This digital input looks like an ordinary RCA plug but carries many channels of audio. That connects to the enabled digital output of your computer. Some computers output digital through a 3.5mm jack others look just like an RCA phono jack. My old Gateway did, some SoundBlaster Live.http://clinicafootcenter.com/images/buy-car-manual-transmission.pdfThe speakers also won't work with my 80's stereo or my iPod. My 2005 a1101n HP doesn't play sound through them, either. I'm thinking it's just a different sound format coming out. Can anyone confirm this before I get rid of these speakers?? Thanks! I soonthereafter found a thread on the same topic. I was so stupid; it's been there forever but I never tried to figure out what it was. Thanks though! I got a new computer and they don't work at all. Can anyone confirm this before I get rid of these speakers??I have them plugged into my tv at the moment but they also work with my galaxy s2 phone and my laptop. You need to buy an ADC (analogue digital converter) and appropriate leads to work with all of the above. DONT buy a DAC (digital to analogue converter) as this is the opposite to what the speakers need to work with all of the above. All I can say is WOW WOW WOW. I can't believe the sound that pumps out of those tiny (ugly) speakers. I'm just so glad I looked up internet forums for help.thank you. We are working every day to make sure our community is one of the best. It may not display this or other websites correctly. You should upgrade or use an alternative browser. At some point -- either when I changed operating systems or both the computer and the operating system, they went silent, but I KNEW there was nothing wrong with them. I tried several times over the years to find out what to do, but I never followed the problem through to its resolution. I've had several more computers and a lot of challenges in life that kept me from addressing the situation again, but I didn't want to get rid of them, because, as anyone who is familiar with these speakers knows, they sound really good. AND, I'm now disabled and on a fixed income, so I don't want to trash perfectly good speakers. What I have now is an HP laptop - 6715b with Windows XP Pro. I am a non-techie. I will not be taking anything apart or doing any soldering.http://ipvoicenj.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/16298e0dad69ae---constructa-manual-dishwasher.pdf I am going to give you what I THINK is information about the sound card: Sounds and Audio Devices Properties DEVICES: Name: SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio Device Type: Sound, video and game controllers Device Properties: Manufacturer: Analog Devices Location: Location 65535 (Internal High Definition Audio Bus) Device Status: Working Properly Here are my questions: Main question -- What can I do??? Can I update the drivers for my sound card to fix the problem, or do I have to have a technician install a new sound card. If I can fix the problem by updating the drivers, is that something I can safely do online. My current card is working fine (but not for the BA735's) and I don't want to screw something up and end up with no sound at all. This was a necessary step that was discussed on the other site's thread. If I could finally resolve this after all these years, I would be so very happy.Next, without rebooting, download the newest drivers that you can find for the sound card, and install them. Then reboot, and let the laptop re-find and reinstall the sound card, with these latest drivers. These links 'might' help: You 'may' be able to get the BA735's working on your laptop, if the driver update doesn't work, but it wouldn't be easy, and would cost a little bit of money and time. So, unless you can go into the sound card's control panel, and switch the output to digital, the Boston's won't work with your standard headphone output jack. So, you'd 1st need to buy USB Audio 'stick' type external sound card, that offered a digital out. But most USB audio cards offer optical digital out, and you need coax digital. Next, you'd have to buy an optical to coax convertor. Up to you if they'd be worth the costs or not. Sorry! But I hope this helps.I'm thinking this: plus this: Thanks so much to both of you. Really appreciate it. Might decide it's too much trouble, but gosh I hate to give up on 'em.There is no USB associated with these speakers.BAHETH24CARS.COM/ckfinder/userfiles/files/Canoga-perkins-2270-fiber-modem-manual.pdf Maybe if I would read your answer more thoroughly, I would find out why you mentioned it. And then the RCA cable into the jack. And then the other end of the cable into the SPDIF Out side of the Fanmusic, and then. What am I doing with the USB part of the Fanmusic converter. I have no USB port on the speakers. I'm definitely not getting the whole picture. Can you clarify for me further. Sorry I'm so dense.Reading now.Or am I just not understanding how these things are used? Why do you ask about Creative Labs. It doesn't appear that your laptop uses one of their sound cards. I'm confident from what I read at HP that there is simply no digital output on your laptop. Therefore, a driver update cannot possibly help. Creative labs does, or did, make an external soundcard (SB0530) that you could use. This is where the problem lies. If the speaker system was functioning properly before the system upgrade and both green lights are illuminated, there is likely nothing wrong with your speakers. You need to make sure that the soundcard is configured for digital output. If the soundcard is configured for digital or if your computer manufacturer has informed you that you need to upgrade drivers in the system, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your soundcard for these drivers. Below are links to both Creative Labs (SoundBlaster) and Gateway. There you will find new drivers that will allow your sound card to work with Windows XP.http://accurateverdicts.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/16298e0ed6011f---constructa-dishwasher-manual.pdf For instructions on how to perform the driver installation, please contact your soundcard or computer manufacturer. Link to Microsoft Knowledge Base. Link to SoundBlaster's XP driver section. As for what you said first -- what to plug into what -- AHHHHH.Regarding what you said about the external sound card, I guess. I'd probably rather get the adapter set up you described. So I think you've answered all my questions. Now I just have to decide if I'm going to go forward with this. I can't thank you enough -- both of you, for jumping into the fray and helping me sort out an issue that has been frustratingly encountered and multiple times tabled for about eight years now. You, and audiokarma, ROCK. Are hugs allowed around here. I really appreciate your generosity.I really appreciate your generosity. Click to expand. It could also come in handy. And I 'think' the BA735's are worth buying a couple of extra's for, to get them working on your laptop. My wife and I have several different pairs of Boston PC speakers, and all of them sound great. As such, that's why I think you won't regret getting your pair playing again. Simple to do, as adam stated: USB from the laptop into the Fanmusic. The adapter then plugs into the mini-jack on the BA735 speakers. While the RCA Plug to 3.5mm Mono Jack Adaptor could plug directly into the coax output of the Fanmusic, I don't thing it would give you room to plug it into the Boston's without the extra RCA cable in between. Adding the RCA cable just gives you some extra cable length, to allow you to snake the cable to the speakers. Once you have everything connected, when you boot your laptop, Windows XP should automatically install USB drivers for the Fanmusic. You should then have sound, as soon as you turn the volume up on the speakers! The two of you really made my day. All this info is so valuable to me, and I will definitely keep my speakers now.http://www.1000ena.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/16298e0fc54d36---constructa-dryer-manual.pdf I've decided that I will first try to hook them up to my home stereo, because -- long story -- the speakers that are hooked up now are woefully inadequate, and I thought that maybe I could hook them up as additional speakers, rather than replacing what's already there. I don't know. The specs might not match up, but I just figured I'd satisfy my curiosity about that first. I think I even have a 3.5mm to RCA adapter around here somewhere. Anyway, hopefully sometime in the next week or two I'll hook that up. Got a lot going on this week. If it doesn't help out the home stereo system, then I'm going to follow through with getting them to work with the computer. The thing is that I already have another pair of computer speakers. They're not nearly as good as the BA's, but I'd be willing to use them, if it turned out that the BA's could improve the home stereo sound. Oh, what the heck, this is an audio site, so I may as well explain. See, I've got my Wharfedale S33's that I've had for many years, hooked up in my bedroom now, instead of the living room, where they would usually be. We moved a while back and there's no room for them in the living room, given our configuration of furniture. Instead, with my old school component system, I've hooked up these dinky bookshelf speakers that came with the Onkyo CS-445 mini system. So the CS-445 system is in the bedroom with the Wharfedales, while the better component system is in its rightful place in the living room, but with the Onkyo speakers. I know that's a really screwed up arrangement, and wacky of me to do it. Onkyo may be a good brand, and this system has good reviews and may be a good choice among its peers, but the bottom line is that the speakers are nothing close to satisfying; not at all. And by the way, they didn't sound good in the bedroom with the mini system either. Tolerable, maybe. The problem must be remedied.http://bacvietexpress.com/upload/userfiles/files/Canoga-9145-manual.pdf Either I rig up a situation that makes listening to music in the living room enjoyable, or I'll have to save my pennies and get some other speakers (either small bookshelf or very thin tower types). Can't afford that for now, so getting creative with the BA's is an idea that gives me hope. You can't run them from a analog line out from your main system. While you could, as suggested earlier, run them from a CD player's coax digital output, you couldn't match volume levels, between 2 sets of speakers, without changing volume of each set of speakers individually. i.e. Turn one set up or down, then use the BA735's volume knob to match it to the other speakers. Doable, but not ideal. Oh yea, Thanks for my Hug!!! The two of you really made my day. Can't afford that for now, so getting creative with the BA's is an idea that gives me hope. Click to expand. I was under the impression that the 3.5mm plug was hard-wired to the speakers and that's why I said you needed an RCA 3.5mm adapter. Actually, the speakers have an RCA input on them. So, you should be able to use an ordinary RCA RCA cable to connect the speakers to the DIGITAL output on a CD player, DVD player, or the USB converter I mentioned. As Stimpy said, the BA speakers will not be compatible with your old-school system. The important thing to remember is that those speakers must be connected to a digital output. Just because the plug fits doesn't mean they'll work, as you discovered with the laptop. One other thing. Both of your stereo systems are compatible with the output of your laptop. It would only take a simple cable to get the computer's sound to come through either of those systems.I appreciate you taking your time to explain things to someone so dense. Have a good week! As a non-analog system, the BA735 does require a digital sound card to function properly, which means it can plug into select DVD players as well as computers. Each speaker measures 3.25 x 3.5 x 3.25 inches, making them small enough to easily move about and rearrange as needed, and volume controls on one of the two satellites allow users to adjust the sound conveniently. With its simple operation and quality sound, the BA735 is a solid option for anyone who needs a functional set of speakers. However, make sure that digital speakers will work with your computer. I had a set of these BA735 speakers that lasted close to 20 years. When they failed, there was only one set of speakers that I wanted to replace them with; The BA735. However, they are no longer made, so I had to get them used. Many people are moving away from desktop PCs and even from Laptops and don't see the value of these speakers, so they sell them used. I found a New Old Stock set and bought them, BUT it was not compatible with my PCs, even though the other BA735 speakers worked great with these PCs. After closer examination, I realized that the BA735 speakers I had all these years had both digital and analog inputs and as it turns out, I always used the analog outputs on my PCs and ran into the analog inputs on my BA735. When I bought the replacement set, it only had digital inputs. It works! Sounds amazing! However, if I knew that Boston Acoustics changed the BA735 design and made it only digital and that they made a purely analog set called the BA745, I would have just bought a set of BA745 speakers. I think that the analog sounds even better and that is what most PC audio outs are; analog. I have owned or used four different sets of BA735's, one of which came as original equipment on a nice Gateway system. JUST SOME of these Malaysia-built units are also equipped with an Analog input on the subwoofer (usable with iPods, laptops, and the like), while others are STRICTLY DIGITAL and require a coaxial or mini-jack (not optical) digital output on the sound source. If you need one with Analog, be sure to confirm with your seller that the system in question has the dual inputs. There are absolutely no other differences between these two BA735 variants. Great sounding speakers. Make sure you have a digital audio output source or these will not work for you. All amplification happens inside the set of speakers, that's why they have a higher wattage output. Can't use keyboard volume controls or PC volume controls to adjust volume output, only the volume control on speaker can be used. But they do sound awesome once you get them to work!!! Cannot be used with iPod's or mp3 players, unless you have a special player that has digital audio output.and I seriously doubt you do. I really like Boston Acoustics computer speakers. I got my first set with a new Gateway computer around 20 years ago now. This particular set can only use digital input so you must have some other digital sound source to drive them. This pretty much limits them to be used only with a computer with a digital output jack on the sound card. My cable television box has a digital sound output jack so they do work with it. Verisign. Venn Diagrams are used since elementary school to show relationships between at least two sets of information. While using these in math can help you make sense of this information, they don't get the complex connections that you'll find when using different kinds of diagrams. Here are four ways to draw a simple Venn Diagram to help you understand a few of the fundamentals involved. First, let's look at a fundamental term in mathematics. You have probably heard of Fourier analysis, but you may not have heard of it used in Venn Diagrams. It entails finding the most likely combinations of terms in a sequence of measurements and then taking the difference between them to find the frequency of the term. If you are discovering a similarity in the series of numbers, then you've found a commonality. Let's go back to our basic terms and also do a Fourier analysis. With this concept, we are able to learn which terms are the most prone to happen in two numbers. By understanding which ones are typical, we can easily locate the most likely relationship in a sequence of numbers. If the series indicates a common connection for lots of the things, then it may be a good thing. We can use this info to help us determine which numbers signify which values and what the resulting set of numbers resembles. If we've got many, many common conditions between both series, then there is a pretty good chance that the relationship is a great one. This makes it a fantastic place to start looking for the information that we need to understand what a Venn Diagram is speaking about. The main use of Venn Diagrams is to assist you to understand that a new idea. It doesn't make sense to do an investigation for something you do not understand anything about. In many cases, you'll come across a notion through expertise with something you have no experience with. That is the reason a lot of educational institutions use Venn Diagrams. It's important that you get as much as possible before leaping right into a really complicated subject. A lot of people attempt to learn about Venn Diagrams by just reading about them. This will work, but you should keep in mind the lines of the diagram might not show the relationships you are looking for. You may have come across a diagram which worked well for you, but you will not have the ability to identify the value of these terms when you examine the actual line. You can do this rather easily by drawing a line in the most frequent phrases in the series to the least frequent terms.
