x 2, S-video x 1), for simultaneous monitoring and displaying, without resorting to external distribution boxes. The V-4 is designed for its functions and operations to be clear from the front panel. Because it is simple to use its easy-to-use operation will enhance your Realtime performance. Most of the V-4 functions can be selected and controlled without resorting to the manual. For cutting-edge Multimedia artists, the V-4 offers V-LINK, an exciting new feature from Edirol and Roland that provides for Realtime performance control over digital video, for the ultimate in creative expression. V-LINK allows the user to trigger clips, perform video effects and transitions in real-time when connected with the Edirol PR-80 (sold separately).Ideal for use on large screens, and because the V-4 internal processing is digital there is no quality loss. These processes enable smooth transitions and Dissolves, and ensuring stable images all the time. The V-4 also features composition effects such as Picture-in-Picture, Chroma-key, and Luminance-key. The effects are recallable by a single button press. A V-4 innovation is that you chose to attach the fade however you like, either, vertically as standard for video mixer, or horizontally as a DJ mixer fader. The fader resolution has over 100 steps and offers extremely smooth transitions. Its metal body as well as its fader is strong and durable to be used in your active performance. You can control V-4's major functions (Ex. Effect selection, MIDI input setting, etc.) from the dedicated preview screen using the convenient On-Screen Menu. This is separate from the output to the main outs, so you can view it anytime you want. V-4's User memory function allows you to memorize and conveniently recall the panel settings, such as effect assignment to each button. The memory is saved even while the power is off, so you can store the frequently-used setting. Maximum eight configurations. The functions of V-4 can also be controlled via MIDI equipment such as a MIDI keyboard controller. If you have the optional PR-80, various visual performances become even more creative by mixing the DV-7PR's numerous video clips with the V-4's visual effects, all with Realtime transitions and composition.
