I would recommend this to everyoneI can get so much food on the trays, that sometimes I struggle to hunt something else to fill a shelf or two. My only complaint was I had to buy separate screens and fruit leather trays. When I received the Weston Vegikiln dehydrator (10 tray), I was quite excited to get to work. I was concerned about the temp and was happy to see in the owners manual that it tells you to use a stick thermometer and TEST the temp before dehydrating meat. It was newly out of the box, so I did just that. I used three different thermometers at one time. I used a glass candy one, a stick dial one and also an electronic probe. I set it to the 145-155 setting (highest) and let it go. An hour later, all three thermometers read 120 degrees. Hey, at least now I know that my thermometers are all accurate. LOL Customer service sent me a replacement and this one went back. I get that sometimes things get thrown out of whack with the shipping and stuff. I won't hold it against them. The second one arrived and I followed the owners manual again and tested the temp. This time, I hit 130 after 45 minutes. Seriously? Sorry, it had to go back. I ended up throwing more money at the problem and bought the Excalibur. Set at the 145-155 setting, it hit that in like 5 minutes at the most. The Weston Vegikiln was a dud. I'm kinda glad it was a dud because the interior was not going to be easy to clean. All those little spots. The positive thing about the Vegikiln was that it ran whisper quiet. I had to actually walk up to it to make sure it was still running. LOL It was super quiet. The Nesco was also very loud, so had to live on the back porch, and only had a single, very warm temperature. The 10 tray Weston has a lot of capacity. The fan is VERY quiet, especially compared to the Nesco. I wouldn't mind having it in the house if I didn't already have a spot on an enclosed porch for it.http://skazka76.ru/pic/userfile/bosch-maxx-900-washing-machine-manual.xml I haven't tested the accuracy of the adjustable thermostat, but I have checked the air flow. From top tray to bottom, you can feel a consistent flow of air, both to amount of air and air temperature. The trays seem to be drying consistently throughout. That was what I wanted, and this is delivering. With a temperature range from 85F to 165F, you can do anything from raw foods to jerky in this. I plan on using the lower temps to dry herbs in the fall, make my own tempeh, make raw food crackers, and to assist my bread rising in the winter in my cold house. When my unit arrived, one of the plastic tray fronts was broken. I phoned Weston, got a customer service rep within 2-3 seconds, explained the problem, and had a replacement on the way (via Priority Mail) within a couple of minutes. I was very impressed. The only reason I'm giving this 4 instead of 5 stars is that the trays could be a little deeper and have more of a pronounced side along the sides and rear. Perhaps there is a 'normal' distance between trays, and I'd just like some more room than that, but I did have to squash some of my larger chiles to get them to sit comfortably in the tray as it slid in. Another thing to mention is that this does not have a front door. The front facade is made completely of the tray fronts. So, if you leave out a tray to allow more depth on another tray, there could be heat consistency issues. However, that's what I intend to do to rise bread and make tempeh, and I'm fairly confident it will work. Overall, I'm really, really happy that I switched to a Weston. We have made a lot of jerky and dried fruit and every bit has turned out perfect. The fans in the back of the unit make all the difference for keeping the air moving to dehydrate everything evenly. Worth every penny! No bad side here, highly recommend. When using it this last weekend the heating element went out on it. Doesn't seem like it holds up very well.https://www.informaquiz.it/petrgenis1604790/status/flotaganis18032022-1557First top drying shelf was broke on one corner I guess from a drop on a angle. The Fruit Roll Sheet will catch drips and make cleaning easier. If you have two, it’ s easy to com- bine a load from both dehydrators. The ideal storage place is your freezer or refrigerator, particu- larly for storing low acid foods such as meats, fish, and vegetables. All fruits dried with skins intact should be packaged and frozen for a minimum of 48 hours to prevent any possibility of insect infestation. They are high in acid (and consequently less prone to spoilage and micro-organisms), and taste delicious. Seasonally, fruit can be obtained in bulk from orchards or farms for considerably lower prices than what you may find in the supermarket. The majority of fruits are simply sliced and dried. However, some fruits tend to oxidize more than others. Oxidation causes browning of cut food surfaces when fruit is dried, This causes a loss in flavor and vitamins A and C. If some pieces are drier than others, the conditioning process will allow the moisture to equalize. If any condensa- tion appears on the lid of the container, fruits are insufficiently dried. In some blenders with some fruits, you may want to add a little juice or water to start the blending process. Fruits generally need no added sweetening, but if fruits are under ripe or particularly tart, you may add light. Drying times are affect- ed by the size of the load, fruit thickness, the moisture content of the food itself, as well as other variables discussed in Drying Time, page 10. If pre-treatment is suggested, use one of the pre-treatments indicated on page 14. Others lose their appeal and are better frozen or fresh. Some vegetables are far better frozen than dried, if you must preserve them. Vegetables have a low acid and sugar content that makes them more subject to spoilage, and tend to have a far shorter shelf life than dried fruits. Depending on the age and design of your microwave, you may want to stop the cooking half way through and stir the vegetables to achieve a more even blanching. Blanching decreases drying times, but not all vegetables are blanched. Again, the average drying times below are general and depend on different variables which are listed in Drying Time page 10. For more accurate times, keep records of your own specific experience and record them in the space provided under each general time guideline. Don't wash Onions Remove skins, tops, and root ends.A lean cut of flank steak or round steak makes excellent jerky. If you are making jerky from a ground meat, add one package jerky seasoning mix per pound of ground meat. Place on trays in your dehydrator and dry. It must be cooked so that it will not be tough and chewy when reconstituted. Using the remainder of a dinner roast or left-over steak saves the step of precooking the meat. They are prized by food lovers and gourmet cooks. Dried herbs and spices are next-best. They are used more often than fresh because they are more readily available and convenient to use. Rub the seeds between the palms of your hands while blowing on them to remove the husks. Place larger seeds on a Clean-A-Screen sheet. Dehydrate until there is no moisture evident. Seeds and leaves are easily stripped from the plant when dry. Do not dry herbs with fruits and vegetables. Store in glass containers in a cool, dark place to reduce flavor loss. Drying Flowers Preserve garden and natural favorites for attractive dried flower arrangements, Christmas and holiday decorations, party favors, place cards and corsages. Trim wire to desired length. Push wire into styrofoam to hold rose upright. Using small brush, seal rose with Mod Podge. When dry, add baby's breath and silk leaves around the top of the rose. The best choice is a polyure- thane varnish. Be sure to remove your ornaments from your dehydrator and place in a well ventilated area (preferably out-of-doors) before applying varnish. Paint and seal as directed in the salt dough recipe. Potpourri Home dried potpourri and sachets are fun and easy to do in your dehydrator. Take advantage of your flower garden in the summer by dehydrating petals, for potpourri, to use the rest of the year. Separate eggs. In small bowl, beat egg white until stiff. Set aside. In medium bowl, beat egg yolks, buttermilk, and vegetable oil until blended. If too hard, allow to stand in boiling water 5 minutes to soften. In a medium bowl, cream butter or margarine with brown sugar and granulated sugar. Shake off excess. Pack in a jar and cover with olive oil. Strain through a sieve, and simmer the puree until thick. Spread on Fruit Roll sheets or spread on trays lined with plastic wrap (be sure not to cover the center hole or the side vent hole on the outer edge of the dehydrator trays). LT-2W (Set of 2): For use on FD-40, FD-50, FD-50T and FD-60. Any attempt to interfere with the operation of these safety features makes this warranty null and void. Will 5.0 out of 5 stars If there were to be an improvement, I would love for additional individual rings to be sold separately so that I could stack multiple filaments at once.Took 10 hours and you would have thought you had bought the biltong in the shops - love it and can't wait to try dried fruit. Excellent value for money and extremely quiet so you can have it in the kitchen without it driving you crazy. Highly recommended. However I have used this machine several times since purchase and I am very pleased with the performance. A good machine for this price bracket. It’s amazing for the price. Had a different one and it was no good it didn’t even have air or a sound coming from it. Opted for this one after and what a great bargain. It’s so good. Can’t wait to try and dehydrate more things in it. I can see me using this a lot.Well pleased on the first run, on my second batch. So far so good. If it stands the test of time, it will have paid for itself many times. The instruction manual says the product can run for no longer than 42 hours, the page on amazon says 42 minutes.Love it!! Boyfriend was unsure, but he's loving the dried mango and especially the dried kiwi (says they taste like a healthy version of haribos tangtastics!) -please note there's no timer. -also not dishwasher proof (but doesn't need more than a wipe down)The trays do need to be hand washed but are fairly sturdy. I've made beef jerky, banana chips, apples rings and sundried(dehydrated) tomatoes. Very pleased. Allows the convenience of using less trays and less energy! When the ball is rotated so that the hole is perpendicular to the flow path, the flow stops. Figure 7-1. Typical ball valve. Most ball valves are the quick-acting type. They require a 90-degree turn of the actuator lever to either fully open or completely close the valve. This feature, coupled with the turbulent flow generated when the ball opening is partially open, limits the use of ball valves as a flow control device. View chapter Purchase book Read full chapter URL: Piping material, process terms, and piping codes Geoff Barker IEng.,MEI., in The Engineer's Guide to Plant Layout and Piping Design for the Oil and Gas Industries, 2018 Valves: Types of valves Gate valves— Used for ON-OFF shutdown Globe valves— Used for throttling and control of flow, and for control valves. Ball valves — There are two types of ball valves: reduced port and full port, typical applications for these valves are air lines, process lines, gas lines, pigging lines (full port only) design and cost decides the type to be used. Plug valves— used in industrial processes, oil and gas, petro-chemical, refining, and pipelines. The advantage of the plug valve is that during the opening and closing of the valve, the valve disk and valve seat is separated and there is no friction and thus the sealing face has no abrasion, a soft seal is applied for sealing, so there will be no leakage in the process of closing. Butterfly valves— used throughout the process, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, food, brewing, and industrial industries for process, water, and fluids. Types of butterfly valves include flanged, lug, wafer, and triple offset. It should be noted that you never place a butterfly valve at a vessel nozzle, as the disk can penetrate inside the vessel nozzle. A lug or wafer butterfly valve therefore could not be used as an isolation valve at a piece of equipment as for maintenance the valve could not be removed, as the line would not be isolated.
