Included instructions or user's guide beyond what's printed on the box is non-existent. Look online for help topics. I have to keep the N600 within about 20' of the router to keep the light blue. Also, while WiFi coverage increases, there is a substantial download speed hit with devices connecting via the range extender's WiFi. Conversely, if you plug an Ethernet cable in the bottom, it's almost as fast as plugging directly into the router. This was a first look at a replacement. Suddenly, I had a problem or an issue - although Belkin customer service had no idea of the details. If they had spent as much time troubleshooting as they did reaching out, I might have given this device more of a chance. Instead, they became a nuisance. I stand by my previous entry into this review and can assuredly say that this device extends your range at a performance cost - one that defeats the stated purpose of the device. It will provide the coverage, range, and the speed - but at a significant price point. I went with the Linksys Velop 3-pack, and haven't looked back.Yes, both are terrible. It gets unbelievably hot to the touch, which you’ll find out pretty quickly because it goes offline so fast, you’ll need to unplug or adjust it’s antennas. It spends most of its time with blinking yellow lights, until I unplug it and replug it in, that’s an indication of a weak connection. It then briefly goes to solid blue (normal connection) then soon back to blinking. It’s never worked “good” but even it’s weak signal allows one of my wireless cams to connect, so I need it for now. I took someone’s word on a review, that it was a good product, I should have kept reading. Next time I’ll buy one local, at least then it’ll be easier to return if needed. And one reviewer was correct in saying there were no accompanying setup instructions, I looked online too.It works great, absolutely fantastic. However, I reached over to adjust it in the outlet and it was so hot to the touch it nearly burned me. I thought hey ok, maybe it's a faulty outlet right. That can happen, it's an old house, let's plug it into a different one. This time I plugged it into a surge protector on the other end of the house in an outlet that I know the outlet, the wiring, and the switches had been replaced less than a month ago, because like I said, old house right. Not even half an hour later, touched it, and it nearly burned me. The boosted internet is just not worth my house burning down.Used my iPhone. Extended both networks massively in the 'dead spot's that were there before install. I measured it with a thermal thermometer and it was 118-120 degrees. That's not good! 2. Intermittent. Sometimes, for no reason, it goes off line (yellow light).I figured it was defective and returned it. Got another one. It also did not work. It is possible that I am just unable to set it up, but I am pretty technical. On the 2nd one, I spent a bunch of time on the internet trying to learn how to make it work. Belkin really has not technical support. They said someone from Belkin support would call me soon. They did. They asked to take over my PC remotely which I let them do. They went around and said there were too many applications running on IP address and that nothing will be allowed to connect to internet service. They said that they could remove those and make it allow me to hook up the Belkin, but that I would need to buy a firewall software to make it work. Instead a bought a new router from TP link that has twice the range of my existing one.En deballant je constate que la prise n'est pas du type Europeen C, mais USA, type A. Barking to alert could potentially draw enemy fire, so if the dogs found a wounded man, they knew to pull off a piece of cloth or a loose helmet and carry it back to their handlers so a rescue attempt could be made. The handler would then leash the dog and follow as the dog led him back to the wounded man. They were so incredibly well-trained and so committed to their task that these dogs weren’t deterred or distracted by the offer of food or company. They saved many soldiers, though perhaps not as many Americans as they might have — the United States was woefully behind other countries in utilizing dogs during WWI and had to make do by borrowing the medic dogs of their allies. It’s estimated that there were upwards of 10,000 Red Cross dogs used during WWI, and they’re credited with saving thousands of lives over the course of the war. One of the more comprehensive books about this time was drafted by Sgt. Theo F. Jager, titled Scout, Red Cross and Army Dogs: A Historical Sketch of Dogs in the Great War and a Training Guide for the Rank and File of the United States Army. Presently a dark form bounded from the German trenches, rushed to Lieutenant von Wieland’s side, grasped his coat between his teeth and, foot by foot, dragged him to safety. Once, but only for a moment, did he loosen his hold, and that was when a bullet creased him from shoulder to flank. The blood gushed from the wound, but the dog took a fresh hold and finished his job at the edge of the trench where willing hands lifted the lieutenant down to safety. They had to lift the dog down, too, because just then a bullet broke both his forelegs. I can’t speak to its authenticity, but it’s fascinating to watch. They were trained to search the battlefield or in the trenches and pick out who among the men were wounded who were dead. They had to lift the dog down, too, because just then a bullet broke both his forelegs. I can’t speak to its authenticity, but it’s fascinating to watch. Lucky didn’t tell his own story for the project. Lucky left no letters or diaries, and no photo exists of him. In fact, the only remaining physical reminder of his service is an Honorable Discharge certificate. Yet after hearing Lucky’s story, it’s difficult to forget this quiet soldier who did his duty and was rewarded with nothing more than three pounds of food a day. Lucky was one of the many dogs that have served in the military alongside human handlers. Lucky served during World War II, but recent interest in World War I, the 100th anniversary of which is ongoing throughout the next few years, has resulted in a number of features and exhibits about war dogs generally. One such exhibit is at the Bishops Gate Institute in London, from which photographs were featured in the Washington Post. The Veterans History Project and the Library of Congress have a number of items relating to the history of dogs at war — including Lucky’s story. They were known as “war dogs,” “devil dogs,” “scout dogs,” and “Red Cross dogs,” but in every war, they have always been known as a soldier’s most trusted companion. Corporal Richard Wolfe, a Vietnam veteran who served with a Military Police Scout and Sentry Dog company, expressed the special relationship between soldier and dog in this way: “It was a friend, it was actually your eyes and ears.” By warning of imminent attacks and alerting to hidden enemies, scout dogs like Lucky saved lives and improved morale. Many years later Walton gave an interview to the Veterans History Project in which he related stories he had heard from Lucky’s unnamed handler about the dog’s exploits in the Pacific Theater. Walton remarked that Lucky and his handler never had to dig a foxhole: “The other Marines dug two extra holes. They wanted Lucky right with them.” After a battle ended, the dog would be deployed to seek out the wounded on the battlefield, as described in Theodore F. Jager’s 1917 training guide, Scout, Red Cross and Army Dogs: They are taught to disregard dead soldiers. Each dog has a box containing first aid remedies and appliances tied to its neck.Walton relates that Lucky’s handler would sleep with his hand resting under the dog’s neck so that an inaudible vibration, instead of a bark, would warn him of an impending enemy sneak attack. By way of comparison, in 1917, Jager’s training manual recommended using a dog whip and a spiked “gag” collar to train the animal.Captain William Putney, who was responsible for training and, later, detraining the dogs used in World War II, describes a system whereby handler and dog trained as one. Beginning on the day they were assigned their dog, handlers worked so closely with their animal that they were effectively one entity. Every grueling physical test the handler went through, including live fire exercises, the dog went through right beside him. Because a dog handler often cannot speak while in the field, the dog had to become familiar with hand signals and low, almost inaudible whistles, as commands. The handlers also had the responsibility for feeding and caring for their dog and, in short, bonding with it. A playful photo in the Garth Redmond collection of Redmond reading a book to a scout dog named Duke also attests to the close relationship these men formed with their animals. The unnamed soldier who worked with Lucky during the war wrote the Waltons often, and when the war came to a close, he wrote to them several times begging them to let him keep the dog. Tough as it was to tell him no, Donald Walton responded to the young man’s request by saying that just as this soldier was going home to his family after discharge, Lucky needed to come home to his family. When asked whether he kept his dog after his tour was over, he says, Because he had saved my life, and a lot of other people’s lives. To have to leave him there was a sad, sad thing to do. Despite the fact that after World War II Captain Putney had demonstrated that dogs like Lucky could be detrained and returned to civilian life, the military disregarded that lesson in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. In the late 1990s, Putney himself successfully lobbied Congress and the President for an end to the practice of euthanizing dogs, regardless of the state of their health, after their service was over. Thus in our 21st century wars, soldiers who work with dogs do have the opportunity to detrain and adopt their animal. His reintroduction to civilian life was by all accounts successful, although Walton still had to be warned about the triggers that might prompt Lucky to attack. In his interview, Walton recounts many humorous and poignant stories of Lucky’s adventures after he returned home, such as the fact that Lucky always had to greet and inspect a soldier in uniform, as if searching for his handler. Lucky lived a long life for a German Shepherd. He was 14 when he died at home circa 1953, far away from the dangerous Pacific islands where he had risked his life years before. Brassey’s, Inc., Washington, D.C., 2001. While here we have a story of the US doing the same... though the program was not directed toward humans.
