Did they all come with a recoil backup? That's what I did with a 70 I fixed up for the local clubs raffle. The older white engines were MUCH better engines. I also think the white motor might have been a short block replacement. Look for a little metal tag on the same side of the motor as the carb. If it has one it should list what it is. I find that that 7 hp Tecumseh engine is hard to find or get parts for. I have managed to accumulate 3 extra ones for use or parts. I'll probably repaint it when I strip it down to repaint the rest of the machine.As for colors, the original would have been black and would have been a cast iron block. The replacement short blocks would have been white and aluminum. Look on the blower housing of the motor, just above the carb as said earlier. You should find an engine spec and model number stamped there. They were always cast iron. The 70's never had recoil starters. The unique thing about these engines was the step down shoulder and two sizes on the crank output shaft. The 70 was the VH70. The 60 was solid mounted, the 70's engine was rubber mounted. I think there were three versions of 70's. The last version had two pedals, the clutch and brake were separated. I think there were also three different steering wheels.I haven't checked the VIN yet to verify that it definitely is a 70.
