Avoid wa rm or humi d locations, such as i n the vicinity of a water fauc et, water hea ter, or humidifi er, and avo id locat ions where the fumes from amm onia, paint th inner, or ot her volati le chemica ls may be pres ent. ? Avoid loc ations that a re subjec t to vibra tion. ? Avoid exp osing the scanner to rapid chan ges in temperature. If the roo m in which the scanner is installed is cold but rapi dly heated, water droplets (condensa tion) may form ins ide the sca nner. Als o, wh en us ing an ex tensi on c ord, make su re that t he extensio n cord is rated for the current requ irements of the scann er. ? Never try to disassemb le the AC adapter or mod ify it in any way, as this is extremely d angerous. ? The powe r cord and AC adapter may becom e damaged i f they are often step ped on or if heavy objects a re placed on them. Continued u se of a damaged po wer cord and AC adapter c an lead to an accid ent, such as a fire or electric al shoc k. ? Do not us e the powe r cord wh ile it is coiled.Do not pu ll direct ly on the power co rd. When disconne cting th e powe r cord, g rasp the plug a nd remove it from the o utlet. ? Keep the are a around th e power plu g clear of objects s o that the power cord can be disconne cted eas ily in an emergency. ? Use only t he AC ada pter provid ed with thi s scanner. Before mov ing the sc anner, ma ke sure t he documen t tray is clo sed and the i nterface c able and AC ad apter are di sconnected.Th ese items may fall into the s canner, a nd cause a fi re or elec tr ic sh ock. If fingerpri nt authenti cation fails frequentl y, the fingerpr int sensor may be dirty. Clean the s urface of the fing erprint sen sor regula ry. ? When clea ning the f ingerpr int senso r, use a soft dry cloth to wipe dirt off the su rface. ? Do n ot us e a poin te d obj ect to rem ove a ny di rt th at accumul ates around the fingerpri nt sensor. Doi ng so may ca use t he fi nge rpri nt s enso r to malfun ction. ? Touching the finge rprint sen sor while charged w ith static el ectricity may caus e the finge rprint sensor or scanne r unit to mal function. Before tou ching the fingerpr int sens or, discharge any stat ic ele ctricity by touch ing a pie ce of me tal. Be es peciall y careful during dry period s, such as the winter seas on, when the likelih ood of bei ng charge d with stati c electrici ty is high. ? Disposal ? Prior to dis posing of the scan ner, initi alize the scanner to ensure th at the regi stered dat a is deleted. ?
