One of the dealers I go to always recommends breaking in a new engine with regular oil and then switching to synthetic. He's a big fan of the Castrol SAE 30 HD oil as he says that when you get into hot temperatures in the summer, the thinner oils tend to evaporate more. The SAE 30 isn't supposed to work well below 10 degrees celsius or 50 degrees fahrenheit but I haven't had any problems with it. Depends primarily on your usage. A buddy of mine with a six year old Gravley 260 with the commercial FH721V 25hp Kaw engine says he ran Mobil1 10w30(non-synthetic) for the first year, then switched to Mobil1 10w30 synthetic(upon the Gravely dealer's advice). That just doesn't pass the smell test: if the dealer has a service manual of some sort, how can I get a copy. I've never used my servicing dealer for service because they seem to be idiots who don't know what they're doing. I've used a trusted independent guy, but he's 30 miles away and I don't want to pay the expensive charge to have the mower picked up and delivered if I can do some of this work myself. Mower has about 230 hours on it, so it's coming up on its first 250-hour change. I'd like to know how much hydro oil to put in each reservoir as a start. The dealer said to start with about 1.5 quarts, go through the cycling process, and add more as needed. Okay, but where is that information written down.Unless you just get lucky to find one posted on the web and get it down loaded before they have it taken down you will not get one. That's about what I figured regarding shop manual availability. The difference in the lack of detail in my Lazer Z manual, and manuals from other lawn tractors I've had (Cub, Sears--AYP stuff), is that the Lazer is a commercial mower for a commercial user, and the other manuals were for homeowners. How to change belts, for example, isn't mentioned in my owner's manual at all, unlike the homeowner mowers I've had. I know how to do it, but the fact that it's not even mentioned seems a glaring omission. Part of my frustration with Exmark is that they're selling into the McMansion homeowner market more and more, and you'd think they'd work to keep repeat customers and get high recommendations from current homeowners for their product line. But, then, that's just me. For this purpose, use of such an inspection form will facilitate collecting information to the point required for proper analysis and diagnosis. DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) CHECK 1) Prepare SUZUKI scan tool (Tech-1). 2) With ignition switch OFF, connect it to data link connector (DLC) (1) located on underside of instrument panel at driver’s seat side. During engine cranking circuit malfunction cycle Camshaft position sensor circuit 1 driving P0340 No signal during engine running cycle. Check ignition timing as follows: “ENGINE DIAGNO- Check ignition control 1) Using SUZUKI scan tool, select “MISC” mode on SIS TABLE” in this related parts referring SUZUKI scan tool and fix ignition timing to initial section. Condition Possible Cause Referring Item Hard Starting. Even when the vehicle is in good condition, there may be cases where the checked value does not fall within each specified data range. CAUTION: ECM (PCM) cannot be checked by itself. It is strictly prohib- ited to connect voltmeter or ohmmeter to ECM (PCM) with coupler disconnected from it.
