Evenly loosen the cylinder base nuts (Figue 11), working in a crisscross pattern. Remove the nuts. NOTE: Before removing the cylinders, mark each cylinder so you can reinstall it in its original position and location on the crankcase studs. Slowly pull the cylinder up and away form the crankcase studs (A, Figure 12). Stuff a clean shop rag around the connecting rod to prevent dirt or parts from falling into the crankcase. Remove and discard the cylinder base gasket (B, Figure 12). Repeat the procedure for the remaining cylinders. The drive shaft coupling threads onto the engine crankshaft and transfers power to the drive shaft. The coupling is internally splined and accepts the splines on one end of the drive shaft (Figure 14).
