The Virginian 4.0 out of 5 stars We chose this Boston Acoustics soundbar for the front left, front right, and center channels of our 5.1 sound system for the TV. Unlike some soundbars, this one does not include any audio decoders, equalizers, amplifiers, or other electronics. It is just speakers. The best thing about this soundbar is the high quality sound. It produces very clear sound that extends well down to the lower mid-range frequencies where a separate subwoofer can take over. All soundbars are DEFINITELY not the same. There are so many cheap soundbars out there that cost much less than this one, but every one of them I have heard produces cheap sound that lacks a clean lower midrange response. They almost always sound tinny. This one doesn't. This soundbar is definitely not inexpensive. Perhaps you could find something that sounds just as good as this for less money. If so, then buy it. However, I did not find it. The spatial separation is adequate, but not as great as one might get from separate left and right speakers that can be placed as far apart as desired.http://www.tour-du-monde-autostop.fr/upload/canon-zr850-ntsc-manual.xml

Other than the price, this is the only drawback to this soundbar. However, this is more than compensated for by the clean, aesthetic, installation with no visible wires. We mounted our LCD TV from the ceiling, and we mounted this soundbar directly beneath the TV. It looks terrific. When matched with a set of rear channel speakers and a good subwoofer, this soundbar can provide a theater-like experience in your home. Bottom line: this soundbar looks and sounds great. If the quality of the sound, and the appearance of the installation are important to you, and if you can afford it, then you should consider this soundbar. Thankfully, soundbars are usually cheap enough that if you were forced to replace one down the road it wouldn't be the end of the world. The P400 is essentially a home theater's front three speakers, left-center-right, in a single soundbar chassis. This means that the P400 is treated like any other home theater speaker, drawing power from a receiver or amplifier via its three pairs of five way binding posts.Additional Resources The P400 is the perfect size to fit comfortably and stylishly under any moderate to large HDTV available today. Both look stunning especially when wall mounted. Speaking of wall mounting, the P400 comes with the required bracket to mount it to a wall as well as with a table stand for those wanting to rest it on a shelf or credenza. Count them up and the P400 has nine total drivers, giving it a reported frequency response of 80Hz to 20kHz with a sensitivity rating of 90dB into a standard eight-Ohm load. Power gets to the speakers via three pairs of gold plated five-way binding posts, which rest, centrally, along the P400's back panel and can accept bare wire or spade lugs. While capable of playing back music surprisingly well, it shines when given a properly mixed Dolby Digital or better yet a Dolby TrueHD soundtrack to play with.http://www.sdds.be/userfiles/canon-zr85-instruction-manual.xml The nice thing about the P400, because it is essentially three speakers with no internal DSP, is that it will play the latest surround sound formats provided your receiver or amplifier will decode the signals. The P400's sound is a bit lively which isn't a bad thing. It's very clear, dynamic and can handle volume pretty well. It does a surprisingly good job at sounding a bit larger than it really is as well as being more spatially open then one would expect from a single chassis design without tricky internal DSP. It does need a subwoofer for true full range sound, which is to be expected. Email us and tell us why you think this product should receive a higher rating. The P400 can grow with you and your system instead of becoming obsolete whenever Dolby or DTS releases a new surround sound format. ? The P400 shines at being an all-in-one home theater speaker and should fit the bill nicely for enthusiasts with space constraints and budget concerns. It may not be the best speaker for larger home theater or living spaces though. ? The P400 has a lively, upbeat, dynamic sound that is fun and engaging to listen to without becoming harsh or grainy. Keep the volume within reason and the P400 won't disappoint; push it to hard and it can and will begin to breakup. Again, not the end of the world but it will drive the total system cost up a bit. ? Because the P400 doesn't have any internal amplification or surround sound processing it does require the consumer to purchase a receiver and a source like a Blu-ray player to drive them, which may or may not be defeating the purpose of it being a soundbar. Personally, I love that the P400 is essentially three speakers in one chassis for I find it increases its long-term value to the consumer by not becoming obsolete every time there is a new format introduced. ? The P400's sound can fill small to medium sized rooms nicely.http://eco-region31.ru/boss-dd-3-manual However if you're rocking a great room or large media room you may want to step up to some dedicated on-walls or better still some floorstanding speakers. What I don't like about them is that they're usually limiting in terms of an upgrade path, which may render them obsolete when a new sound format is introduced. What I love about the P400 is that it gives the consumer all of the benefits of a soundbar, sleek design, various mounting options, single chassis design and more with none of the drawbacks I mentioned earlier because it is three speakers in one. Yes, I'm very angry right now, so my message certainly reflects that.:dammit: Here it is Very disappointed in the build quality. You guys used glue and screws. GLUE in a 1K Surround system. Then you put rubber black crap over that? Wow. Anyways, it makes random noises at times. Are you serious? While trying to fix it my self, because you hid the glue with black rubbery crap, the power switch broke. So I desoldered it, and now its in a million pieces, so i threw it out. I know how to install it. I referring to the board with the toggle switches for power, and polarity, and the board has the volume control and inputs on it. How much is that? Or do you sell a new switch? Remember. mini toggle. Its 3 way mini toggle one. Lowest position is OFF. Middle position is AUTO. Highest position is ON. It has four leads, and its four leads are 90 degree. If you don't have a board, OR a switch that I can solder on, then what are the specs of the switch. I'm trying to fix this for my 85 year old grandfather. He is in assisted living, and can't have a malfunction sub, or he may get kicked out for disturbing his fellow room mates. I was stunned that Boston Acoustics has incredible quality when it looks like a piece of crap from China. Here are photos on the board. Sorry for the rant. Just very frustrated. Your site is slow. No manuals for the Micro90pv, and no affordable repairs. -Nick P.S. I live in Beverly, a city over from BA HQ in Peabody. So I can always swing by if that would help. Click to expand. Black rubber crap and glue WITH screws. On a 1K surround system? Thats sad. Esp considering their products sound great, and are premium. You can always uncork later, but you can't take it back once you let the genie out of the bottle. As a saying goes, lather before the shave. Did a little poking around for a switch that seems like it would fit the app, but my common sources of Digikey and Mouser seemed to come up short.https://webhostmurah.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/16298e655aba3c---Construction-employee-manual.pdf Many, many switches they have, but none seemed to have in stock a SP3T on-on-on or off-on-on in a right-angle PCB mount. He's gonna do some investigating. He also is going to find out what the fricken specs of it is. Oh, while putting on the bolt, the polarity switch front broke off. It was held on with a bad of glue. Truley pathetic. Shitty quality. Over priced piece of garbage. I spent over 12 hours of my life trying to fix this cheaply made thing. If it doesn't get resolved by Friday, I'm sending the idiots in Peabody (BA HQ) a long and detailed letter with pictures and all. If they don't do anything, I might file a complaint with the BBA. And then possible throw the crap out. My advice. Don't buy Boston Acoustics. Their junk is cheaply made with glue, and then rubber epoxy. No standard parts, or tech support can't tell you the specs of a damn switch. So Poor customer service, poor quality, cheaply made, and prone to failing. Boston Acoustics is a rip off. After all, that's really what you want to do anyway. Click to expand. Why my grandfather didn't do much when the issue started 6 months after purchase- i'm not sure. I just want it to work though.I'd consider yourself lucky the guy even entertained the adventure to look into it. Sure seems to me the gadget wasn't intended to be repaired.Click to expand. When I have a complicated question for Apple tech support, the put me on hold, or look it up. They always have an answer. Even when the computer is 8 years old. Same thing with Sony, but with CD players.Click to expand. I'd venture a guess that BA doesn't have the same level of support infrastructure as does Apple and Sony. Trust me, just because there might be a database of some sort isn't a guarantee it contains every possible bit of information. Frankly, I don't know why I'm arguing with you about this. I tried to find a switch for you, struck out, good luck.remember the bit about honey and vinegar, and lather before the shave. It works.http://www.nandomoraes.com.br/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/16298e6586a766---construction-equipment-maintenance-manual.pdfDo you equate BA with Apple and Sony. Putting it back together to bring it to a shop tomorrow, and bam, the polarity switch falls apart. You can see where the glue was that held it together. You see the pictures above showing the glue and black crap. Whats the glue and black crap used for. The speaker is nice, but the amp isn't Whats the paint in the heatsinks in the pictures for. Surly a premium product wasn't slapped together in a sweatshop was it. I'm not directing this at you, just venting my anger, and just sayin. Not bad, i'd say.Not bad, i'd say. Click to expand. I was looking into purchasing either the Boston Acoustics system 9500 or the 9000 model. Any suggestions? Do you like your BA speakers.etc. Thanks in advance. The speakers are good, but you should be aware of their limitations. The Micro 90x speakers may be adequate for smaller rooms and moderate listening levels, but they will not play loud music or reference level movie soundtracks without distorting. There is another problem. The Onkyo TX-DS696 has a crossover of 80 Hz, which is good, but the speakers you are considering should be used with a crossover of about 135 Hz. I'm now using Micro 100x speakers (System 10K) for left, center and right, VR-MX surrounds and a PV800 subwoofer. For my needs, the performance of these speakers is worth the extra money. I was also having trouble finding specs on the different Boston Acoustics speakers.www.ehlisogutma.com/image/files/Calculus-graphical-numerical-algebraic-solution-manual-pdf The Official website is a bit lacking of the technical aspects of the different speakers. Do you know what other model speakers are good to use with my crossover. Thanks again Stephen for the information. The frequency response specs for the System 9000 II include the subwoofer, so a direct comparison is not possible. However, the subwoofer crossover frequency of 150 Hz is a good hint that the satellites have limited capability below that frequency. If the low end of the satellite speaker's frequency response drops off too much above the crossover, there will be a notch (loss of upper bass) between the subwoofer and the satellite.Would that be better then using something like the VR-12 or 10, if I can still find them. Unless there are factors, SAF for instance, I often advise against all in one sets of speakers. They are good for some people, but others they will find faults quickly and be left with no real upgrade path. What I mean is, if you buy that Boston setup, and you find you need more upfront in the mains, you can't just go buy say the CR9s because they won't match. My suggestion is to buy a good set of stereo speakers that have matching center and surrounds. This can easily be done with a little budgeting. Also, I have found that all-in-one HT speaker packages don't produce music that well. Although this Boston set may be an exception. Just Something to think about, Jon After writing that last post I went to read my Boston catalog. It sure enough mentioned those systems and I made an error. If you buy the 9500, which appears to be quite good, you could later upgrade your mains to many of the others offered. Here is an example. Lets say you get the system9500 and feel that for music listening there needs to be a little more oomph in the mains. Or perhaps you enjoy 2 channel and want a better 2 channel experience. You could pick up a pair of vr-m50s or any of the reference line. That would be a very good match I think. BTW, I really like the VR-M series, I don't want to but I do. There is a price difference but still. If you got the system9500 and later upgraded if you felt the need, it would be quite a setup. Good luck, Jon Take your time and listen before buying. If you don't want to pay the extra scratch for this setup, you could always use Outlaw Audio's external bass-management unit to optimize your gear using the BA 9000 system. I have had Bostons all the way around for about 3 yrs now. Love 'em. VRM50s up front, 920 center, 1000 sub and VRMXs as rears. They are all great. I upgraded the VR10 to the 920 when I got a larger TV, but the VR10 is a great center. John Seems most of the BA dealers near me try and stay too close to the MSRP. Obviously, you're looking to pay as little as possible.Several years ago I bought the T1030 towers and a VR-12 center channel. I have a Hsu Research VTF-2 sub. This system sounds really good when driven by my Onkyo 989. A couple questions. If you want something that produces amazing sound quality and bass, by BOSE or even Boston's that are meant to be true at home computer speakers. I bought these recognizing that they are just an upgrade to laptop speakers. There is enough bass to make me happy and the sound quality is great for what they are meant to do. If you are looking for something to blow you away, don't buy these. But, the people at work like them as much as I do when we have some free time to sit down and watch a movie. And, they are small enough I can store them in my locker at work without having to haul them with me back and forth. BOSE is my favorite, but for the price I think these Boston's were a great purchase. In order to navigate out of this carousel please use your heading shortcut key to navigate to the next or previous heading. A polarized plug The wide blade or the This attractive, powered subwoofer will complement any stereo or home theater surround sound system with its impressive bass output and compact size. A crossover bypass function is provided for use with home theater electronics that perform their own bass management. The benefit: The bass stays clean and strong at almost any listening level. The subwoofer’s circuitry filters out the high frequencies and sends the remaining low frequencies to the subwoofer power amplifier. The speaker inputs accept both left and right channel speaker signals from your receiver. The HO stands for high output, and its 250 watts of RMS power will deliver an amazing amount of bass for a subwoofer of this size. Then, there's the HPS 12HO, the same size as the 10SE, but with twice as much power, 300 watts, and a 12-inch DCD front-firing woofer. All three subwoofers are available in either Midnight or Mist. The HPS 10HO and 12HO feature the same soft-touch finish that is found on the bookshelf, LCR, and floorstanding speakers. Augment and compliment your system with everything from surround sound speakers to center channel speakers to satellite speakers. There's no need to limit your entertainment system when you have a myriad of speakers to choose from. And Proprietary Deep Channel Design (DCD) poly cones with phase plugs deliver smooth, consistent response at any output level. Includes dual 6.5-inch woofers with matching passive radiators and a 1-inch soft dome tweeter as well as MBOS (Maximized Bass Output System) for improved bass acoustics. Horizon Series HS450 Speakers: Dual Deep Channel Design (DCD) poly cones with phase plugs, dual passive radiators and rear vent ports used in tandem to enhance bass performance and eliminate audible noise. Includes dual 5.25-inch woofers with matching passive radiators and a 1-inch soft dome tweeter as well as MBOS (Maximized Bass Output System) for improved bass acoustics. Horizon Series MCS100 Satellite Speakers: With the same Deep Channel Design (DCD) woofers and soft-dome tweeters found in Boston Acoustics MCS 100 speakers, these are ideal rear-speakers solution for expanding any system--even the MCS 100 itself. Horizon Series MCS130-SUR Surround Speakers: With the same Deep Channel Design (DCD) driver as the Boston Acoustics MCS 130LCR speaker, but a significantly smaller footprint, the 130SUR works as both a great standalone bookshelf system and an ideal home theater surround system. Equipped with a 3.5-inch mid bass driver and a 1-inch soft dome tweeter as well as Reduced Baffle Diffraction Design (RBDD) for wider, smoother sound dispersion. Thang Nguyen 5.0 out of 5 stars The subwoofer, although heavy, has a fantastic design. I personally believe that it's a very designer look to it. Also with the ability to change the color of the grille (at a cost), it's also a welcomed addition. When it comes to the sound and performance, this is one of the best I've heard. Not only is it loud, but the sound also comes out very clean and clear and not muffled. This subwoofer also has the ability to vibrate my couch and I sit 10 feet away from the subwoofer. The 300 Watts RMS is more than enough power in my book. I also own a HPS-10HO (see my review on the HPS-10HO page), and never would I buy another subwoofer if Boston Acoustics continually produces such a great product.I love the precision of their sound, the quality of their construction and components, and their value. The HPS12HO met these expectations and more. I like the fact that it has an automatic power mode where it detects whether it's getting input and then powers itself on and off, silently and seamlessly, as needed. This works well if you have a variety of sources. Output is crisp and clear with no distortion up to painful volumes. Even though it's not down-firing, the sound is totally non-directional and it goes down to low enough frequencies (with no noticable drop-off until about maybe 28Hz) that you can really feel the bass, which is what you want. This is a great product! It is VERY well balanced bass. There is entirely NO distortion, or garbled vibrations. The exterior of the cabinet is made of the same materials as the HS 450's are.It looks pretty nice and it's really powerful, I only used it as indicated by the manual (turning it to 11 o'clock), certainly not even near its full potential, still when I tried TLOR DVD, my house is shaking. It certainly adds to all the fun of watching a great movie. And the price at Onecall, great!I got a defective one and had to exchange it from One Call. They do not even want to pay for shipping (Amazon nor One Call) for an exchange. The bass is really deep but not overpowering (unless you want it to be) and completely distortion free. I don't know how I ever had a home theater without it.
