The irony is, I would think people who need that stuff would probably also get a fancier keyboard, but who knows. Once you hit the right key, the song will move on with you. It doesn't do much for helping you to actually read music in my opinion, but that would be a lot to ask. The digital readout during the lesson will show you the proper key(s) to press on a key diagram, which finger(s) to use on a hand diagram, and does in fact have the note(s) shown on a staff, but the staff is teeny tiny and not very useful for learning to translate a note to a piano key. You'll want to seek that level of instruction elsewhere. It would have been even better to have a package that also included the sustain pedal, but that omission hasn't at all been a problem at this early stage. Those are for sale individually if you want one. I highly recommend this as a starter keyboard. I would not rely on it as your sole instruction resource.I decided to buy it not only because it was the best deal out there but because It has touch sensitive keys and a grand piano function. I live in an apartment, plus i'm 19 living on my own so it's impossible for me to have a real piano and i wanted a real piano feel and sound in my keyboard. And i got that and more in the pack. Not only are the keys touch sensitive which is a must have for beginners and basically everyone, it also has different piano sounds and many instrument sounds you can play around with. The keys don't feel fake either, they have a good feel to them. The keyboard also comes with built in lessons and a challenge play mode. Both features work fine, but nothing too special. I don't really plan on using either functions to actually learn but maybe i'll play around with them. The stand works well, i don't use it to play on but i use it to store my keyboared on when i'm not playing it. The headphones to put it simply suck, in the reviews i knew they weren't going to be top notch but i was at least hoping they would make due. To start off they don't even fit in my pianos headset jack, but they can fit in my ipod. So when i tried them out on my ipod it turns out only one ear works and the sound quality sucks.All in all this piano is a good buy and i do recommend the keyboared, although maybe instead of buying the premium pack just buy the keyboared and stand seperate. I think it will be cheaper this way and you don't have to deal with the frustration of the crappy headphones.I purchased the entire package of keyboard, stand, adapter and headphones, though I was wary because of other reviews. At first, I feared the screws weren't included in the stand. They were there and just screwed into the holes; not loose as I expected. The adapter works fine. I feared that it wouldn't so I had ordered a Casio brand one as well. It is scheduled to arrive on Monday. The headphones come with their own adapter so that they can fit my keyboard as well as digital music players. No complaints though. It works.) The quality of the keyboard was far better than I expected. I am very happy with my purchase.Secondly, the voices and rhythms do not sound very good at all. Again, I've played other cheap keyboards that have sounded much better. Thirdly, the fills for the rhythms do not work and lead to horrible sounding transitions when trying to make a song with them. Finally, the buttons for the rhythms and the lessons are awkwardly positioned and awkward to press because of their shape. Overall, I am very very disappointed with this keyboard and definitely plan on returning it. The entire project is too broad fit a stack exchange question, though a very specific part of it once you have done research on what is needed and have an overall plan might fit. But again it is not really a worthwhile project - too many keys to wire up, likely poor results. There are also previous questions here about aspects of such attempted conversions. Either way, this seems like it would be a long project. The models share the same user manual, so they are likely very similar, but you'll want to look at the layouts and schematics carefully to see where your keyboard differs. Part of the 9VDC power from either the wall wart or the batteries is converted to 5V to run various ICs -- and some of that is likewise converted down to 3.3V -- but it looks, from my quick look, like there are some parts run off the 9V natively. I don't know if those parts are the ones you want to keep using. So these should be complete schematics to your keyboard. I want to use the keyboard as a device which only need to generate midi signals when a key is pressed, I don't want to convert MIDI signals into sound, I just want the midi signals to come out through the USB port which is in the above mentioned PCB. How can I understand the use of each pin among the 13 pins on that PCB.I think If I can connect those pins to a source I will get signals from USB output.What could work is wiring a jumper from the USB port's VBUS (at the ungrounded side of C75 -- see page 7, bottom view on the left) across to the output of IC5 (which is its pin 2) -- on the same side, between FU2 and C84.
