Make sure the liftgate is closed and latched before driving away.However, because the gas pressure drops with temperature, it may be necessary to assist the props when opening the liftgate in cold weather.The belt webbing retractor is designed to lock during very sudden stops or collisions. This feature allows the shoulder part of the belt to move freely with you under normal conditions. You might suffer internal injuries, or you could even slide out of part of the belt.To remove slack in the lap belt portion, pull up on the shoulder belt. To loosen the lap belt if it is too tight, tilt the latch plate and pull on the lap belt. Inspect the belt system periodically, checking for cuts, frays, or loose parts. Damaged parts must be replaced immediately. Do not disassemble or modify the system.Pretensioners are designed to work for all size occupants. NOTE: These devices are not a substitute for proper seat belt or front passenger to buckle their seat belt. The driver should also instruct all other occupants to buckle their seat belts.Keeping the mother safe is the best way to keep the baby safe. Pregnant women should wear the lap part of the belt across the thighs and as snug across the hips as possible.You may damage the airbags and you could be injured. See the section on Child Restraint. You should read the instructions provided with your child restraint to make sure that you are using it properly. Phone numbers are provided in the If You Need Customer Assistance section in this manual.The airbags fully inflate in about 50-70 milliseconds. This is about signals the inflators on the crash side of the vehicle. A quantity of nontoxic gas is generated to inflate the window bag. To increase the support, rotate the handle down.Second Row Seat Release StrapAlways be sure the seats are fully latched.If the head restraint contacts the rear of the front seat, move the front seat forward on its tracks.To remove the seat, squeeze each release handle and rotate downwards to deploy the wheels. A lock indicator button pops up when the seat is unlocked. The floor supports the partial weight of the bagged goods.The 3rd row bench seat is in the full forward position on the tracks and one or both of the rear seatbacks are folded down.Both seatbacks are in the upright position. NOTE: Driving with the 2nd row seats in the tumbled position is not recommended when passengers occupy the 3rd row seats.Then the third row seats can be installed in either the rear or middle seat position. The sunshade cannot be closed if the sunroof is open.Never allow fingers or other body parts, or any object to project through the sunroof opening.The arms of the cupholder can be adjusted in or out without damaging the detent mechanism.There are also dual underseat cupholders for the 2nd seat passengers.To reinstall the cell phone holder, align the pivot legs into the guides and push forward to snap the legs into place.The nets are supported by hooks located in these areas. Refer to instructions provided in the net kit. This line indicates how far rearward cargo can be placed without interfering with liftgate closing. Maintain your cassette tape player. CLIMATE CONTROLS The Air Conditioning and Heating System is designed to make you comfortable in all types of weather. Manual Air Conditioning and Heating System. Front Blower Control The Front Blower Control selects whether the Climate Control System is ON or OFF.Air comes from the outlets in the instrument panel. Each of these outlets can be individually adjusted to direct the flow of air. Moving the air vane knob on the center outlets down, will close off the air flow from the center outlets.Air comes from both the instrument panel outlets, floor outlets and defrost. A slight amount of air is also directed through the side window demister outlets.Mix Mode. Floor Outlets. Mix Outlets. Air comes from the floor outlets. To provide you with maximum comfort in the automatic mode, during cold start-ups the blower fan will remainManual Operation This system offers a full complement of manual override features.Air comes from the outlets in the instrument panel.Air comes from both the instrument panel outlets, floor outlets and defrost. REAR WINDOW FEATURES Intermittent Rear Wiper Operation - Manual Temperature Control Only The controls are located on the Manual Temperature Control head above the front blower control.Press and hold the button for as long as spray is desired.A light will show that the defroster is on. The defroster automatically turns off after about 10 minutes of operation.This could result in flash fire causing serious personal injury.Wait 10 to 15 seconds before trying again. This type of start can be dangerous if done improperly. See section 6 of this manual for the proper jump starting procedures and follow them carefully.It has a removable cap that is located on the driver side of the Integrated Power Module.Four Speed Automatic Transmission The electronically controlled transmission provides a precise shift schedule. This Reset feature allows the vehicle to be driven to a dealer for service without damaging the transmission. This is done to prevent transmission damage due to overheating. Also be certain to leave an automatic transmission in Park, a manual transmission in Reverse or first gear.The parking brake should always be applied whenever the driver is not in the vehicle. This interference can cause possible loss of anti-lock braking capability. Installation of such equipment should be performed by qualified professionals. All vehicle wheels and tires must be the same size and type and tires must be properly inflated to produce accurate signals for the computer. A feature of the TCS system functions similar to a limited slip differential and controls the wheel spin across a driven axle. NOTE: Increased noise levels at the end of the steering wheel travel are considered normal and do not indicate that there is a problem with the power steering system.Service should be obtained as soon as possible. TIRE SAFETY INFORMATION Tire MarkingsTire and Loading Information. Tire Placard Location. Tread Wear Indicators Tread wear indicators are in the original equipment tires to help you in determining when your tires should be replaced. These indicators are molded into the bottom of the tread grooves.Use only the tire and wheel sizes with load ratings approved for your vehicle.Chains must be the proper size on all four tires. Do not drive for prolonged period on dry pavement. If you need snow tires, select tires equivalent in size and type to the original equipment tires. Section of this manual. More frequent rotation is permissible if desired. The reasons for any rapid or unusual wear should be corrected prior to rotation being performed. Sensors, mounted to each wheel as part of the valve stem, transmit tire pressure readings to the Receiver Module. NOTE: The trailer tongue weight must be considered as part of the combined weight of occupants and cargo, and should never exceed the weight referenced on the Tire and Loading Information placard. Refer to the Tire- Safety Information Section in this manual. Failure to load trailers heavier in front is the cause of many trailer accidents. Never exceed the maximum tongue weight stamped on your bumper or trailer hitch. Also, additional factory-installed options, or dealer-installed options, must be considered as part of the total load on your vehicle. Always connect the chains to the frame or hook retainers of the vehicle hitch. Replacing tires with a higher load carrying capacity will not increase the vehicle's GVWR and GAWR limits. The Trailer Tow Package may include a 4 and 7 pin wiring harness.The electrical connections are all complete to the vehicle but you must mate the harness to a trailer connector. Refer to the following illustrations.The automatic transmission fluid and filter should be changed if you REGULARLY tow a trailer for more than 45 minutes of continuous operation.To engage the Hazard Warning Flashers, depress the switch on the instrument panel. If you decide to look under the hood yourself, see Section 7, Maintenance, of this manual. Follow the warnings under the Cooling System Pressure Cap paragraph.Remove the scissors jack and jack handle by rotating the small wing nut to the left. Also remove the tool pouch containing the spare tire winch handle tools, which is located next to the jack and jack handle. Jack LocationNever get any part of your body under a vehicle that is on a jack. If you need to get under a raised vehicle, take it to a service center where it can be raised on a lift. Squeezing Winch Retainer TabsThen pull the wheel off the hub. 9. Install the compact spare tire. Lightly tighten the lug nuts.Correct pressure as required. Always stow the compact spare tire with the cover assembly in the place provided.Do not attempt to use the Winch to stow the Full Size 'Flat' Tire, or any other Full Size Tire. Push against the tire several times to be sure it is securely in place. 13. Stow the flush contaminated area immediately with large quantities of water. A battery generates hydrogen gas which is flammable and explosive.If a light or bright colored dot is visible in the indicator (if equipped), DO NOT jump-start the battery.The resulting electrical spark could cause the battery to explode. During cold weather when temperatures are below freezing point, electrolyte in a discharged battery may freeze. A tire could explode and injure someone. Exceeding these towing limits may cause a transmission geartrain failure. If it is necessary to use the accessories while being towed (wipers, defrosters, etc.), the key must be in the an automatic transmission, is only permitted within the limitations described in this section.Immediate service is required.If the problem persists, the message be ready. The OBD system may not be ready if your vehicle was recently serviced, if you recently had a dead battery, or a battery replacement. Service Manuals are available which include detailed service information for your vehicle. Refer to these manuals before attempting any procedure yourself.Contact your dealer, service station, or governmental agency for advice on service. Mopar Engine Oil Filters are a high quality oil filter and are recommended. Spark Plugs Spark plugs must fire properly to assure engine performance and emission control. New plugs should be installed at the specified mileage. In the event of engine malfunction, particularly involving engine misfire or other apparent loss of performance, have your vehicle serviced promptly.Battery gas is flammable and explosive. Keep flame or sparks away from the battery.Battery posts, terminals and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds. Wash hands after handling. This service should include cleaning of the costly repairs. Power Steering - Fluid Check Checking the power steering fluid level at a defined service interval is not required. With a clean cloth, wipe any spilled fluid from all surfaces. Refer to Fluids, Lubricants, and Genuine Parts for correct fluid type. Front Suspension Ball Joints The front suspension ball joints are permanently sealed. Prior to the application of any lubricant, the parts concerned should be wiped clean to remove dust and grit; after lubricating latching components to insure proper function.It is located in the engine compartment and should be checked for fluid level at regular intervals. Open seams or loose connections could permit exhaust fumes to seep into the passenger compartment. Breathing it can make you unconscious and can eventually poison you. Cooling SystemPlease review these recommendations for using Hybrid Organic Additive Technology (HOAT) coolant. Advise your service attendant of this. As long as the engine operating temperature is satisfactory, the coolant bottle need only be checked once a month. If replacement is ever necessary, install ONLY the correct type thermostat. Other designs may result in unsatisfactory coolant performance, poor gas mileage, and increased emissions. You are urged to use only the manufactures-specified tubes, connections and clamps, or their equivalent in material and specification, in any fuel system servicing. Brakes In order to assure brake system performance, all brake system components should be inspected periodically. NOTE: Inspection of brake hoses should be performed whenever the brake system is serviced and every engine oil change. Inspect hydraulic brake hoses for surface cracking, scuffing, or worn spots.Care should be taken in recommended transmission fluid, refer to Fluids, Lubricants and Genuine Parts for correct fluid type.
