I absolutely adore the 32GB. The phone is noticeably heavier and thicker than my dear old 925, so does not slide as easily into a pocket, but is otherwise excellent.I've had one since it came out, and I bought one for my husband back in February because he was sick of all the issues with his Samsung and Motorola Android phones: poor bluetooth connectivity, constantly freezing, poor battery life, he always complained that it felt cheap (like it was about to fall apart, from day one), apps always crashing, frequently rebooting itself. The list goes on. We both love Windows Phone 8, and even upgraded to 8.1 under the Developer Preview program. It's fast, reliable, and smooth. You really have control over the bulk of the phones functionality, including what apps can run in the background. I have had people knock it out of my hand, kittens run across it full speed with claws out, dropped keys on the screen (accidentally when putting them in the search-bin at the airport), and it only has 1 scratch on the screen. Just one, that you can only see at the right angle. This is a true Nokia phone; it breaks the floor, not the other way around.It feels good on my hands, it doesn't feel cheap. The camera is alright, although not as great at the 1020. It took about 3 hrs to update it to the current operating system but now works great. One major downside to windows phones is the lack of apps.The screen is gorgeous as well. Back of the phone is a bit slippery, but it's acceptable. The 1020 is an unusually wide phone, though, and the camera lens bump on the back tends to make it float over a table rather than sit directly on it, making it appear even thicker than it is. Noise cancellation was adequate if not total, reducing construction and traffic noise to a background hiss. Transmissions through the speakerphone had a tendency to sound a bit distant, but nothing too awful. The 1020 doesn't measure up to the Galaxy S 4 on voice quality, but it'll certainly do. The 1020 had no problem connecting to Jawbone or Plantronics Bluetooth headsets. I got excellent speeds on the Ookla Speedtest.net app, with downloads often exceeding 20Mbps and uploads around 5Mbps, as befits America's fastest wireless network. Don't try to move the 1020 over to T-Mobile, though, as the phone lacks one of T-Mobile's HSPA bands. It's the same size as the Lumia 928's battery, though; we got 9 hours and 32 minutes of talk time on that device, and with the same processor, OS, and screen size, we'd expect this one to be similar. The phone benchmarked very similarly to those other devices. The UI is smooth and fluid, but the Internet Explorer browser doesn't render pages as quickly as the latest version of Chrome on Android superphones, according to the Browsermark browser benchmark. Most notably for photographers, there's no Instagram, although there's a bunch of third-party clients: Instance, Wpgram, and Metrogram.
