Gernella 5.0 out of 5 stars It is my camera of choice for my handbag, ever ready and easy to use. It certainly isn't for the 'expert' photographer who wants to mess around with the controls, few that there are. If you want to get the camera out, zoom or whatever and click away, this is for you. I have never taken a bad photograph with it. Best part about it nowadays is that it has a viewfinder. Looking for a replacement recently I was appalled to find that unless you went large and certainly not handbag size, you were stuck with just a screen. Using the viewfinder reduces wear on the battery and avoids taking shots that you can't see because of the sun. The screen is quite bright when you do want to view your pictures. Some of these older cameras might not have the large pixels, which are a bit of a ploy to lure you in to buy, but are much better cameras. There's not much else to tell if you are just a happy snapper, it does what it says on the tin. I must admit I am a Kodak fan though and now have a stable of five all still working although the oldest will soon be going to the charity shopI consider myself to be a 'happy amateur' who, at the end of the day, just needs a camera which is going to take great pictures, using a camera which is easy to use. I am not too bothered about a lot of the techie detail - just give me good pictures!! Up until recently, I had a Canon IXUS APS camera, but like many people I was wanting to 'go digital'. My budget for the camera was about ?250, as I decided that I really don't need lots of the fancy extras you can get (and ultimately pay for) with some of the more expensive models. After getting demos of them all, I decided to go for this one, and I am so glad that I did!! This is a fantastic camera and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. The highlights are: (1) 4 Mega Pixel resolution is a bonus for this price, and pictures are really clear at a large size(2) 4x Optical Zoom - be careful about this - I nearly went for a camera with 2x and it DOES makes a lot of difference (3) Ease of use - within 10 minutes, both my wife and I were both taking pictures without even getting near the instructions (4) Strangely, having a camera which is larger than a credit card is actually nice - you can see what is going on much easier. Other points of note: the camera takes SD cards; it comes with the Kodak EasyShare software; it takes AA batteries (get good rechargeable ones). All in all, go for it. An excellent camera with the functions you need for a great price.I did a LOT of research into which camera I actually wanted to buy and this one kept coming up as highly recommended. I checked it out in Jessops, to see if I liked the look and feel and I did, so I came back to Amazon, as I had found that they offered the best price of anywhere I could find. Bad points (minor only): - the battery door and the card storage door are plastic and rather flimsy, as long as you are careful they should be fine, but I personally think Kodak have let themselves down on the build for the doors. - I was taking photos in a dark club the other night, I was hoping for some great shots as it was an 80's fancy dress party. On the whole the shots were very good, but most of them suffered from red-eye. Okay, maybe I should have switched that anti red-eye option on, but I was dashing around clicking and didn't think - drat! - wrist strap only on the camera. I would have liked a neck strap, as it means I have to take my camera out of its bag every time I want to take a photo, with a neck strap I could snap away much more quickly. Good points (the list is endless): - excellent look and feel, not a tiny camera that you can (and I have!!) put your thumb over the lense by mistake. Comfy to hold and just the right weight. - photo quality is excellent. I wouldn't say buy this camera if you want to take movies, if you're really into that then get a camcorder. However this camera will take great little clips that you can email to friends or pop onto a website - bear in mind though that the movie option doesn't have a flash and you can't zoom in and out during filming. To be honest the list of good points is endless. You will see loads of positive things reported about this camera - believe them and go out and buy it, I did and I haven't been disappointed for a minute! Aranda 5.0 out of 5 stars I bought this camera on a whim. You also get nice features with this, such as night shots, portraits, sports, close ups, landscape. The rechargebale batteries that came with never keep a charge, so I started buying batteries. They did nto last long in this camera either. No fix for it as far as I know. I would definitely look for other cameras before buying this one. Also, I never did quite realize how much of a pain carrying around a bulky camera is. It is very bulky.Other than that, it is an OK camera.
