Well written and explanatory at starter level.I learned very little I didn't already know. Oh, and it does NOT contain the basic cheat codes.I mean, how much could there be to a computer game. So as you can imagine, I was surprised when I pulled out a thick, 366 page book that broke down everything you could ever need to know (and more) about The Sims 2 into sections, explaining and describing everything, in detail, from Sim genetics, pre-made neighborhoods and the pre-made families that inhabit them, NPCs, Sim memories, Sim death, building a house.Even if you're just a casual player. I assure you, your Sim gaming experience will be much better.http://ehconsultores.com/userfiles/dectron-service-manual.xml

The only regret I have is not having this book around when I first started playing TS2.You can tell from just the front of the book that it only covers the base game. And being that it was released when the base game came out, there's no way it could've covered the other games.I have checked with Amazon customer service and they are as curious as I was after receiving this title. The listing indicates a 2007 copy right for the revised edition and it comes at 368 pages. If you compare covers of the standard edition and this one - they are identical, no flag or starburt logo saying anything about Nightlife being included. Also, this book retains ONLY a 2004 copyright, no revision or second edition update to 2007. Also, compare the standard guide and the Nightlife guide: the std edition is 368 pages and Nightlife is 244. It is impossible to have jammed those two books together to make a Revised Edition still with only 368 pages. I understand they can change typeface, font size and add overall content compression, but at best you'd only save a portion of original mass. This does not seem to be a fault solely of Amazon.ca - I have checked the Amazon.com site, a competing Canadian online book seller's site, and Prima's own page. And they all show the standard edition coverart and page count, but note 2007 copyright and that it is supposed to be two original guides in one. If there is any doubt on the basic info above, opening the book yields not one iota of Nightlife mention. It appears to be just the original contents guide. I still find it hard to believe this would not at least add some additional pages. While I have no original guide to compare it with side by side, I did check the ISBN number and it does show a different number than the original guide, and that new number is correctly (I assume, unless the info is flawed elsewhere) displayed on this listing. Checking various forums also yielded many similar findings.http://www.elektroserviscz.cz/files/dectron-ds-manual.xml He did not elaborate however, if it was a total separate section of the guide or incorporated into the main text. Which brings us right back to the title for this review: Buyer Beware If you want a basic get started guide to Sims 2, then this is still the way to go as it seems the original guide is no longer available from this site. If you are happy with the possibility (as I can not prove absolutely without all three guides in front of me: std ed, rev ed, and Nightlife stand-alone) of no obvious Nightlife content inside this book, then you also have nothing to lose for this price point. But if you insist on and need Nightlife content, you should be prepared to spend additional money buying the stand-alone guide if you discover this one lacking what you were looking for. I may take the advice of the rep that helped me and check a local book store just to see if they carry all the editions and then compare them there. Amazon.ca can rest assured that if I do so, any purchase will still be made through this sight. And if I find my review post - with further research - to be faulty, I will delete or ammend my review. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness. Please try again later. Having read the reviews and owning all the major expansion packs I decided to go for this one mainly because of the two for one deal. I have been amazed the amount of information it has been able to give me even though I have been playing for so long. The tips on personalities and careers etc I have found useful. I have really been able to maximize the game play. In the past I have always been doubtful whether guides were worth there money or was just a gimmick. But having now got the Sims University guide I would recommend it (but only if you don't have the first one). I am now considering buying others and discovering what other treats I have been missing. This guide does the trick. I now have a clear understanding of the various levels of the careers within the game.http://www.jfvtransports.com/home/content/boss-dr-55-manual-0 How to achieve these levels and what level will be next. There is also a comprehensive listing of all the objects content within the game. This helps gamers understand how these ojects affect their Sims. I have read this guide cover to cover at least three times. Each time I read it, I become more and more knowledgeable of the ins and outs of The Sims2. I recommend this guide to anyone who wants to maximize their Sims2 gaming experience.I didn't know much about the game and I needed a little help. I bought mine used and I'm glad I did. The book is a huge help for the game but it's awfully small. The print inside the book is so small I have to squint to see the print. The book is a huge help but reading the print can hurt your eyes because it's so small. I'd still buy it again because the info inside really helped me when I first bought the game. Bottom line is if need help understanding how this version works buy it. If you don't like squinting to read then find something else. There is a lot of information though and it is difficult to find the answer to any one particular question without going through page after page. Perhaps with more use I will be able to find what I need quickly. Otherwise it would have been five stars. This book helped quite a bit, although I think the writing would be a bit confusing for younger players. It gives good tips and strategies as well as some known and some not known cheats. It made the game more enjoyable.I never played the original, but it doesn't make assumptions and does explain where things are managed differently from in the original game. I am perfectly well aware that you can probably find most if not all of the information here on the Internet, but it is useful to have illustrated examples and to have everything to hand.http://www.btrcontrols.com/images/8330-blackberry-manual.pdf My only criticism, and hence the loss of one star, is that there is no contents page or index, so although it is divided into Chapters with sub headings, you still have to hunt about a bit if there's something you particularly wanted to look up. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness. The guides are of a quality of which would be given away FREE with computer magazines, which is to say, very poor paper, extremely hard to read. Although the size is given for the guides, no mention is made of an easily understandable size, eg. A4, A5. The fact that the guides are printed in black and white is not mentioned either. After looking at the Prima site ref.I think that Amazon should print a warning that these guides are only useful if your vision is over 100 perfect. This product is not recommended, and definitely not up to Amazon's usual high standards!!However, if you are like me and are still struggling to create a werewolf, and have difficulties in other aspects of the game, then these books prove to be quite useful. I would not necessarily read them all the way through, but like a dictionary these books provide useful explainations to the games and add ons.I think they are ok, but alot of the details were provided in the game itself and the ones that weren't could easily be found online.I was very disappointed with this item; subsequently I returned it straight away. The guides are slightly bigger than A5 size and the print quality is awful. It looks as if someone whipped these up quick on a cheap photocopier and put a glossy cover on it to disguise it. I'm sure the guides themselves are brilliant but I never even looked at the content as the quality of the product was so bad. I thought this would be a good way to get all the Prima Guides at as low a price as possible but I think I'll just save and buy them individually or second hand. Packaging: With the new stylized box art and mass-market trim size, this box set is dressed to impress. I also have a set of the original guides for Sims 1. That's why I thought this set was such a bargain. I started playing Sims 2 around the time Seasons came out so I felt like they would come in handy. In hindsight (had I known what I was buying!), I might have looked for a bargain price on the larger manuals, used, on ebay. The print and the pictures are crisp and clear, as you would expect on this type of paper. In the case of the set, they are the size of a romance novel, printed on paperback paper -- and are sold them at a bargain price (compared to the cost of 7 true Prima Guides). The problem is that the print is teeny and, printed on this sort of paper, it's sort of blurry. You might need to have a magnifying glass to read them. By the way, there is no index in them so it's a matter of browsing around to find what you are looking for. This becomes a challenge when the print is so small! What's good about Prima Guides though is that there is a good deal of helpful information in there and it's handy if you are in a hurry for an answer. Personally, I like the bigger guides better but you don't really have to have them to play the game. I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't need or use them.:o). These guides have the same information as the large books at a bargain price and, if you are on a budget or just too cheap (says the person who bought the little ones!) to buy the big ones, they can certainly be of value. Just a case of buyer beware -- know what you are buying and decide what you can afford. The information is in there. That is excellent, however, the print is reduced to a degree that a magnifying glass is a MUST. Careers: Stats and tutorials for every career path in the Sims universe. They normally feature in-depth walkthroughs to completing the game and the characters. To date, guides have been released for The Sims, The Sims 2 and The Sims 3.Guides for The Sims 2 were written by Greg Kramer. It was then announced that the (much shorter) guide for Generations would only be available as part of a boxed set containing pocket-sized versions of all four previous game guides and a guide to the forthcoming Pets expansion, and which would also include an item catalogue listing the contents of the first four stuff packs ( High-End Loft Stuff, Fast Lane Stuff, Outdoor Living Stuff and Town Life Stuff ), making this the only occasion when Stuff Packs were given official guides. With The Sims 3: Pets Prima resumed releasing separate, print copy editions of guides for each expansion pack, continuing with Showtime and Supernatural. However, the print release of the guide for The Sims 3: Seasons was cancelled shortly before the expected publication date, and the guides for Seasons and University Life were released in eBook format only. Prima later announced that there would be no separate guide to Island Paradise (similar to the earlier case with Generations ), and there has been no official comment on whether they will release a guide for Into the Future, although since the publication of the guide has normally been timed to coincide with the release of the game this now seems unlikely. From Nightlife onwards this was reduced to a brief (one- or two-page) chapter on the basic features of the base game and features carried forward from previous expansions. It is not unknown for details to change between the time a guide goes to press and the time a title is released, so the information in a Prima guide is not always 100 accurate. Our library is the biggest of these that have literally hundreds of thousands of different products represented.
