Calla Top Contributor: Fashion Design 5.0 out of 5 stars I adore this book for it's clarity and practicality. The text is concise-it's not too much to overwhelm and not to little as to confuse or leave wanting, This book is jammed packed with information that helps you carefully consider design concepts. I love the fact that an entire chapter is dedicated towards assignments for helping you get your hands dirty, even better they are individual exercises so you do not necessarily need a class or partner to help you complete.http://onlinebookshopee.com/careeruserfiles/cafamosa-cf-220-manual.xml

Excellent Book and for the price-I have no complaints. If you are wondering where to get started designing this is an excellent reference as well, if you have been designing for a while this is a perfect design companion to creating well though out collections. His insight on how to build a winning successful fashion portfolio is exactly on point. After graduating the program, this book is still my go to book whenever I work on improving my portfolio. I also highly recommend his other books as they are also just as helpful. I wish I would have had this book when I was applying for schools because its perfect for anyone thinking of going into the fashion industry as a career.I read the review that said this is the actual textbook used in a fashion course at a popular fashion school. Excellent!Disclaimer: I know the author but I would totally call him out if it was BS. It isn't. He's smart, a great educator, and knows his stuff. It’s easy to read and it really breaks down and explains things very well. I’ve learned so much about fashion just from this book. I definitely will be read others because it doesn’t cover everything but this book is great to start off.It is a very informative and very detailed book. It is great for anyone with a future dream in the fashion design world. This book has a lot of helpful. This was a Christmas present and she has really enjoyed learning the tips and tricks for how design professionals operate.Very detailed and meet its purposeUnfortunately the delivery took 5 days but the timing was not essential as my partner is a beginner in the aspects of fashion. The history would have done well with a six page essay racing through major designers instead of six pages of grid attempting to give a sampling of major designers, and this was a really good example of how the emphasis on magazine-ready layout detracted from the quality and quantity of content.https://www.informaquiz.it/petrgenis1604790/status/flotaganis24032022-2105 The men's fashion samples are token (women as default is a pretty radical thing in other spaces, but here it's status quo and my main interest is men's fashion, bah) and what is there is largely dismal (really). That all said, if you're looking for more in-depth info on fashion design without having to go to school for it, or for a textbook to accompany a more competent course, this isn't bad by any means. There's some really good exercises at the end that someone working in any creative medium could get some solid use out of, and I definitely came away with a deeper understanding of contextualizing fashion interpretation and development. A lot of the pictures were just too small to study. A lot of the sections in chapters weren't helpful due to space (they could have been entire books themselves) and I wish more things had been said about certain subjects. One such section would be Unit 3 Designers. There just isn't enough room, the small blurbs of text weren't terribly informative or interesting, and there were no photos of the designer's work which would have been a lot better in my opinion. Unit 18 was one of my favorites. It's a several page layout of drawn details such as cuff types, collars, dress dart placements, coat details, skirt silhouettes, et cetera. One of my projects is to look around current fashion an pinpoint how modern designers have utilized these details in different ways. There are also a couple assignments at the end I will also take advantage of. In general, I think it's a good overview for someone considering going into Fashion Design to the breadth of what it entails. I don't think it's the best book you can pick up.http://fxturfspecialists.com/images/brother-mfc8480dn-manual.pdf I got it from the library, and I will not be buying it for myself. I appreciate all the charts and reference guides to cuts and fabrics and important designers. I think they share more fundamentals than they realize, and while reading felt like I was back in the 2-D design class I loathed in college. Anywho. Not as great as I thought it would be.What i really liked about this book was it gives lot and lots of ideas that well make you a great fashion designer.Such as: different types if materials and the assignments that have you looking at garments in a retail store for construction, fabrics etc. To view it,Wonderful book for anyone working in fashion. Pawels 2.0 out of 5 stars It corroborates my conclusion that this spate of beautifully laid out, medium format books in soft covers are unorganized snippets of pretty dreams without practical value for wannabees. The information is given like master to apprentice, but it does not inform outside the context of the atelier. However, since I am buying these books for reference, I did find my only useful information in Mr. Faerm's essay. If I were qualified to write a book for aspirers who want to find a livelihood by designing clothing, I should begin when the inhabitants of Eden realized they did not have enough hair to cover themselves from cold and shame. Once the knife was invented to take the fur from hairier animals, and the needle invented to improve insulation and appearance, designing duds became the second oldest profession; the most primitive savages go ape over personal adornment. As civilization found more materials, such as cotton, linen, and hemp, and technology developed spinning, weaving, knitting, and dyeing, and people became specialized by occupation, the palette of design elements grew. The importance of this paragraph is that every advance in couturie was made to serve a purpose with the means available. Purpose and available means are the driving force for design, not imagination. So, a course in designing threads must begin with learning the purpose served by the way clothing is conceived and fabricated. Mr. Faerm's instruction begins and ends with finding inspiration; inspiration is vain without purpose and impracticable without means. Every culture, from Cro Magnon to Norse, Indian, Egyptian, Aztec, Seventh Avenue, and the Haight developed motifs that served their purpose and pleased sensibilities. These motifs are commemorated today where practical, so a course in the history of fashion is required. It isn't in this book. Mr. Faerm describes 70 more or less uncommon materials in fewer than 50 words each. But he overlooks the staples of denim, serge, twill, broadcloth, wool, felt, and leather without a word about serviceability. This is as useless as telling a student of architecture that steel, brick, wood, concrete, glass and plastics are available, without explaining the structural parameters that make them useful and pleasing for particular purposes. Through the course of history, a repertoire of design elements has become established because of usefulness and appearance. Mr. Faerm provides 125 drawings of vents, cuffs, necklines, pockets and pleats. These are the elements of design. Way to go, Faerm-o! But he neglects to explain the purpose for which they were created and why they can be used today. The history of European clothing is the history of the wealthy. The leisure class is still with us to be admired promenading on Park Avenue, but the big market is we working Joes and Janes, with our conservative traditions. None of us would dare to go out in a Versace gown (unless escorted to the Oscars by a gentleman with the sophistication to appreciate the corselet), and we keep Victoria's Secret. Never mind bibs for children; it is nursing mothers who need them. Like the school system prepares children for careers in medicine, law, and academe, these fashion books would have us believe that ordinary working people are declase. Well, we are. That is our virtue and our value and our pride. I can't believe that any of these authors ever got into their industry by following their own advice. Wannabees who pound streets and doors to show portfolios to employers are the last to be hired because people known are hired before strangers. Fitting in the house culture is more important than talent. The way to get a foothold is to show interest in the person who does the hiring. A business person will give two minutes to see what you can do, but most are vain enough to give the rest of the day to a wannabee showing genuine and informed admiration --- some will give the rest of the night, too. I can recommend this spate of beautifully produced books to people who want to learn how to design pages. The cover is excellent. The model in the middle looks like Yoanna House, the first winner of Tyra Banks' contest. TPThis is a perfect book for people who want to learn more about the fashion industry. This was a Christmas present and she has really enjoyed learning the tips and tricks for how design professionals operate.Very detailed and meet its purposeUnfortunately the delivery took 5 days but the timing was not essential as my partner is a beginner in the aspects of fashion. This is the first that worked. Since substantial progress has been made to date in the area of convergence on revenue recognition, to the point where final approval is all but assured, further recommendation for convergence will be predicated on the assumption that the proposed standard will be adopted. Thus, recommendations will be made on how to make the new standard more useable to both IASB and FASB constituents and financial statement users (Gallistel, et al., 2012). Moreover, even where there is convergence, differences still remain. For example, in business combinations control is defined differently. The FASB follows a two-tier consolidation model. The first tier focuses on voting control or the percentage of voting shares. If an entity directly or indirectly has a controlling financial interest in the other entities, consolidation is normally necessary for a fair presentation. The usual condition for a controlling financial interest is ownership of a majority voting interest; however, a controlling financial interest may be achieved through arrangements that do not involve voting interests. The second tier is concerned with a qualitative analysis of power over significant activities and exposure to significant losses or benefits. All investees are first evaluated to determine if the investor is the primary beneficiary of a variable interest entity (VIE). Moreover, an entity may not issue voting or similar interests, or the total equity investment at risk is not sufficient to permit the legal entity to finance its activities without additional subordinated financial support. In such cases, that entity’s activities may be predetermined or its decision making ability may be determined contractually. All entities are evaluated to determine whether they are variable interest entities (VIEs). VIEs are consolidated whereas non-VIEs are assessed on the basis of voting and other decision making rights. Many key developments included in Table 1 show SEC involvement from the start.
