Usually if you run straight gas it will score the piston badly on the exhaust side and weld the ring to the piston. This greatly reduces compression and the saw won't start It the engine is not seized, then a few new parts may restore it. He said he removed just the rope portion and cleaned it out and not it wont start. I was wondering is there a certain position the wheel need to be in before placing the started rope assembly back on.Replaced plug and cleaned everything already. In my experience, if a Makita demo saw won't start, the first thing to check is the piston and ring. Take the muffler off and look at the piston through the exhaust port. I have the BTS1035, though I think the other brands are identical. I tried the upper screw, as that the one the linkage stops against, no effect. The screw is larger out near the head, but only slightly. Since the throttle stops against this screw, it thought it was the one, but there is not enough metal or diameter on the screw to really change the stop position, from what I can see. So it is a bit hard to follow.The passages are thousandths' of an inch. It most likely needs to come apart cleaned and new valves, o-rings, gaskets installed. The parts come in a kit. You can remove the idle air screw, don't loose the spring, spray carb cleaner in the orifice. It may or may not dislodge the obstruction. Remove the filter and the 4 torx screws which secure the filter housing. This is the tricky part. You spread the right vertical 'leg' of the filter housing and remove the horizontal bar from the right side. Do the same for the left side. Once that is up and out of the way, you remove the 2 torx screws running through the front of the carb. You can then pull up on the filter housing and inch or two and the carb will be free - except for the linkage and the fuel connections. If you want to proceed to remove the cylinder you still have to remove the intake hose where it attaches to the cylinder. There is a sneaky and quite hard to see, tiny hose clamp which secures the hose to the cylinder. It is only visible if you lay the saw on its right side. From the factory the screw on the clamp is on top, but real hard to see. Loosen the hose clamp with a small phillips, remove the hose and you will have complete access to the cylinder. Note: depending on your model, you may have to remove the blade assembly and the blade adjuster cover, for complete access to the cylinder base bolts. Once you know the steps, it's not too difficult. Only a German engineer could have built something this hard to work on. Thanks to all who contributed to this thread! One thing people not use to them will have though is getting them to start and keep them running long enough to finish their job. But must this always be the case. Surely, it’s hard to keep your composure in that moment, and it’s only in hindsight that you regret reacting that way. However, after experiencing this on multiple occasions, and falling in the same predicament for the umpteenth time, surely you have an idea of how you’d react in a given situation. So, with this knowledge alone, shouldn’t one prepare beforehand in order to avoid this predicament in the future. Well, it’d be the logical choice, but it’s not that simple. In this book, however, Albert Ellis, somewhat contradicts Freud’s theory. It also may affect one’s psyche and morality. BUT— and here’s the bombshell: Psychologist Albert Ellis believes that one can overcome past experience, and reach their milestones. He believes that an unfortunate event does not determine one’s destiny or possibly their potential. On this part, I must say that I agree with Dr. Ellis.
