Young readers can easily identify with the main character within this story and easily pick up on the challenges faced during 1777. With 25 chapters in this 125 page book, each chapter reads about 4 pages which makes about 15 minutes of reading time, timed perfectly for a bedtime chapter or homework reading time. I highly recommend it. My boys and I really enjoyed this often passed over piece of history. We read the last 10 or so chapters in one day because the boys HAD to know how it ended and the action was really heating up. I was so pleased to find such a great book about an amazing piece of history that usually only gets a paragraph or two in most history books. It works great as a read-aloud, but most 3rd graders on up could read this on their own. Will and Henry spur on the men who have bravely joined them, hoping to arrive in Boston in time to win the battle for the Americans.
