More information I agree. After a couple of years, a more powerful 3.5-litre model was added to the range, developing a little over 120 horsepower and putting the model firmly in the upper echelons of high performance motoring. Jaguar introduced a left-hand drive model specifically for the lucrative American market in 1947, the saloons joined by a new drophead coupe model, adding a touch of glamour to the model range and the Mark IV paved the way for the XK120. Tested by The Autocar in March 1948, the 3.5-litre saloon drew favourable comment, despite its age, with the smoothness of the engine, power and ride comfort singled out for praise. With an impressive top speed of 91 mph achieved during testing, the magazine concluded the Jaguar was “a fine ambassador abroad for the high-quality British specialist car”. In total Jaguar built 3,606 3.5-litre Saloons, plus a further 254 cars destined for export to left-hand drive markets. Genuine one owner vehicle, 1947 to 1987. Purchased brand-new from bryson. 13 Sep. 2020 in Adpost This is a great old classic. The 1948 Jaguar 2.5 Mark IV offered the opportunity to pilot a powerful, refined, and elegant ride on a completely new level, during post-war times. With the wire wheels, gigantic Lucas P100 headlights, chrome details and a large upright grille that demands attention, it's easy to see why people fell in-love with this car. Open 8:30am-5:30pm, Monday to Saturday.http://www.raumboerse-luzern.ch/mieten/bose-pm-2-power-mixer-manual-0 In the pre-war Swallow Sidecar and SS era, the company had cut its teeth building increasingly desirable sports cars and saloons, but with the 1.5 Litre and its larger brothers, the newly renamed Jaguar Car Company really started to fly. In the aftermath of World War II, company founder William Lyons revived Jaguar production in late 1945 with cars that carried forward the make's 1937-39 styling. That renowned Jaguar design featured swoopy, close-coupled bodywork, with flowing wings and a traditional upright radiator grille flanked by large, freestanding, headlamps. Wire wheels were standard. Mechanically the 1.5-litre initially utilized a 1,608cc OHV four-cylinder Standard engine, but from 1938 this was bored out to 1775cc and was equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission. The cars were built on a separate chassis frame with suspension by semi-elliptic leaf springs on rigid axles front and rear with mechanically operated brakes using a Girling system. Amongst various information in the car's history file are photos of the restoration work carried out, as well as more recent invoices for parts and maintenance work, an original handbook and a more recent workshop manual. Starts nicely and runs very well. This is not guaranteed, but we will do our best. Whatever happens, it's a lovely car.Enquire about this vehicle. This example is one of only 4,420 versions produced with the 3.5L, the 125 HP unit that squirted the prewar SS100 to a heady 104 MPH and could propel the sturdily built MkIV—with its slick 4-speed manual transmission—beyond 90 MPH. This machine—Body No. C1315—is something far more select, as one of only 376 drophead coupes that were built for the 1948 model year. That makes the MkIV drophead coupe nearly as select as the SS100. This CCCA Full Classic is liveried in burgundy and black with a three-position folding top in tan, complemented by leather upholstery of the same hue and burr walnut dash and trim. Whitewall tires on chrome wire wheels with spinners provide a final flourish. Smiths instruments, dual wipers and free-standing headlamps are factory standard; the Jaguar hood mascot is an optional extra. The whole ensemble is completed by the tool set integrated into the decklid, something even the SS100 did not offer. The first model to be produced under the Jaguar badge following the transcendence from Swallow Sidecars (SS Jaguars). The model was produced immediately after the war between 1945 and 1949 with the three engine sizes and a variety of body options. This model having the Berlina 4 door with the opening front screen. This particular vehicle was originally manufactured on 15th June 1948 and was despatched on 29th June 1948 to the distributor Hoffman of New York City, USA. She was then exported to Spain in the 1950’s where she has been until 2014 when she was brought to the UK. She has undergone a full mechanical overhaul for the past year by Classic Restoration and Service Ltd in Chichester. It is thought that no work had been carried out on the vehicle for the past 20 years or more, but she had been stored well in a dry climate. There is no sign of any rust on the body or underneath. The original documents show that she was a black body with red interior, as she stands today and one would think that the bulk of the car is original. The engine has had an extensive check over and a new inlet manifold was necessary to house the reconditioned carburettors. The independent chassis is rust free, it has also been cleaned protected and repainted and the leaf springs have been rebuilt as they had lost their tensile strength. A thorough brake overhaul has also been carried out. The car drives really well and accelerates easily up through the gears and cruises happily at 60mph on the open road with more to spare. The car has recently passed through an MOT and will be able to be registered on the road in the UK with a new V5 and registration number from 1949. Left hand drive. William Lyons (later Sir William) knew that beautiful though they were, his sidevalve early SS models really deserved more performance and better handling. In 1935 he gave William Heynes, his new chief engineer, just five months to come up with what was needed in time for the London Motor Show. Heynes, working with tuning guru Harry Weslake, came up with an efficient pushrod, overhead valve, cylinder head for the existing engine and squeezed in bigger bearings. Combined with substantial chassis modifications, the result was a fast and accelerative new range of cars. They were beautifully styled, offered the aura of luxurious quality and moreover were very keenly priced. Inside, the ambience was pure quality, with deep-pleated leather seats, a stubby gearlever well placed by the spring-spoke steering wheel, polished fine-grained timbers for the door cappings and instrument panel, the latter well-stocked with large sports-car style black faced instruments. In the 1940s Jaguar began to build its overseas markets, particularly to the USA and this well presented 1948 left-hand drive example of the much modernized Mk IV model was built for export. It underwent an exhaustive restoration during 1990-91 and has been maintained in show condition since. From its beautifully constructed three position hood - the car can be driven as effectively a coupe de ville - to its gleaming engine compartment, this Jaguar is a delight to the discerning eye. The car is Swiss registered. Please refer to ourTHE MOTORCAR OFFERED The final Jaguar to join Professor Edmonds stable was the oldest and the precursor to the others, being this Mark IV which was acquired a dozen years ago. It was sold to him following an extensive restoration for its former owner, of what had been reported to be a good, sound, complete base car. By the spring of '09 the drophead was safely installed in Naples and in use and over the course of the last decade the Jaguar was routinely maintained by Manfred's Automobile Specialties. As new, according to its Jaguar Heritage Certificate, the car had been built on June 9, 1948 and sent directly to the USA, being retailed through Hoffman of New York to its original purchaser. That same production record lists the original colorway of the black body, red interior and black top that it has been refurbished in, and confirms its stature as a matching chassis, engine and body. Dean Edmonds appreciated this brand greatly, and loved the looks of this eye-catching example, with its black paintwork accented perfectly by the plethora of chrome. It is replete with all the period details one would expect including tools in the rear trunk lid.For the CHARITY lots 27 through 31, no buyer's premium will be charged. Credit cards may not be used to pay for motorcar purchases. They were offered with two engine choices—the 2.5 litre engine, popular in England and the more powerful 3.5 litre unit which Americans seemed to favor, and were offered in either right-hand or left-hand drive. This car, delivered new in the U.S. with left-hand steering, was fitted with the 3.5 litre unit so is a rare beast. With that engine and the 4-speed manual transmission, the car was well-suited to driving on American roads. This car is beautifully finished in midnight blue with cognac leather, fabulous burl walnut facia and interior trim and a dark blue convertible top with chrome landau irons. It came to us following its restoration in California and is absolutely gorgeous. It has a comprehensive tool kit fitted to its boot lid and is accompanied by an original owner’s manual. SOLD. September 1935 SS launched their most advanced and significant new car, theThe rolling chassis was mated to a stylishStandard engine, priced at ?295. Find out more about our cookie policy. Only 376 examples of the left-hand drive cabriolet was manufactured, making this prestigious model not only a delicate and refined car, but also a very exclusive one too. The radiator was restored, the wheels were powder coated and fit with new tires, and all fluids were changed. All gauges were cleaned, tested and rebuilt as required. The car received a complete brake system over haul and a new battery and exhaust system were installed. The intent was to drive the car and sort it out before continuing the restoration of the paint and interior. The owner has now decided to focus his efforts onto other projects and is offering the car for sale as a “survivor” that can be used as an unrestored example or a great platform for an aesthetic restoration. Currently the seats and door panels appear to be original but show their age. The interior wood dash and trim is in very nice condition and is most likely a result of a previous refinishing. The headliner and carpet are clearly in need of replacement. Spare parts include replacement front turn signal housings that were oddly removed from the front fenders at some point in the 1950’s, as well as assorted used parts and hardware. Documents include previous registrations from 1958, 59’ and 60’ as well as a previous owners bill of Sale dated April 1954, owner manual and recently issued Jaguar Heritage Certificate. This MK IV is one of approximately only 85 saloon MK IV examples imported to the United States. I would be more than happy to meet out-of-town buyers at the Manchester New Hampshire airport and are available to show the car by appointment any day of the week.
