This clock does both and does them beautifully. It's a very intuitive design - I didn't even need to read the directions in order to set it up. I literally plugged it into the wall and the clock set itself to the correct time. The clockface is easy to read at night. The radio works well and the whole unit takes up only about 4 square inches of space on the nightstand. It's a great unit and we are both very pleased!It works great, aside from occasionally screwing up on the daylight savings time. So whether the alarm is set (on) or not set (off), the time you last set it for is remembered. Thus all I have to do to turn on my alarm on a Sunday evening is push the button, and it is set. I generally keep one alarm set for 6am which I use during the weekdays, and the other for 8am for the weekends. I never have to adjust the times unless I need to wake earlier on any given day. On top is a large snooze button and a smaller OFF button. This is the button you press to stop the alarm each morning. Did I get it for the audio quality? No. It's an inexpensive clock radio. I DID get it for the blue dimmable display. It has 3 Levels of display - Bright, which is too bright for me. Medium, which doesn't glow through my eyelids but is still a little too bright for when I look at the clock at night. And Low. Low is perfect. It emits a dim soft blue glow which is easy on the eyes at night. No USB port but that's fine with me. Love this clock. Love the display. And yes I do know where the buttons are so I can set it in the dark if I need to. These include maps, timeline figures, scope and sequence check off, and more. It is great for those who love unit study approach and can plan their own with just a little guidance. When information in The Ultimate Guide is helpful, it is listed by page number. The Trail Guide to World Geography is the book of choice for those who do not want to make their own lesson plans, want to use an incorporating-geography approach, or want their students to make a geography notebook throughout the year. For the most part, once students are comfortable using an atlas they can work independently. However, 2nd-graders need to be reading and able to understand how to navigate the atlas. Use for 2nd-graders only if your student is reading independently, wants to do mapping, or loves atlases. Or great if you are teaching older students and want to include your younger student. Galloping the Globe is much more appropriate and engaging for the younger students. All students are studying the same topic, but doing assignments at their own academic level. Assignment choices range from research to art to making crossword puzzles, salt dough maps and keeping a geography notebook and much more. Choose assignments for each student that meets their learning style and interest and you'll have a great time learning together.Students will follow the same trail marking throughout the book. Students in grades 4 will begin to work independently as they become more familiar with how to use their atlas and they develop thinking skill to determine where to find answers. You will need to provide sufficient instructions on using their atlas and also a resource with geography terms (i.e. geographical terms chart or The Ultimate Geography and Timeline Guide) Some Q referring to geo-terms will not be answered from the atlas.
