It does have some good questions in the book that will help you study, but I don't think there were enough good questions to really make it worth the money to buy. If you're looking for an awesome study guide, this book isn't it. They do a good job of breaking down the chapters and make you go back and look for stuff you missed, but it takes too much time to look up each answer because there are a lot of them. If you want the answers and a walk through of them then you are in luck. They are perfect and well illustrated step by step, but be prepared because they are all the way in the back of the book. So if you want to study for your metabolics class tread lightly with this book because you just might end up spending more than you bargained for because all it gives is answers and alot of work on top of your class you wish you didn't have to go through.I'm glad I only paid a small fraction for a used copy, since the quality would not justify the full retail price. Save your money and ask your professor or TA if you're confused.I feel like I wasted unnecessary money.It seems like they just threw some left over problems in a soft cover manual and charged a lot of money for it. The new version is DEFINITELY not worth the hefty price. If you have a professor that gives straight-from-the-book quizzes and exams, go ahead and pick it up. Consider the 5th edition instead of this 6th edition. They two are nearly identical in substance. However, if you have a professor like mine who rarely uses the book, this manual will be of no use. Just a few changes to pictures, none of the problems were different. Before purchasing this, go to your Biochem department and ask if they have any of these lying around. My department had over 30 5th editions lying around free to anyone. Ask your profs if they are getting rid of there instructor's manual, I did and got a copy of one.I find that reading the text and attending lectures is enough to fully grasp the concepts. If you need a bit of extra help, or if you like to do end of chapter problems for practice, then this might be helpful. It is not only a guide in that it gives you fill in the blank questions to complete as you read the chapter, but it also contains the solutions for the problems at the end of the chapter, as well as a description of how to solve the problem.That being said I am trying not to make my review biased. The text did a decent job of explaining most things. The pathways could have been written a little more clear or easy to understand. I did find better ones online that were more useful to study from, etc. Also, it was very frustrating that the solutions manual was lacking. It most certainly would have helped.
