In fact, it was about due for its second service. I swear we, as a magazine, are usually on top of these things, but with the Rouge bouncing from chaperone to chaperone like an orphaned child before landing with me, it somehow slipped through the cracks. So with 5,000-mile service intervals and almost 10,000 miles on the Rogue's odometer, I called up the Nissan dealer down the street from MT H.Q. and made an appointment for the next morning. At the 5,000-mile interval, the service manual calls for the engine oil and its filter to be changed, and a tire rotation. See all 15 photos Just 200 miles shy of what would've been its second (10,000-mile) service, I figured we'd take the multi-point inspection with the oil change and tire rotation. It was filthy. Turned out our Rogue had been off-roading at some point early in its time with us. The Rogue isn't supposed to be due for a new engine air filter until 30,000 miles, but there was no way that dirt-clogged one was going back in. With 15,000 miles fast approaching, rest assured we won't miss the next service.http://abhishekgroup.net.in/userfiles/complete-horse-care-manual-free-download.xml More on our long-term 2014 Nissan Rogue SL AWD here: Arrival SIGN UP By clicking Sign Up, you agree to the Terms of Use. CAUTION ?If the master warning light was illumi- nated while driving: —AWD High Temp Stop vehicle Pull off the road in a safe area and idle the engine. The driving mode will change to 2WD to prevent the AWD system from malfunctioning. If the warning light turns off, you can drive again. —Tire Size Incorrect See Owner’s Manual Pull off the road in a safe area and idle the engine. Check that all tire sizes are the same, tire pressure is correct and tires are not worn. ?If the warning light is still on after the above operations, have your vehicle checked by a NISSAN dealer as soon as possible. INDICATOR LIGHTS For additional information on warnings and indi- cators, see “Vehicle information display” in this section. All-Wheel Drive (AWD) AUTO indicator light (if so equipped) When the ignition switch is in the “ON” position, the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) AUTO indicator light illuminates. When selecting AWD LOCK mode while the engine is running, the AWD LOCK indicator light illuminates. CAUTION Do not drive on dry hard surface roads in the LOCK mode. Always drive carefully when using the hill descent control system and deceler- ate the vehicle speed by depressing the brake pedal if necessary. Be especially careful when driving on frozen, muddy or extremely steep downhill roads. Fail- ure to control vehicle speed may result in a loss of control of the vehicle and possible serious injury or death.? The hill descent control may not control the vehicle speed on a hill under all load or road conditions. Always be prepared to depress the brake pedal to control vehicle speed. Failure to do so may result in a collision or serious personal injury. CAUTION When the hill descent control system op- erates continuously for a long time, the temperature of the brake pads may in- crease and the hill descent control system may be temporarily disabled (the indicator light will blink). If the indicator light does not come on continuously after blinking, stop using the system. The hill descent control system is designed to reduce driver workload when going down steep hills. The hill descent control system helps to control vehicle speed so the driver can concen- trate on steering the vehicle. The hill descent control indicator light will come on when the system is activated. If the accelerator or brake pedal is depressed while the hill descent control system is on, the system will stop operating temporarily. As soon as the accelerator or brake pedal is released, the hill descent control system begins to function again if the hill descent control operating condi- tions are fulfilled.http://dana1157.com/images/canon-e-500-manual.pdf The hill descent control indicator light blinks if the switch is on and all conditions for system activa- tion are not met or if the system becomes disen- gaged for any reason. To turn off the hill descent control system, push the switch to the OFF position. For additional information, see “Hill descent con- trol system on indicator light” in this section and “Hill descent control system” in the “Starting and driving” section of this manual. LIC2664 HILL DESCENT CONTROL (HDC) SWITCH (if so equipped) However, avoid driving in deep wa- ter or mud as your NISSAN is mainly designed for leisure use, unlike a conventional off-road ve- hicle. Remember that two-wheel drive models are less capable than all-wheel drive models for rough road driving and extrication when stuck in deep snow or mud, or the like. Please observe the following precautions: WARNING ?Spinning the front wheels on slippery surface may cause the AWD warning message to display and the AWD sys- tem to automatically switch from the AWD to the 2WD mode. This could re- duce the traction. Be especially careful when towing a trailer. (AWD models) ?Drive carefully when off the road and avoid dangerous areas. Every person who drives or rides in this vehicle should be seated with their seat belt fastened. This will keep you and your passengers in position when driving over rough terrain.?Do not drive across steep slopes. In- stead drive either straight up or straight down the slopes. Off-road vehicles can tip over sideways much more easily than they can forward or backward. ?Many hills are too steep for any vehicle. If you drive up them, you may stall. If you drive down them, you may not be able to control your speed. If you drive across them, you may roll over. ?Do not shift gears while driving on downhill grades as this could cause loss of control of the vehicle. ?Stay alert when driving to the top of a hill. At the top there could be a drop-off or other hazard that could cause an accident. ?If your engine stalls or you cannot make it to the top of a steep hill, never at- tempt to turn around. Your vehicle could tip or roll over. Always back straight down in R (Reverse) gear and apply brakes to control your speed. ?Heavy braking going down a hill could cause your brakes to overheat and fade, resulting in loss of control and an acci- dent. Apply brakes lightly and use a low gear to control your speed.?Unsecured cargo can be thrown around when driving over rough terrain. Prop- erly secure all cargo so it will not be thrown forward and cause injury to you or your passengers. ?To avoid raising the center of gravity excessively, do not exceed the rated capacity of the roof rack (if so equipped) and evenly distribute the load. ?Secure heavy loads in the cargo area as far forward and as low as possible. Do not equip the vehicle with tires larger than specified in this manual. This could cause your vehicle to roll over. ?Do not grip the inside or spokes of the steering wheel when driving off-road. The steering wheel could move sud- denly and injure your hands. Instead drive with your fingers and thumbs on the outside of the rim. ?Before operating the vehicle, ensure that the driver and all passengers have their seat belts fastened. ?Always drive with the floor mats in place as the floor may become hot. With a higher center of gravity, your NISSAN is more affected by strong side winds. Slower speeds ensure better vehicle control. ?Do not drive beyond the performance capability of the tires, even with AWD engaged. ?For AWD equipped vehicles, do not at- tempt to raise two wheels off the ground and shift the transmission to any drive or reverse position with the engine running. Doing so may result in drivetrain damage or unexpected ve- hicle movement which could result in serious vehicle damage or personal injury.?Do not attempt to test a AWD equipped vehicle on a 2-wheel dynamometer (such as the dynamometers used by some states for emissions testing), or similar equipment even if the other two wheels are raised off the ground. Make sure you inform test facility personnel that your vehicle is equipped with AWD before it is placed on a dynamometer. Using the wrong test equipment may result in drivetrain damage or unex- pected vehicle movement which could result in serious vehicle damage or per- sonal injury. ?When a wheel is off the ground due to an unlevel surface, do not spin the wheel excessively. ?Accelerating quickly, sharp steering maneuvers or sudden braking may cause loss of control. ?If at all possible, avoid sharp turning maneuvers, particularly at high speeds. Your NISSAN vehicle has a higher cen- ter of gravity than a passenger car. Install tire chains on the front wheels when driving on slippery roads and drive carefully. ?Be sure to check the brakes immedi- ately after driving in mud or water. For additional information, refer to “Brake system” in this section for “Wet brakes”. ?Avoid parking your vehicle on steep hills. If you get out of the vehicle and it rolls forward, backward or sideways, you could be injured. ?Whenever you drive off-road through sand, mud or water as deep as the wheel hub, more frequent maintenance may be required. See “Periodic mainte- nance” in the “NISSAN Service and Maintenance Guide.” The description of this operation is an error. This operation is not an available feature of the Model Year 2014 Rogue. The Owner’s Manual references to the operation of locking and unlocking the glove box should be disre- garded wherever they appear. NISSAN apolo- gizes for any confusion this inadvertent printing error may have caused. OPENING WINDOWS The “Pre-driving checks and adjustments” sec- tion of the Model Year 2014 Rogue Owner’s Manual describes the feature of opening the front power windows by pressing and holding the UN- LOCK button on the intelligent key fob. The de- scription of this operation is an error. This opera- tion is not an available feature of the Model Year 2014 Rogue. The Owner’s Manual references to the operation of opening the front power win- dows by pressing the holding the UNLOCK but- ton on the intelligent key fob should be disre- garded wherever they appear. NISSAN apologizes for any confusion this inadvertent printing error may have caused. HOW TO SWITCH THE DISPLAY With the ignition switch in the ON position, press the CAMERA button or move the shift lever to the R (Reverse) position to operate the Around View Monitor. The Around View Monitor displays different split screen views depending on the position of the shift lever. Press the CAMERA button to switch between the available views. The master warning light may illuminate while trying to free a stuck vehicle due to high pow- ertrain oil temperature. The driving mode may change to 2WD. AUTO mode may change to LOCK mode before the warning light illuminates. If the master warning light illuminates during op- eration, stop the vehicle with the engine idling in a safe place immediately. Then if the light turns off after a while, you can continue driving. A large difference between the diameters of the front and rear wheels will make the warning light illuminate. Pull off the road in a safe area and idle the engine. Check that all tire sizes are the same, tire pressure is correct, and the tires are not worn. CAUTION ?If the warning light remains on after the above operation, have your vehicle checked by a NISSAN dealer as soon as possible. ALL-WHEEL DRIVE (AWD) (if so equipped) Reduce the vehicle speed and have your vehicle checked by a NISSAN dealer as soon as possible. ?The powertrain may be damaged if you continue driving with the warning light illuminated. ?Never drive on dry, hard surface roads in the LOCK mode, as this will overload the powertrain and may cause a serious malfunction. WARNING ?For AWD equipped vehicles, do not at- tempt to raise two wheels off the ground and shift the transmission to any drive or reverse position with the engine running. Make sure that you inform the test facility personnel that your vehicle is equipped with AWD before it is placed on a dynamometer. Using the wrong test equipment may result in drive train damage or unexpected ve- hicle movement which could result in serious vehicle damage or personal injury. ALL-WHEEL DRIVE (AWD) LOCK SWITCH OPERATIONS The AWD LOCK switch is located on the lower side of the instrument panel. This switch is used to select the AUTO or LOCK mode depending on the driving conditions. LOCK mode: The AWD LOCK indicator light will illuminate. AUTO mode: The AWD LOCK indicator light will turn off. LIC2645 This is normal. ?The oil temperature of the powertrain parts will increase if the vehicle is continuously operated under conditions where the differ- ence in rotation between the front and rear wheels is large (wheel slip), such as when driving the vehicle on rough roads, through sand or mud, or freeing a stuck vehicle. In these cases, the master warning light illumi- nates and the AWD mode changes to 2WD to protect the powertrain parts. Stop driving with the engine idling and wait until the warning light turns off and the AWD returns to the AUTO mode. If the warning light re- mains on, have your vehicle checked by a NISSAN dealer as soon as possible. Do not operate the AWD LOCK switch when making a turn or backing up. ?Do not operate the AWD LOCK switch with the front wheel spinning. ?Engine idling speed is high while warm- ing up the engine. Be especially careful when starting or driving on slippery surfaces. ?When turning the vehicle in LOCK mode on paved roads, you may feel a braking effect. This is a normal condition of the AWD model. WARNING ?Never rely solely on the hill descent control system to control vehicle speed when driving on steep downhill grades. Always drive carefully and attentively when using the hill descent control sys- tem and decelerate the vehicle speed by depressing the brake pedal if neces- sary. Be especially careful when driving on frozen, muddy or extremely steep downhill roads. Failure to control ve- hicle speed may result in a loss of con- trol of the vehicle and possible serious injury or death.?The hill descent control may not control the vehicle speed on a hill under all load or road conditions. Always be prepared to depress the brake pedal to control vehicle speed. Failure to do so may re- sult in a collision or serious personal injury. The hill descent control system can only be acti- vated when the AWD LOCK switch is engaged. Hill de- scent control is useful when engine braking alone cannot control vehicle speed. Hill descent con- trol applies the vehicle brakes to control vehicle speed allowing the driver to concentrate on steering while reducing the burden of brake and accelerator operation. If the hill descent control light is blinking, the hill descent control is engaged however the hill de- scent control will not control the vehicle speed. ?When additional braking is required on steep downhill roads, activate the hill de- scent control system by pushing the switch ON. See “Hill descent control switch” in the “Instruments and controls” section. There is a difference between learning and knowing. This book teaches both. The reader learns through the detailed text and then gets to know the subject better by doing the tutorials. After following the tutorials, the reader should play around with the code to help solidify the knowledge. This is book second edition, since previous edition jQuery was added in its title, but was renamed due to customer complaints about the contents which mainly focus on jQuery. That is perhaps the biggest drawback of the book because JavaScript and jQuery are both extensive areas and maybe it would be better to dedicate a separate book to each topic. Reader will be introduced to the basics of jQuery and after completing the book will be able to create a several transitions and targeting elements. For readers accustomed to McFarland's writing (e.g. CSS: The Missing Manual book), the same approach was used for writing and tutorials. McFarland is skillful writer, able to communicate most of the points clearly. Author introduces some jQuery plugins giving practical examples for those who are new in this field. This manual would be best suited for people already familiar with JavaScript and want some jQuery practical programming examples. It will give reader good introduction to JavaScript and jQuery but because both topics are so extensive it wasn't possible to go so much in the details. I cannot count the number of times I ended up just copying and pasting after googling. In less than two days I have been able to learn to create ef I cannot count the number of times I ended up just copying and pasting after googling. If not, a book like Learn CSS with w3Schools will quickly get you up to speed. Other than knowing some basic CSS you will need little else, since the author systematically avoids jargon (supplementing any he cannot avoid with down-to-earth explanations) as well as gives brief refreshers on HTML and Javascript prior to diving into jQuery. About 25 into it you'll be glad you did. In fact, I'm on my second-read and am finding it even better than the first. Accessible without compromising its complexity, this book provides detailed explanation and concise tutorial for performing basic and few advanced jQuery applications. I liked this a lot more than In fact, I'm on my second-read and am finding it even better than the first. I liked this a lot more than Sitepoint's jQuery: Novice to Ninja, or wading through countless contradictory information from jQuery's documentation page. Not that the latter is unnecessary, as you'll spend hours familiarising it, but this book will give beginners a solid grasp of jQuery's basic concept. It's explanations are alright but still somewhat disorganized. EVERY time i complete one of the tutorials there is a new line of code they don't explain. They then tell you there will be an additional explanation of this portion of code after another 100 pages or so.If I had any prior knowledge of JavaScript I'm sure it would make more sense. The software I was working on used jQuery, so I used this book to learn about jQuery as I prefer books as a method of learning instead of reading websites, mainly because books are more structured and considered and also because I can take my book anywhere with me. Half ways through the book, you might fight the urge to stop reading it because of the easy syntax but definitely worth stick to it. Would definitely recommend it to boost your web development career while trying to master Javascript. This can be both good and bad. It's great given that jQuery can do most everything you could ever need but it's not so great if you really want to learn javascript to do the few things that jQuery does not. Otherwise you may skim through the first half of the book and concentrate on specific characteristic of javascript. However the examples cover most of the popular usecases such as form validation, tooltips, image rollovers and ajax. I definitely learned a lot about jQuery, CSS and HTML. It is not very typical for a tutorial book to be both thorough and well-written, but this one is a wonderful exception. I can recommend it to anyone who wants to become familiar with contemporary approaches to building Web sites. Not particularly exciting. Just a meh instructional manual, but I did learn quite a bit.
