Unlocking the trunk lid The handle is located in the rear license plate recess. Pull on the handle and lift up the trunk lid. Report the loss immediately to your car insurance company. Have the mechanical lock replaced if necessary. Your authorized Mercedes-Benz Center will be glad to supply you with a replace- ment. Open door only when conditions are safe to do so. 1 Inside door handle 2 Locking knob Pull on door handle 1. If door was locked, locking knob 2 will move up. Always make sure that there is sufficient overhead clearance. If the trunk lid does not open, it is still locked separately ( page 95). Trunk lid emergency release The emergency release button is located in the trunk lid. Be espe- cially careful when small children are around. Separately unlocking the trunk Turn the key completely to the left to position 2. You can now open the trunk.Central locking switch 1 Locking 2 Unlocking Locking Press upper half 1 of the central lock- ing switch. If both doors are closed, the vehicle locks. Unlocking Press lower half 2 of the central lock- ing switch. This allows easier entry into and exit from the vehicle when the driver’s door is opened. Pull out head restraint. Installing front head restraints: Press switch 1 upwards and hold for about five seconds. Placing rear head restraints upright Pull the rear head restraint forward un- til it locks into position. Head restraint tilt Two different head restraint angle posi- tions are available. This seat has a movable seat cushion and inflatable air cushions built into the seat backrest to provide addi- tional lumbar and side support. The seat cushion movement, backrest cushion height and curvature can be con- tinuously varied with regulators on the right side of the seat after turning the. Switching on seat heating Press upper switch position 1. A red indicator lamp on the switch lights up. Turn button 2 to selected memory po- sition. Press memory button 1. Release memory button and push button 2 within three seconds. All the settings are stored at the select- ed position. Exterior lamp switch The exterior lamp switch is located on the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel. Automatic headlamp mode Parking lamps (also side marker lamps, tail lamps, license plate. Daytime running lamp mode Turn exterior lamp switch to position M or U. To activate the daytime running lamp mode, see “Setting daytime running lamp mode (USA only)”. Push the combination switch in direction 1. The high beam symbol is illuminated on the instrument cluster. High beam flasher Pull the combination switch briefly in direction 2. Switching lamps off Press the rocker switch to the center position 4. The interior lighting switches off. The automatic control function is switched Switching rear interior lights on Press switch 1. Excessive coolant temperatures trigger a warning in the multifunction display. Trip odometer Make sure you are viewing the trip odome- ter display ( page 114).
