In the 1990s Manual students won the Jefferson County championships most years and qualified teams for the National Forensic League tournament and the TOC Tournament of Champions.Between 1995 and 2005, 90 of YPAS students received college scholarships totaling an average of over one million dollars per year.Unlike the other magnets, YPAS is semi-autonomous; it has its own assistant principals, counselor, administrative staff, and parents' organization.
