Input Mapping Modify IN n assignment ensuring that input is not assigned to more than one element. If you are using CWE 4-630, you must modify the 50P1P or 50P2P setting below its saturation current to ensure proper protection. If you are using CWE 4-630, you must modify the LRA1 or LRA2 setting below its saturation current to ensure proper protection. ASCII Serial Port Operation Introduction The serial por t interface provides an efficient way to communicate with the relay using a PC to review and enter the settings, ac cess metering data, review self-test stat us, retrieve event summaries, and obtain motor operating statistics repor ts.T o ensure the PC communicates cor rectly with the relay, configure the ter minal emulation software connection proper ties to match the relay serial port configura tion. Configure the ter minal emulatio n software to matc h the default settings shown in T able 4.2. F or the best display, use VT -100 ter minal emulation. If VT -100 is not av ailab le, WYSE-100 and ANSI ter minal emulations also work.Set the Baud Rate, Data Bits, Par ity, and Stop Bits s e ttings to mat ch th e serial por t configuration of th e equipment that is communicating with the serial port. After P or t Timeout minutes of inactivity on a serial port at Access Lev el 2, the por t automatically retur ns to Access Level 1. This security feature helps prevent unauthorized access to the relay settings if the relay is accidentally left in Access Level 2. If y ou do not want the por t to time out, set Timeout equal to 0 minute s. Using T erminal Commands When you type commands at th e ter minal emulation window, type either the entire command or just use the first three letters, e.g., the following commands instr uct the relay to display metering data: Type METER (or MET) and press Enter. Use upper - or low er-case characters when typing commands; how ever, passw ord entr y is case sensitiv e. T able 4.5 lists user commands that the rela y accepts at the EIA-232 serial por t. The re lay serial port uses software f low control, meaning that character transmission is co ntrolled by receipt of X ON and X OFF characters. W hen the relay receiv es the XOFF c haracter during transmission, it pauses until it receiv es an XON c haracter. If a message is not in progress when the relay receiv es the XOFF c haracter, it bloc ks transmission of a message presented to its buffer. Messag es are t ransmitted after the relay receiv es the XON character.T o resume the transmission, use the X ON character. Serial Port Access Levels Issue commands to the relay via the front serial por t, e.g., to view metering values or c hang e the relay settings. R e fer to T able 4.5 av ailable serial por t commands. Access thes e commands o nly from the corresponding acce ss level, as listed in the tab le. This is referred to as Access Leve l 0. The only command available at Access Lev el 0 is the A CC command (see T able 4.5). T ype ACC at the Acce ss Level 0 prompt an d then press Enter. The ACC command takes the rela y to Access Level 1. Access Level 1 The Access Level 1 commands primarily allow y ou to view infor mation (such as settings and metering) but no t to change settings. T ype 2AC at the prompt and then press Enter to take the rela y to Access Lev el 2. Access Level 2 The Access Level 2 commands primarily allow y ou to change relay settings, reset data buff ers, and con trol relay outputs. If left in Access Level 2, the serial por t automatically retur ns to Access Level 1 after a settable inactivity period.The commands are shown in upper-case letters, but they can also be entered with low er-case letters.See P ASSW ORD (Level 1 or 2) on page 4-11 for infor mation on Access Lev el 1 and Access Level 2 passw ord protection. The relay sets the SALAR M R elay W ord bit for one second after a successful mov e to Access Level 2. ANALOG (Level 2) Use the ANALOG p t command to test the relay analog cur rent output. Y ou can also use the AN ALOG command to generate a cur rent sig nal that increases linearly. Replace the fixed perc enta ge value with an R to ramp the signal from zero to full scale o ver time. For ex ample, th e command AN A R 10 instr ucts the relay to ramp the analog si gnal from zero to full scale, reaching full scale in 10 min utes. Stop the test by pressing a k eyboard character k ey or the space bar. METER (Level 1 or 2) The METER commands pro vide ac cess to the relay metering data. The relay divides the displ ayed infor mation into two groups: Note: All ASCII command responses in this section are examples only. F or delta-connected P Ts, a n g l e s a r e r e f e r e n c e d t o V A B o r L1 and for wye-connec ted PT s angles are referenced to V AN or L1. If the voltage channels are not suppor ted, or V AB r delta) or V AN ced to L1 cur rent. This com mand also shows the av erag e motor cur rent (x I e ), the present Ther mal Capacity used, an d the RTD Ther mal Capacity (i f ambient and winding temperatures are monitored and a winding RTD trip temperature is set). If the motor is in ov erload, this comma nd response shows the calculated time to a ther mal t rip. If the motor is not in overload (e.g., see Figure 4.4), the time shown is 9999 seconds.P ASSWORD (Level 1 or 2) Note: This device is shipped with Access Level 1 and Access Level 2 passw ord protection disabled. Access Lev el 1 and Access Level 2 passw ord protection must be restored at in stallati on. Failure to install Access Lev el 1 and Access Level 2 priv ate passw o rds could allow unauthorized access. The Access Level 2 PA S command allows you to inspect or change the existing passw ord. T o inspect the Access Lev el 1 and Access Level 2 passw ords, typ e PAS and then press Enter. The relay displays the present passwords. The factor y ships the relay with the passw ords disabled. F or example, to c h ange the passw ord for Access Level 2 to BIKE, t ype PA S 2 BIKE and then press Enter. After entering the new passw ord, type PAS and then press Enter to inspect it. If the passwo rd is cor rect, record it fo r future reference. If you make three incor rect password guesses, access is denie d and the SALARM R elay W ord bit is set for one second. The password can include up to eight characters. V alid characters consist of all printable characters from the 7-bit ASCII set t ypically found on the PC keyboard. The space character is not included. Strong passw ords consist of eight chara cters, with at least one special chara cter or digit and mixed-case sensitivity, but do not for m a name, date, acronym, or wo rd. P asswords formed in this manner are less susceptible to password guessing and auto mated attac ks. QUIT (Level 1 or 2) The QUI command returns the relay to Ac cess Level 0 from either Access Leve l 1 or Access Lev el 2. SER (Level 1 or 2) Use the SER command to view the Serialized E v ents Recording (SER) repor t, described in detail in Chap ter 7: Analyzing Ev ents. Each ev ent record is store d with a re cord n umber, a date, and a time. Y ou can access SER data b y record n umber or by date. T he most recent record is alwa y s record number 1. The various SER command options are sho wn in Ta b l e 4. 6. The date entries used with the SER command are de pendent on the Date F or mat setting. If the requested SER reco rds do not exist, the re lay displa ys the messag e No SER Data. SER R or C (Level 1 and 2) The SER R or SER C command remov es the SER data from nonv olatile memory. If it is not, an Out of Range messa ge is g enerated, and the relay prompts you for the setting again. When all the settings are entered, t h e relay displa ys the new se ttings and prompts you for approv al to enable them. T ype Y and then press Enter to enable the new settings. The relay is disabled for as long as fi ve seconds while it sav es the new settings. The SALARM R elay W ord bit is set momentaril y and the ENABLE LED extinguishes while the rela y is disabled. STR (Level 2) The STR ( ST ART ) command initiates a motor star t using the relay's internal logic.An example ev ent summary re port is in Figure 4.9. Each ev ent summar y repor t shows the date, time, cur rent magnitudes (p rimar y v alues) and, if the relay has the v oltage option, voltage magn itudes (primar y values). Y ou can append a setting name to eac h of the commands to specif y the first setting to display (e.g., SHO 50P1P displa ys the relay settings star ting with setting 50P1P). The default is the first setting. The SHO W command displays only the enab led settings. SHO P Show front serial port settings.When you issue the SET command, the relay presents a list of settings one at a time. Enter a new setting or press to acc ept the existing se tting. Editing keystrok es are listed in T able 4.17. The relay checks each entry to ensure that the entry is within the setting range. If it is not in range, an Out of Range message is g enerated, and the relay prompts yo u for the setting again. When all the settings are entered, th e relay displays the new settings and prompts you for approv al to enab le them. T ype Y and then press Enter to enable the new se ttings. T he relay is disabled for as lo ng as 5 seconds while it sav es the new settings. T he ALARM Relay W ord bit is set mo mentarily and the Enable LED extinguishes while the relay is disabled. The relay also r uns interde pendency checks betw een some parameters. If it detects a configuration er ror between pa rameters a message is displa yed and the user is prompted to change settings to eliminate er ror before settings can be sav ed.
