Mary Maples 4.0 out of 5 stars After receiving the detector, I quickly assembled it, reviewed about two pages of instructions and then couldn't wait any longer. I went out to the backyard and fumbled around a bit. It is pretty straight forward. I did need to go back and read the directions a bit to see how to fine tune the detector. In my back yard I have a power-line overhead, so I had to turn the sensitivity down or it would start randomly beeping. I was able to quickly find some pennies, a dime and some old brass hose nozzles in my yard. I took it out to the local school and found several quarters, pennies, a silver heart pendant, and my favorite so far, a 1910 silver Canadian dime. I ended up buying some cheap foam headphones and an adapter to plug it in. They work pretty good for the 7 bucks I spent on the headphones and adapter. I would definitely recommend getting the pinpointer. I didn't get one, and after watching some videos, and doing a couple hours of detecting, it seems those can save a lot of time. I find myself crouching down, digging, standing up, sweeping the detector again, crouching down, dig some more, etc. I still find myself having to turn the sensitivity down as I will start to get a lot of random beeps. Apparently those can come from Electromagnetic interference. Since I am in the suburbs surrounded by electronic devices, that might explain it. We'll see how it does when I get out away from the neighborhoods.https://congviendisan.vn/vi/boss-dr-rhythm-dr-55-manual Anyway, I really like that I spent a bit more to get this detector that has some good features. I don't think this detector goes very deep. At least not in the discriminator mode. You can use the all metal mode to go a little deeper though.I needed it to find a property pin, which I did find, so I'm happy. It has multiple settings and some nice features. I'm going to poke around with it and try to find some coins and jewelry and artifacts and whatnot. My only complaint is that the instructions tell you to hold the detector straight down and keep the coil level with the ground as you sweep an area. I can't do that because the main shaft is too long even at its shortest setting. I have to hold the coil away from me a foot or two and that's hard on the arm. The coil head adjusts so I can still keep it level to the ground, but it's still tiring. Still, I like it and the price was fair enough for something that I can use to have a little fun.In just a couple of weeks, I've unearthed dozens of items ranging from square nails to horse shoes to coins. I normally use the 'detect all metal' mode because I enjoy discovering the variety of objects, but it has correctly identified the three coins that I have found as two pennies and a nickel. The unit has excellent range also - I found two horseshoes that were buried about a hoof down (oops, I meant foot.) Batteries have also lasted much longer than I expected. Great fun!One thing I have learned, people do litter way too much.It was buried about 2 feet deep. It did find the coffee can, but it took a while because it also found lots of other stuff. It even found the buried gas line going to the house, which is buried at least 3 feet deep. I had no idea we had so much scrap metal (nails, clips, bolts, etc.) in our yard! It takes a while to get used to interpreting the beeps, but after a while you can pretty much tell if the buried object is large or small. The controls are a bit complicated, but it works great.http://www.dandbmachine.com/images/bydesign-lcd-tv-manual.pdf It was also used to find buried property markers. All in all I'm glad I bought this and I think it will come in handy in the future. Not being experienced with detectors and the features available I first spent time online watching tutorials etc. (Recommended!) With insight gained from experts the criteria for purchase came down to: discrimination, notching, motionless detection, penetration depth, and price. The BH sharpshooter II met all of these. Particularly the price was interesting as it is a recently discontinued model. To date the unit has performed very well. There is some 'chatter' in the discriminate and notch modes. Mostly big ferrous stuff will set off a random combination of tones regardless of the tuning. Dig a few of these and you quickly learn to listen to what the unit is telling you. Conversely, a solid tone is equally clear to the user once one learns to 'listen' to the unit. I've found the motionless 'all metal' detection mode particularly useful to gain a sense of the size and general shape of a hit before digging. Of course, the Sharpshooter II will not keep up with the high end professional detectors (as some owners of these like so much to point out). For myself, I've found it to be an excellent combination of features (typically found on more expensive machines) and price. I recommend it to any 'weekend warrior' looking for extras while also keeping to a budget.Very impressed with how sturdy and light weight it is. Depth seems average and very sensitive.
