The accruals conce pt states that the resources used to generate revenue income are accounted for rather than the money spent to acquire those Depreciation is the apportioning of the cost of a non-current asset over its useful life. However, some assets may go up in value over time; they must also be depreciated since they are used to generate benefits to the business.
