Luciano Chavez 5.0 out of 5 stars ICS breathed new life into my phone with speed, functionality, and a clean interface. So when I started researching my first Android tablet, I wanted it to run ICS right off. Thankfully, Android tablets remain close to stock with regards to the OS user interface and there were already some coming out with ICS pre-installed. ASUS added very minor modifications to the user interface, mostly for settings and for notifications. The changes mesh well with the rest of the OS. Basically, you get as close to the user experience that Google intended with Ice Cream Sandwich. After saying that though, I too replaced the stock launcher with something a little nicer. The stock launcher was fine; very speedy but just wanted a few more features. I run the Nova Launcher on my phone but on the tablet I installed the latest version of the popular Apex Launcher (actually I installed the Pro version since it was available). This gave me the ability to hide applications in the launcher, overlap widgets, etc. I love the fact that Android in general gives you so much customization and freedom of choice. While I have seen many reviews touting the speed of the TF300T, which is true, I have yet to see anyone mention the Google ecosystem. If you are a Google services user (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar, etc.) then you'll get most of those apps working for you right after initial setup. You also have the ability to sideload apps, such as installing application from the Amazon appstore if you so choose. Just need to change a setting for that. The only other small problem I've had is when maximizing Youtube videos to full-screen - sometimes it doesn't play correctly, (EDIT 070612 -- the Youtube App automatically updated recently and I no longer sometimes have a problem with maximizing video - it works perfectly now every time.) I've already downloaded and used dozens of apps and games from the Google store, as well as set up Kindle access and several news feeds and apps, and pretty much everything else I wanted. I bought a 32gb memory upgrade but due to the huge 32gb internal memory of which I've used about 10gb so far I've just used the additional memory for a hefty chunk of my music collection and podcasts. I aim to leave the internal memory primarily for apps and app data - I'm sure it will take many years for me to even approach filling it up. Android 4 (ICS) is an absolute joy to use, much better than I anticipated. I've already found that I no longer use my PC as much as I can do pretty much everything I need to on the ASUS. The slight tweaks ASUS has made to the vanilla system are fine, although it would appear users are locked into using the ASUS file manager which may be off-putting for some. I can't say I'm that bothered though, their File Manager works and does what I need. Many people have commented on the screen quality being a little dull compared to more expensive alternatives. I don't find this a problem at all. The screen quality is far superior to anything I've used previously, so I'm perfectly happy with it. I doubt I'll ever need to use the tablet outside in bright sunlight, so I have no complaints other than the fact that there are two odd several inch horizontal smudges on the screen. When the screen is totally polished I cannot see them, but finger print oily deposits adhere to them differently than the rest of the screen and they soon become visible again, but only when the unit is switched off. As I can't see these marks when the unit is switched on, I'll live with it.
